5 Passengers Aboard Submersible Exploring Titanic Wreckage Confirmed Dead by Faithdamy(m): 8:47pm On Jun 22, 2023
In a devastating turn of events, OceanGate Inc., the expedition company behind the ill-fated mission, announced on Thursday that the five passengers aboard the submersible attempting to explore the Titanic wreckage have lost their lives.

The company, in a somber statement, expressed their deep sorrow, referring to the victims as “true explorers who shared a distinct spirit of adventure and a deep passion for exploring and protecting the world’s oceans.”

The confirmation of the passengers’ deaths follows the discovery of a debris field near the site of the Titanic’s wreckage earlier on Thursday. Upon spotting the debris, experts swiftly commenced their evaluation, and a friend of two of the missing men claimed that the found items resembled a landing frame and the rear cover of the ill-fated vessel.

The 22-foot-long submersible, named Titan, was initially reported missing by OceanGate Expeditions, its parent company, on Sunday evening. The organization had lost communication with the deep-sea voyagers a few hours into their descent and notified authorities when the submersible failed to resurface at the scheduled time.

Since the distress call, both the U.S. Coast Guard and Canadian officials have been engaged in an extensive search and rescue operation, deploying various teams and equipment in the hopes of locating the Titan and its occupants. Among the passengers was OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, who was reported to have been piloting the submersible during this particular mission.

This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the inherent risks associated with deep-sea exploration and highlights the bravery and dedication of those who strive to uncover the mysteries of the ocean depths.

The loss of these adventurous souls is mourned by the expedition company, their loved ones, and the wider exploration community.

May Jesus Christ console their families

But why didn't they first test the Submersible using dogs before letting Humans use it

Their bodies would have been shrunk to the size of a bottle of coke from the pressure .

Death would have been instantenous

You can't pay me $250k to enter that Jewish sub even in 3ft of water

What dah fck where they thinking?
That money would have been well spent feeding or helping the poor.

Just shows that not every billionaire get common sense.

They were told so many times how extremely risky it is...

Anyway everyone somehow understood that these people were most likely dead, but we hoped that the services would find and save them
I still can't imagine how this is terrifying and scary

Funny enough, if tomorrow they come up with another submarine to go & explore same Titanic, they will still rush to buy $250k tickets.

I don't understand water pressure in deep ocean.
Why is the pressure not imploding sharks and other aquatic animals.
What's the physics behind this?

The deeper you descend the more the weight of water bearing on you .

Say you descend down 12,000ft(3,600m) you have the equivalent weight of 3,600 meter cube volume of water . Multiply that volume by specific mass of water which is 1kg per cubic meter , then you have a force of 36,000N.

This is approximately 380 times the atmospheric pressure you feel at mean sea level.

All that force and weight will crush and shrink a human.

The largest known diving living thing is the sperm whale which have been recorded in dive depths down to 4,000ft (1,200m). Scientists don't know how Sperm whales can do this.

Now imagine you have a 30inch thick but hollow sphere with a total internal volume of 30 cubic centimeters and you send it down such a depth but allow for a very microscopic opening .

Do you know what will happen ? All that pressure will force air through that tiny opening and when you bring it to the surface quickly all that water will jet out faster than a jet engine exhaust.

Submarine diving is extremely dangerous .

There are so many things that can go wrong.

To make matters worse, this sub was not made from solid thick industrial grade steel but from carbon fibre with a thin sheet of titanium.

The sub is even welded shut at the surface after the passengers are in before diving.

Now imagine if the welder doesn't make a perfect weld and you have a 1 mm gap in the weld .

That is enough space to have water at such depths rush in and crush the sub.

That small gap can see the sub filled with water in less than a nanosecond .

Only a suicidal maniac or a fool will pay money to go along and pay good money to enter that death trap.

Until I see their corpse before I will believe they are dead. They might have been kidnapped by the people of the water, for daring to come so deep down bottom of the ocean and also to learn more about their technology.

this is not their 1st dive. as much as this is the 1st time they had an accident, they have been having these sub dives (with that exact same sub) with wealthy people since 2021.

I don't think at that dept you will find sharks, the physics of living creatures at such dept is adaptability like birds that fly in the air

Wow!
Thanks for explaining.
It seems to be a factor of the depth.
Really eye opening and scary too.
The force of water is inevitable.

For those engineers who chose carbon fiber material over industrial grade steel, what were they thinking?

Pressure = mass X g-force X height .

Height being the depth of the ocean level.

The submersible sadly imploded. The physical cycle has ended. My condolences to the families of all the folks onboard.
