is English the language of progress? Are Chinese using English to progress or are French or Germans using English?
This is a good move from Bauchi state assembly. Other states can emulate. Speak English has nothing to do with development.

It's only a matter of little time all Schools in Bauchi State would adopt Hausa as official teaching language.
That will be better. You can learn medicine, law pharmacy and all disciplines in your local language. Same way Chinese, Russians, Germans, french, Turkish people and many nations learn knowledge without using English.

It's a good idea but as long as English is our official language den use English sir

Overwhelming ignorance. Why should the plenary be even held in English where over 97% of the state speaks Hausa.

One only needs to look to South Africa with multiple languages they frequently switch between local languages and English publicly likewise for Ghana and other Anglophone nations.
Lagos state assembly speaks Yoruba on Thursday, if you can't speak the language of the majority of your constituency you have no business representing them, because you can not be said to represent their most basic of interests & identity

Really….?

Can Germans allow people from Ghana to go there and create a nation for them that includes French, Danes, and Germans and call it Federal Republic of Wafflearia (Waffle Area) ?

Let’s be serious
/
Did you allow the ones that colonized you or they beat you into submission? Ghana can if they have the balls. Do they? It takes balls of steel to colonize others which Africans don't possess against Oyibo. Don't blame others for your weakness.

Have you heard of OPC or ESN in the North? But you have heard of Fulani herdsmen in the SW and SE causing havoc. Now that's what it takes to colonize others. Go into their territory and beat them to submission. Who is the boss?

If you are not a slave, why are you writing in English?

You are shocked that Africans in Africa are speaking their own language rather than speaking European languages?

WAKEY WAKEY!! THIS IS AFRICA, NOT SCOTLAND OR AUSTRALIA!

IN AFRICA WE ARE SUPPOSED TO SPEAK AFRICAN LANGUAGES, NOT THE LANGUAGES OF FOREIGN INVADERS, ENSLAVERS AND COLONISERS.

There's no place the article said that English would no longer be spoken in plenary or the state. But even if that's the case, that would still be the right thing to do.

Eventually, ALL African countries would return to their native languages but it would take time...... Nature would always return to itself, in fact, smarter African cultures would be the first to return to their native languages.

We are Africans. We are not English people!!

God bless you for this comment.

We should also return to, and update our traditional African religion, and build temples like in the days of Nubia and Egypt.

Is English a measure of literacy? It is an Hausa state they are free to use it as much as they want, they can even go extra mile to make it an official language.

Totally in support of this..it should even be made the first official language in the state. Other tribes and states should emulate it so that those prodigal sons and daughters who don't speak indigenous language won't have any business in government.

Do you think the state consist of Hausa Natives??
Do you know the suppression that is about to take place by this adoption alone??

well play, as a Yoruba person I have no problem with this, other states can do whatever they like. the entire Yorubaland should adopt Yoruba as the official language. in Nigeria, we are not one and we will never be 1, Nigeria is just a name of a union.

Then just end the union. What good will come from people who hate each other, living together?

So that’s the same about Lagos state house of assembly where Yoruba is the official language. So they entered with primary school certificate and can’t speak English too. Waoh!
