This does feel like a money laundry scheme to me. Production cost is almost $300 million, we ain't even talking about marketing cost, which might be at least up to $30 million.

Studio has a lot to explain, concerning the $300 million plus budget expended on this movie. Even transformers rise of the beast with all the VFX effects and CGI didn't gulp this much. Asides Harrison Ford, I didn't see any other well-known cast there that would have gulped part of that money. This just doesn't add up, something is definitely amiss here.

And for the records, it's definitely a box office bomb, there's no two ways about that.

There's Mads Mikkelsen and Antonio Banderas there too. Banderas might not be much of a draw anymore but Mads is and Ford will probably still want to negotiate a higher fee than Mads on basis of being the lead and face of the franchise. Besides, the Indiana Jones movies feature a pretty good number of special effects scenes. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull cost $185m in 2008. $300m for Indy 5 isn't really that farfetched.

Lol, marketing cost of $30mn what?!! That film's marketing ain't costing anything less than $120-150mn at least.

It's not a laundering scheme bro. Movie productions have been very inflated with many costs these days. Some of these films accrued additional costs because of COVID shutdown.
And with Disney and WB you'd notice they haven't been managing their budgets tightly these past few years for their biggest films. Almost all Disney big films this year cost $200mn and above.

The de-aging VFX they did on Harrison Ford is also costly.


It's not that straightforward comparing some movies VFX spend with others. Some are more complex than others. You also don't know how much the actors were paid.

Even at that the previous movies before this were very expensive and costing almost $200mn even in 2008. So you'd expect a rise in expenses.


One thing is certain tho, Hollywood studios needs to start curtailing their massive production budgets especially when audiences are now very selective due to the economy and other factors. Movies you'd think are sure bankers are not guaranteed doing business as usual these days.

One thing I don't understand with Disney is why Pixar continue to slap $200mn budget for ALL their movies. Look at what Universal achieved with Minions, Super Mario Bros and Puss in Boots with lesser budgets and still maintaining great quality animation and visuals-wise.

If Ezar Miller scandal is part of the social media presence you're talking about then I don't think it was for the success of the movie. The Flash had an average marketing to be honest, not even half of what Barbie is doing.

My projection for Barbie is in comparisim with how Mario turned out to be honest. If Mario can make that profit, Barbie definitely can.

Starring Ken Watanabe as Jubei the Killer. First time I'm watching a Japanese western. It's a story about lies and ghosts of violent pasts and how they come back to haunt you. Very interesting, bloody and worth every byte used in downloading it.

It wasn't due to limitations. It was deliberate. Tarantino used 450 gallons of fake blood for the bleeding scenes. He was looking to replicate 70s Hollywood movies and Chinese cinema

It won't reach one billion before you even talk of going past super Mario. Some forget the same nostalgic feelings that some are counting on to help barbie in the theatres is different. Most adults and kids grew up with super Mario. Parents had to bow to their kid's demands to get the nes or snes for them to play super Mario. Even in their spare times parents played it. Then coupled with the Italian American history, accent coupled with the simple but great story it was always going to make big money. How many men would follow their wives, sisters or female kids to watch Barbie even though there's a Ken there. How many men did they buy barbie doll for? Nostalgia will also help it like the super Mario bros but one was far wider and more popular than the other which was shown in the box office.

If you had watched it when it came out back then, you wouldn't have noticed the emboldened. Back then it was awesome.

Still want Tarantito to do a part 3. Vendetta Greene's daughter hatred can't be on ice just like that. That little girl killed that roll.
