The APC South-East Strategic Engagement Forum (ASESEF) has praised Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio for appointing Dr. Sylvester Okonkwo as his Chief of Staff.

Rising from its National Working Committee meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, 27th June, 2023, the National Secretary and Media Director of ASESEF, Dr. Uche Nworah in a media briefing conveyed the goodwill and appreciation of the National Coordinator of ASESEF, Barrister Moses Okezie-Okafor, the members of the National Working Committee and members of ASESEF.

“We felicitate with Chief Sylvester Okonkwo on his appointment as the Chief of Staff to the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio. We trust in his capacity to handle such a strategic office. We pray that God will give him the strength and wisdom to serve Nigeria and Nigerians. Most especially, we thank Senator Godswill Akpabio whose eagle eyes were able to identify Chief Okonkwo and entrust him with such responsibility.

“This is what ASESEF has been preaching, that we have qualified professionals from the South-East of Nigeria who can be entrusted with national assignments. Such appointments help give South-Easterners a sense of belonging and engenders unity in the country,” he said.

Continuing, Dr. Nworah advised that the All Progressives Congress (APC) should continue along this path of equity, justice and fairness in making national appointments, and carrying South-Easterners along, saying that such approach will help increase its electoral fortunes in the region.

Nigeria is not a nation. If Akpabio had appointment a Yoruba man, MURIC or Afenifere would thank him depending if he is a Yoruba Muslim or not for appointing their son from the South west. And if Akpabio had appointed a northerner, Arewa consultative forum would equally thank him for appointing their son from the North. You now imagined that no body thank Akpabio because he had appointed a competent Nigerian. APC GOVERNMENT OF TINUBU INHERITED BUHARI'S NEPOTISM MASSIVELY

The first and last sentences of your comment rubbished the fantastic point you tried to put up.
Firstly, Nigeria against all odds is a nation that only needs to be governed aright. Then about nepotism, there’s no heterogeneous society, country, organization or government in the world that’s 100% free from nepotistic tendencies. And competence is relative in such society ie depending on what you mean and understand about it. Wether you make your appointments strictly based on merit and competence, there’s must however be some form of solidarity, discordance as well as nepotistic connotations to it by the people. So as far as there are regions, religions, parties and beliefs in a country, nepotism is always an invention or a tool. It’s then left for you to use your balanced discretion to make a sound judgement in any situation.

YOU ARE ONE OF THE PROBLEM OF THIS COUNTRY AND YOU MUST BE A STUDENT OF BUHARI. VERY CLANNISH AND NEPOTISTIC. TYRANNY OF NUMBERS. THERE IS WHY AGITATION AND SUCCESSION WOULD ALWAYS BE AN ISSUE BECAUSE OF KIND OF MENTALITY OF YOUR TYPE TOWARDS THE DEMOGRAPHICS OF THE COUNTRY
