David Corenswet & Rachel Brosnahan are Superman & Lois Lane in James Gunn’s ‘SUPERMAN: LEGACY’. Thoughts? 2 Likes 1 Share

AHCB:Remember 'The One' starring Jet Li and Aaliyah? It just occurred to me that that was my first cinematic encounter with the multiverse. |

Baddestguyp:If Henry Cavill isn't Superman then what's the point? With Failings of "The Flash" and these ridiculous castings, no way DC ain't filing for bankruptcy very soon...smh The initial selection and the final selections are a huge joke. Imagine a jester like Nicolas Hoult auditioning for the Batman and Superman roles. i thought James Gunn knew ball and wanted to succeed, he's just towing the same part that has made DCEU the butt of the joke in the CBM fandom recently. Arrant nonsense. 1 Like |

Baddestguyp:Not saying they should have casted him seeing the plot of Legacy focuses on the Younger version of Superman, I'm implying that not seeing him playing the role would be a little hard to take because he totally killed it. And how many rebuilds have they had now? |

Antena 2022 is 6/10 for me. Not a masterpiece but this is surely an entertaining french movie. One thing I've learnt about this movie which i can relate to reality especially the end Sars movement and the Black lives matters movement, is that the government always wins. It doesn't matter if it's in a 3rd world country or developing country or a developed country, staging a revolt against the government always ends up in favour of the government, like 80% all the time. I think the era of protest is slowly fading away, we are now entering into the era of a peaceful dialogue. You can't take a gun against the government and win, at the end of the day, it's you and your people that will die or end up going to jail. |

Broskyjames: She got the name but wrong with the cast.... The one by Jet li had many versions of Jet li that where one wanted to kill the rest of his other version to grow stronger, but as you pointed out, Aliyah wasn't there.... she probably mixed it up. To think about it too, that movie is also my first experience in the multiverse story. I was so young and couldn't understand it, except the fact that Jet li dey do film trick well with his flying and bullets dodging in the movie. 1 Like 1 Share |

TopeQs:Ha yes!! I just googled it. Romeo Must Die is the last movie Aaliyah featured in before dying, while the multiverse one was the one with Jason Statham and plenty feem tricks . How time flies. It just flashed in my memory yesterday. The multiverse trope has been in Hollywood cinema for longer than many remember. |

This has to be a 2023 money-laundering scheme As far as I know, no one even heard of this movie It's a live action adaptation of one of the Saint Seiya anime...yet even anime fans didn't know about it 1 Like 1 Share

Baddestguyp: Has there ever been a solid live action adaptation of these materials? I've never seen one. The only movie whose trailer I can recall seeing was Ghost in the Shell, and when it dropped reviews said it was average as fûck. |

SOZINN:Honestly I can't remember much about the GOTS Hollywood movie. I watched it before I saw the anime so I couldn't really compare. But I enjoyed watching it tho...it didn't seem as bad as people said I think people hated GOTS cos of the white washing and the fact that they compared it to the anime It's very hard to replicate anime in live action. Even the Asians themselves haven't had much success in replicating anime to japanese movies/series...only few I've seen that do it well... because the anime medium is just more expressive... I've seen only a few good ones like Prison school, Rurouini Kenshin, Boys over Flowers, Death Note, Kingdom, Alice in Borderlands, City Hunter For Hollywood, the problem is even far greater. The biggest issue imo is cultural difference and difference in storytelling techniques. The way the anime medium tells story is far different from how it's done in Hollywood. It's not just an animation thing... Compare anime to Western animation. The way both mediums work is so different. Even the so-called adult animation in the west feels so different from anime. The use of dialogue, music etc is so different. Music is a great part of the anime medium but not so much in the west. Most Western production have average musical score, only very few exceptions, and even those only have at most 1 or 2 memorable osts... Music in Western media is so much behind Asian media... I personally hate most of the scores used in Superhero movies The scores are usually so cringe.... except a few ones like The Batman, Dark Knight etc Despite anime being extremely vast and diverse in its own way, it's still so much different from Western entertainment... Hollywood directors when they adapt, try to change things to fit what Western audiences are used to. They end up with dialogue that is far from the rich ones used in the anime. E.g look at the One Piece trailer. Luffy saying something like "I'm sensing some tension right here" is absolute crap. That's a dialogue written by someone who has consumed too much marvel content...and not something the actual Character would say Hollywood has actually made what in my opinion is the best anime/manga adaptation: Alita: Battle Angel 1 Like 1 Share |

abduleez1: Okay now I get 😂😂😂. As for Barbie, they should minimize marketing cost ohhh, the box office is volatile this year. Going with the movie's production budget of $100M, I hope they don't spend too much on marketing thus making its BEP to exceed $300M. That may not be good for it. Sha, I don't know the degree of anticipation for the movie among the audience and Barbie's fans. To me, I'm not hyped for the movie thanks to its childish and girlish trailer. #Xavier |

Xavier5: Barbie will easily do 800mill. Easily. I'm expecting it to pass the 1billion mark to be honest. The appeal it has on social media platform is strong. I won't be surprised if it becomes the highest grossed movie this year, surpassing super Mario. 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by abduleez1(m): 8:50pm On Jun 28, 2023 |
Xavier5: Yeah, hope WB keeps the marketing on a reasonable budget. I smell over $300mn for Barbie at worst. If it's a breakout star like it feels like, maybe $450mn. Unless online hype doesn't translate to reality with general audience, that's how I see this movie not doing well. Barbie has consistently been one of the most talked about movie all through this year. It's maintained it presence in online movie discourse this year. It's also among the top 3 most anticipated. It's that girlish vibe that's the draw. I smell that trailer is basically subverting audiences expectations. I don't see it going childish all through especially because of the director heading the project. It feels like something that's different from what the trailer says. |

drizzle0007: Lol, guy you dey very optimistic oo abi na cruise you dey?? 😅😂 My most optimistic is $500-600mn. Barbie is very popular worldwide so it's kinda difficult to predict. I feel it's the movie WB will make their biggest profit and help their year not looking so bad. True sha.... It's probably the most talked about movie on social media this year. |

abduleez1: It appeals to both kids and adult females mostly. The marketing has been crazy. It's going to be a summer movie. Alot of people will actually have time to go watch the movie in cinema, especially teens. The two star actors are loved and have somewhat large individual fanbase. Even if the movie is bad it would make 600mill. I feel bad for Nolan already. |
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by abduleez1(m): 9:59pm On Jun 28, 2023 |
drizzle0007: Make we dey look. Don't feel bad for Nolan bro... Man also has a dedicated fanbase that'd watch whatever he's directing. He proved that during COVID when no one wanted to watch movies. This one is a harder sell especially judging from how movies meant for older audience have continued to fail at the box office post COVID. If Nolan somehow make that movie succeed, my respect for that man will be tripled. Let's not forget man has a trump card with exclusive ownership of IMAX premium screens for weeks all to himself. |
