MasterTeeUSA: From what you typed, is it like you are ignorant on how things are done in Nigeria or you just chose to sound unrealistic because u support Tinubu. Who are those that steal cars in Nigeria? Do they steal the cars to use or what do they do with stolen cars? When a person wants to collect plate number in Nigeria, is proof of ownership exempted from the process? Can a person collect license plate for a vehicle that isn't his or hers? When a vehicle is sold second hand in Nigeria is there no proof of sale or proof of transfer of ownership? Is it in Nigeria that taxes are used to create jobs? Why have all the previous taxes not created all the much needed jobs in private and public sector? If you feel that a Nigerian living in Nigeria shouldn't be driving because he or she can't afford 1k for proof of ownership, can you tell us what you are doing in America? 2 Likes |

Blazebond: The issues is that you forgot to use your head because of tribalism or religion. There are high possibilities that the #1k now will soon be increased to #5000 in the nearest future. You also forgot that this new policy will only open another office for the useless and fraudulent police armed robbers to start harassing motorists all in the name of checking the validity of their new proof of ownership, shun tribalism use your head to think for once 1 Like |

Tinubu the drug Lord. Hahahaha huhuhuh bruharuuubbbavava. What a lofty idea. Very nice. 1000 is too small. I suggest 10k per vehicle, per annum. Easy annual cash generation to be funnelled straight into foreign private bank accounts of his cronies. |

lexy2014: Don't mind the idiot. In the UK, as is the case across Europe, when you buy a car, a section of the car ownership document is completed and sent to the DVLA who updates their system and then sends the new document to the new keeper or owner free of charge. 1 Like |

So the vehicle renewal fee or road worthiness paid annual is not enough evidence that I own the vehicle. I still have to pay POC for them to know I'm the vehicle owner. |

frankson1: I donβt have a problem renewing my car documents every year but this right here is a daylight scam which must be rejected regardless of the amount. Proof of Ownership Certificate is like a title certificate issued once. It only changes when ownership of the car changes. Why must you renew such every year? Sincerely answer the last statement. If this is allowed to fly, other levies will follow. 1 Like |
Re: N1000 Vehicle Proof Of Ownership: Nigerians Reject Newly Imposed Levy by OmoNla99: 3:28am On Jun 29, 2023 |
MasterTeeUSA: Point to correct you on number 3, no part of uS they pay Proof of Ownership Certificate. The equivalent of this certificate is Title certificate which is issued by motor vehicle bureau or department. This is only issued one time. This shows the car is yours. This is passed on to another person that buys the car. Another title certificate is issued to the new owner. So, at what time would you be asked to obtain another title certificate if you didnβt sell your car? This isnβt about the 1K for renewal but doing what is just. If this is allowed to fly, other charges will follow. |

VeryWickedPrick: They simply need to go to court to have the levy declared as Illegal. The fact that it is not announced directly by the Joint Tax Board shows there are issues with it. |
