You can go far back to 1960 and no such art depiction of Nigeria's leaders depicted as a Messiah can be found for all past leaders except for Buhari.

The north held Buhari as a Messiah figure and see how that turned out for Nigeria and them especially.

In my little understanding of govt propaganda art, this kind of art is only deployed for absolute tyrants who have nothing to offer their people .

Leninist Russia began this art form to show the oppressed people that their ruler , Lenin had absolute divine powers over them. This continued with Stalin and other Soviet vassal states under the iron curtain continued this form of oppressive art.
China's CCP deployed same art form when Mao was ruling them. But it was the ruling absolute tyranny of North Korea that has kept this form of propaganda art to its maximum starting from Kim Il Sung down to his grandson Kim Jong Un.
