DeeBaDan: You said the truth. My biggest regret I have is that I did not set up a Naija business. I have always been fascinated with online stuff. I would like to try some mining but it would entail a steep learning curve. I'm interested in gold but the capital's another problem. Start with like a million and slowly build up. I'm not naive. I know gold can be dangerous and one can easily lose all your investment if you aren't reasonable. One can start with a few grams and grow. Mining gold would be much better. With a $100,000 or even less, one can start. Can you mention 3 business one cam start here? |

guobe: Do u think all that could be a format to prevent billing? I believe it’s shallow to have such entitlement ideas over people who left the country for whatever reason, under whatever circumstance. Have u sold all u earned in work for 50 years to pay as ransom for a kidnapped loved one, and ended up borrowing money to transport their corpse and couldn’t afford their burial? Until the country gets better, it’s evil to wish anyone in UK to return home. If UK is nearly as poorly as u wish it, people will be returning in droves after few months. I mean no disrespect but most of the write ups here are childish and people who relocated to UK will hardly respond to you. Don’t let anyone fool u, life in UK is atleast 20x better for atleast 80% of persons that relocated. About the one who wrote how a secretary will look down on a security personnel in UK, u lied. That hardly happens because there is dignity in Labour. Most jobs u consider demeaning, like cleaning jobs, especially TOILETS are given to the English. And they clean it so well. These toilet cleaners live in their own good houses, drive best cars and go for summer holidays in best places in the world. So next time say what you know. Yes there may be inflation and lots of taxation in the UK but no standards for comparison with the country. Most persons living in UK tell u what u want to hear to feed your ego or maybe “stupidity “ and prevent u from billing them. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Anything production has money Mass scale Zobo production Ice block production and a truck for distribution Mass scale chinchin production with entire production process done by high speed machines Just name it opportunity flows like water I won't talk anything business lest nairalanders begin to accuse one of trying to lure people for money. guobe: Asset wey dey lose value in dollar terms? Someone that bought a land @ 1.6 million naira 2013 (1 USD = 160 NGN) let's say appreciated 200% that's 4.8M is still losing 2.9million naira it the person has kept the money in USD. Infact if the land appreciated 300%, the lost is 1.3million. This is the reality of investing in Nigeria 3 Likes 2 Shares |

tensazangetsu20: Nna mehn, people don't really understand the damage APC has done to this country. $12bn investors' fund trapped because of multiple exchange window in the past. Investors were waiting to exit through the official rate. Now everything is unified, naira is crashing against USD because of demand pressure. Nigeria can't even sell their oyel easily because Russia is selling at a discount. Saudi can also sell at a discount. Iran is ramping up production. Venezuela will soon come on board. Only God knows what will happen to oil prices if Trump wins. Nothing concern that man with environment. 3 Likes 1 Share |

wegevv: Well. I used to think so until I spoke to several UK citizens and found out that many people actally wanted Brexit even though there weren't much justifications to non-UK citizens. The poll was actually a true representative of what the people wanted. The major problem is the preparation for it's implementation wasn't as solid as the politicians made the citizens believe. 1 Like |

ghm: You make a good point but it’s important to note that at the point when Cameron promised a referendum, brexit was polling poorly. Brexit was also polling poorly when the referendum was announced. It was viewed by many as a far right thing It wasn’t until Boris, a former mayor of London and fairly mainstream politician, jumped on the bandwagon that it started gaining steam. Cameron pleaded with him not to. I agree though by the time of the election many people supported it (obviously brexit won). I voted in that election lol (to remain) but I had many good conversations with people that felt brexit was the way. The tide turned very quickly I’m convinced that Brexit would have lost if Boris didn’t support it. Nigel Farage could never have won it on his own as it would have been viewed as just a far-right campaign.

You will suffer if you are a lazy type, however as an immigrant you are not entitled to public funds, if I can make 3kpounds every month in UK and enjoy basic amenities, what else did I want in life. Some of you can't live in UK cos flexing and abnormalities is part and percel you. Most times I don't even lock my entrance doors of which I live in fear in my home country. 2 Likes 1 Share |

UK is a dump, especially where most Africans can afford to live i.e Peckham, Hackney, Tottenham, Barking, etc As soon as you arrive at Peckham Rye station, you'll be hit with foul stench, filth and chaos in the streets, just like parts of Lagos. The Nigerian kids there are into gangs, drugs and crimes. They're worse than Lagos agberos. I studied for my master's in London so I know what I'm talking about. |

tensazangetsu20: The economic damage and immorality of the land laws of Nigeria go deeper that what happened in Southern Africa....that is South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and other such places. At least it was White People taking from others. What we have in Nigeria is a Black elite using Colonial Laws to grasp property from the rightful owners who are also Black. At least in the USA property ownership is my RIGHT. It's enshrined in the Constitution for Blacks, Whites, Yellows, Greens and whoever else. In this sense Nigeria is CLEARLY racist where the USA is not. Most perplexing is how Nigerians either don't care or are totally ignorant of the issue. Even Nigerian LAWYERS will insist that individual Nigerians own land...it's one of my favorite things to bring up with a Nigerian lawyer, it makes my day every time, their crude hubris never ceases to amaze. Government ownership of land is directly responsible for whatever housing deficit exists in Nigeria and also the poor quality of housing. Most people have to SAVE for decades before they can afford a good quality house, this is why you see so many half finished buildings in Nigeria. Long term mortgage lending is rare BECAUSE there's little bankable COLLATERAL. The land on which the building stands belongs to government, which can take it at any time and cause the bank to lose money. The exact same argument applies to agriculture, it's the reason why there's low investment in large scale, sophisticated and mechanized food production Building construction is one of the biggest contributors to employment in any economy and in Nigeria, agriculture is a major employer. To whatever extent the land laws diminish investment in building construction and agriculture, it contributes directly to unemployment. As an Igbo man, I grew up hearing tales of how many of us lost our properties in other parts of Nigeria. My mother's family lost "ownership" of 2 buildings in Markudi, present day Benue State, where they lived before the Civil War. Now that I'm well educated in economic matters, I can boldly state that no Igbo lost any landed property anywhere because NOBODY has ever owned land in Nigeria since the Queen took possession of the country. There's no single person of ANY tribe that can produce a document granting them LEGAL TITLE of OWNERSHIP for any land in Nigeria. Allocation of lands for anyone to OCCUPY is at the sole discretion of the State government. That's the LAW. The damage being done to Nigeria by the continuation of Colonial theft in this later day incarnation called the Land Use Act is incalculable. Institutional investors with the weight to drive the economy will NOT ever invest heavily in a place where government can simply wake up one day and LEGALLY take their land. If they deign to invest, they will tend to operate in an EXTORTIONARY MANNER so as to forestall losses that might occur due to capricious government. Also think of the CORRUPTION bred by the land laws....companies have to pay bribes and gifts to maintain the favor of the Governor who can damage their business on a whim. It's sad, but just like Nigerians believed "there's nothing like fuel subsidy" so they believe that they own lands that legally belong to government. It's wild, bestial IGNORANCE walking tall and proud in a so-called democracy. It's not just an economic matter, it's also about the DIGNITY of the Black African. The Land Use Act MUST be revoked and all lands restored to the Native Peoples of Nigeria. Absent revocation Nigeria will NEVER become a place where the average person feels comfortable enough to think twice when offered a visa to the UK. Good Luck to Nigeria hodari: No you didn't study in London, you've never been to UK. And no, you don't know what you're talking about. Those London ghettos are a thousand times better than Maroko, Itire, Ajegunle, Apapa and Surulere or Ajah. Oga look, £1 = 1,000₦ as of right now. Shine your eye. Call your friends or relatives if you have any in London. Ask them to send you Western Union or World Remit. Times are hard and getting harder in Nigeria, you need the money. Use your nicest voice, don't grovel too much. Tell them you have malaria or typhoid. I don dash you format. Thank me later. Cheers. 3 Likes 2 Shares |
