Okonandmary: Whichever way the main thing I know is that they are scared of their police but their police don't harass people anyhow. All my years in the country, I have never had any police issue and I have never been to a police station but I have met lots of Nigerians that are regular visitors to police station or prison because of bad behavior. Their police and lawyers here like and respect Nigerians alot once they know you are a clean and legit business person. As for the language, I don't communicate much with people since I don't understand french or Ewe. However there are few that try to understand english abit and I also know so one or two from french or Ewe so somehow through demonstration and scattered combination of french or Ewe with english you can make someone know what you are trying to say but that's if you are buying stuffs. If you just want to have a conversation or toast a woman then forget it if you can't speak french or Ewe and the person doesn't understand english at all. Most of my friends here are Nigerians and Togolese people who have traveled well and understand english so we mostly communicate in english. It's just me that refused to learn the language because most Nigerians here can either speak french or Ewe. It's easy to learn but I just don't border myself so that I don't communicate with too many people. 1 Like |

@op thank you for the insight, I will like to visit to go soon for a short holiday. However, when I go to Google it says to go is not safe, there are arm robberies and terrorist activities. What is you take on this?. |

Travelakpati: That's a very wrong info. There is nothing of such that I know of. You must have been checking some wrong places from the way you even spell the Togo as to go I think that's why you are getting wrong info. However I have left the country to somewhere else but I still know Togo is a small peaceful country. 1 Like |

odinga1of: All I can say for now is that Abidjan is bigger, finer and more expensive than Togo. Accommodation price is a sky rocker although food is quite on the low. Life in Abidjan is more grovy than Togo and the security is also on point. It's a nice clean city. |

Letlovelead213: One thing about Togo is that it's not like Nigeria were price can just go up anyhow they like. I think there is price control over there so even in the present situation, Togo is still the same just that it's fast developing. Yes you can still get places for 10k and below per month but it depends on the location as well. The houses that tend to be on a high side now are those newly built apartments and the price still depends on the location. I still have a shop in Togo which is 8k per month and has remained like that. 1 Like |

cutieme: Ivory Coast is bigger and has more population than Togo so definitely business will move more in Ivory Coast than Togo but it still depends on what business you do. Like I stated earlier Ivory Coast is more expensive so people even buy stuffs from Togo to sell in Ivory Coast. Even people buy cars, clothing, different things to sell in Ivory Coast to make good profit. So business flows in both countries. |

MiztaDynameek:I think the major downside about Ivory coast is the expensive rent, I've seen people talk about it alot on nairaland |
Re: Togo, A Small And Peaceful Country. by MiztaDynameek: 8:26pm On Apr 28, 2023 |
Nicoswit: Yes the rent is a problem. It's really on a high side. |

Hi bro please I was planning to move to ivory coast can you put me through thanks MiztaDynameek: |
Re: Togo, A Small And Peaceful Country. by MiztaDynameek: 10:44pm On Jul 07, 2023 |
murphy29: Well I can't advice you to move to Ivory Coast if you don't have enough money and business you intend to start that you might have made proper enquires about. Accommodation is quite high and things are quite expensive. If you keep a budget of around 2million cfa franc which is now same exchange as naira, you can at least start something and get a decent place to begin with. Hopefully you might blend in especially if you are able to learn french on time. |
