aremubabs: When you don't know the details of a story don't be quick to conclude or pass a judgement. Do you know if the man has been the financial benefactor of the woman? Do you know if the relationship between the woman and her husband is cordial or not? Don't rush to crucify anyone for their action, if you don't know the details of the matter. It is unfair to not give people the benefit of doubt. If the location of their meeting wasn't in a HOTEL, may be in another friend's place (with only the two of them around in the house at the tine), would policemen have gone there to arrest them? |

Nigerian perception of hotels. When you are in Rome, behave like a Roman. Nigerians don't believe responsible people go to or work in hotels. They believe hotel is for adultery, fornication, prostitution and Yahoo Yahoo. |

[quote author=complexstuffs post=123955549] What an imbecilic way to justify adultery. Was the man sick? Is the married woman a nurse? Was the hotel room a hospital? Seriously, so you have already concluded that they both committed adultery or they were about to commit adultery?! You know what is imbecilic? It is your hasty and rash conclusion about a matter you know nothing about its details. So, anyone who meets another person in a hotel room is there to commit adultery? Your education and civilization are faulty and funny. It is dangerous to be a linear thinker. That's how terrorists are trained and raised - one way traffic thinking/reasoning. |

Reference: Why do I need to drive around the city to show security men what I've written if you are not concerned about Morallity than the law itself. I suppose you are trying to say that it's a natural phenomenon for a married woman to go into seclusion with a man inside an Hotel room, where a lobby/restaurant or common area exist. Please do not insult my intelligence here. What I'm trying to point out is that, whosoever called the attention of the police did so rightfully under the penal law, and have every right to exercise such right. If you say the Law is not concerned about intended crime, then the question you should answer is, if I suspect someone is about to commit murder, do I leave them to first commit the act, then respond by calling the police or call the police before they commit the offence? There need to be a balance abeg. The only argument that may sound lawfully right here is the unlawful detention of the man in question, any other talk apart from that can be approached in a 50:50 Legal and Moral perspective respectively. Law cannot displace morals, especially when it comes to traditionally induced laws such as the penal code. |

Odin13: Ordinarily, I wouldn't have contributed anything here because I know some of you are very crude, uncivilized and primitive. On the other hand, before I stopped contributing to discussions on nairaland, I just have to say something here. He actually committed two offences by your primitive reasoning. 1. The region or tribe where he comes from. 2. The city where he committed the offence - ABUJA. Those are the two offences. All the jargons you wrote here is just hiding behind your long held vendetta or bitterness. 1. If the accused were to be from your region ( I have carried out due diligence on your profile) you and your sociocultural organization would have issued statement and read a riot acts. Prof Soyinka seating arrangement on a local flight some years back and the insult from a young man which all of you applauded is an example. If it were old Prof Achebe without a wheelchair that found himself in the same situation, all of you would have insulted and cursed the young man. 2. If the hotel were in Lagos or PortHarcourt, it would have been another story. There are apartments in Lagos, Abuja & PortHarcourt that people also lodge, but security considerations make people coming from abroad to lodge in suite in good hotels. Finally, this is a warning to people in Development organizations and top management staff of Financial Institutions coming to Abuja not to have meetings with their colleagues in their suites or apartment. NB : People talk about hotel bar or lobby. That is another crude & uncivilized mentality. If he had lodged in apartment is he still expected to receive visitors in the lobby if it exists? Is it everybody that lodged in suites that receives visitors at the lobby or bar? |

professorPABX:All this diatribes you are spewing here doesn't make you intelligent. You are advertising your daftness rather. What is so cool in your opinion about a married woman meeting a man inside a hotel room behind closed doors? Meetings are held in hotels every day. There are lobbies. Why inside a room please? Just imagine the mentality a man holds. What a simpleton! I wouldn't meet anyone inside a hotel room if there's nothing sinister going on. Even if it was a flat or shortlet apartment. Its immoral! And by the way... who cares about you enough to notice you dont comment on naiaraland? |

Op, should just go and thank God that he is alive. So, married woman is the first to show up out of all you texted, mumu man trying to seduce the woman. The woman must have been suspecious for her wayward behaviour which makes the husband to always track her. Proberbly the husband has installed app into wife phone that will make him to monitor and read all text and WhatsApp messages that enter her phone. When you sent text or WhatsApp message indicating your hotel name and room number where the married woman should meet you, such phone application must have intercepted and relay a copy of the message to the husband of the woman. The only thing the OP should be thanking God for is that he is alive to even narrate his ordeal on Nairaland. What if the person sent assassin or thugs, your human right friends' grammar won't have woken you up. You are claiming human right upon seeing another's wife in your hotel room. Shame on you that you are even holding any human right summit. Even days before arriving Abuja, you must have been sending messages to the same married woman which the husband must have been monitoring behind the scene. Which kind human right you are that couldn't even identify 'right thing' to do until they tutor you. |

Why is everyone conveniently ignoring the fact that the man wasn't meeting the lady alone. The man clearly said he invited his friends to meet him in his hotel room. Coincidentally, the married lady was the first to arrive. It was during the chaos that the rest of them joined them. The initial arrangement wasn't to meet with the lady alone so there are zero reasons to suggest adultery was going to take place. Would the Police have arrested him if it wasn't just the two of them in that room? While we should be condemning the overzealousness of our police officers, and their disregard for human rights, majority are blaming the man, who is innocent and only a victim of circumstance. The comments I read on Nairaland, Nigeria's biggest online forum on certain issues dey make me shake my head. Foreign visitors would be appalled by the way we sometimes think and reason. Make una try do dey better. |

Greenfaces: That is why you are very crude and uncivilized. That was how an hotel in Abuja in 2013 said two men from the same organization who came from Lagos to Abuja for Visa processes for an IT Seminar abroad cannot lodge together in the same suite because it is against Sharia Penal codes. We will leave the nairaland for your types. Nigeria is gradually getting to a point of decision. You can go and die with your vendetta, hatred and primitive behavior. |

Greenfaces:You are really what u called me. I won’t go forth and back with you. Is Abuja a Muslim state? Is it fair for Muslims to ban for example alcohol but still enjoy from the revenues federal government get from the sale of alcohol? How many other states in Nigeria formulate laws based on religion or to guide some religious interest in Nigeria? How many other non sharia state have for example gospel laws to guide their indigenes? |
