Do they also ask for highway code and road sign in the computer test?

You need to read everything.

Out of curiosity, if you have been in the UK for 5 months, how did you get provisional license. To the best of my knowledge, you are meant to apply for your provisional license only if you have lived in the UK for at least six months. Just asking.

That's a common misconception that I only just cleared up recently as well - I think from someone here. I actually waited six months before applying.

Anyway, the rule is actually that you must have leave to stay in the UK for six months or more, not that you must have stayed six months or more. So you can apply from your first day in the country if your visa length qualifies.

Just relocate to London temporarily and get your sponsorship, once you switch your visa after one year, start looking for roles according to your desired location that will offer sponsorship too, it's easier for companies to switch you from one tier 2 to another especially if it's the same occupation code as it cost them far less. Hope this helps

Thank you for the input,

This is valid

Oh really, never knew that. I actually thought you have to wait for six months. Good thing I asked, I know better now. Thanks.

Would need advice
Currently on Graduate visa (expires jan 2025)

Got two analyst role
1. One in Scotland (25k annually) 1-year contract, full-time. Obviously no sponsorship.

2. In London (28k annually) permanent, full-time, with sponsorship

Note:
Both are hybrid (1-2days office)
Been living in Scotland right from day one in Uk.

Move to a City not too far from London. You can move as far as Newport, Wales and use National Express of £18 return ticket to go to work. Or you can even go to Northampton or Birmingham. Don't move to London or very close Cities, the Cost of Living would be a lot.

But yes, i would advise you to take thw Sponsorship

The problem with some of us is perspective, while some of us are very open-minded using the opportunity as legal UK residents to open doors for ourselves to other Western nations. For your info, some of these other nations are becoming more dynamic in their visa offerings as they now allow you to switch visitor visas to work visas if you get a job offer there. For example, if I work with one of the big four in the UK or any other large orgnisation, I can apply for jobs in Canada with one of the large organisations, with my Canada visitor visa, the organisation already sees me as a serious person cos they know with that visitor visa I have, easily they can switch me to a work visa ( this is valid till 2025). Even the US announce such earlier in the year when thousands were losing jobs and had the scare of leaving the country since their work visas were tied to the company they were fired from. Even Germany is going the same route so you see times indeed are changing and that's the perspective some of us are seeing things from.

There is no "problem with some of them". He asked a question which made sense which you can just respond to without being rude. I'm sure people have answered you politely before here

You make a good point, although I know it's not as easy as you make it sound getting a job on a visit visa but at least there's a possibility.

I think what everyone should do in addition to having a few visas is have good liquid asset like cash. If push comes to shove, you would need a lot of funds for any alternative migration arrangements. There are some legitimate agencies in Canada and USA that can help people with good skills get jobs quickly ata heavy fee. Caution though: there are many scammers too.

Bros abeg help a Brother. Do you usually pay for your hotel reservations and travel insurance in all your Schengen visa applications?

Hotel reservations, no.
Travel insurance, yes.... Just about £18 or so

Their wahala too much

----
New customers will receive £125 if they open an account and then switch to TSB using the Current Account Switch Service (CASS) before 31 August 2023.

They will also need to set up at least two direct debits, use their debit card at least once and log into the TSB mobile banking app to get the first instalment paid into their account.

A further £75 will be paid into their account by 31 March 2024 if they keep their account open and each month pay in at least £500, make five debit card payments and have two direct debits.

Does this DD have to come from the old account been switched or you can set it up after switching if there are no DDs in the old account?

I don't understand what you guys meant by get other visas?

Having other visas (which in most cases are visit visa) will not save anyone from the UK immigration wahala if the time comes. You can't use those visas to immigrate or even work on those visas. I have a long-term US visa and Schegen visa (Swiss issued) yet they are absolutely useless for immigration purposes.

Except you plan to travel and then turn illegal immigrant.

Visit the technology market on nairaland (if you are observant, you'll learn a lot)

I can do lotsssss of things on a valid US visa

Follow those wey know road wink grin

Please, can one use normal Nigerian driver's license or it has to be International driver's license?

Thank you.

Schoolhike:

Yes, you’ve got no issue, once had a stop over by police and they were confused on whether my provisional licence then superseded my Nigeria licence while still within the 1 year limit, they had to make lots is calls and at the end I was told I’m allowed to drive.

Note: the stop over ain’t because of licence, it’s another issue entirely, but to rectify the issue they had to verify my licence first

Please treat as urgent !!!

I have been offered a one year COS for a care job. I will like to know if there is anything like one year tier2 visa. My fear comes from the fact that every COS I’ve been told about is either 3 or 5years.

Can I use it the one year COS for my visa application.

Please help me!

There is actually one year tier 2 visa. My fear about having a one year COS is that with the current reality on ground as per unstable immigration policy, care jobs might be taken off the shortage list. If that happens, will your visa be renewed after one year when it's no more on shortage list? Think about the stress of renewing after every other year even if it's not taken off. If you have the opportunity if getting a 5 year or 3 year COS, that's better and reassuring even if care jobs are not more on shortage list.

continue with ICAN and convert to ICAEW without exams but u need about 5year post qualification experience.
But instead of waiting for 5years, immediately you are done with ICAN convert to CIMA. You will be required to write a case study and that will be all. I dont think they do that post qualification thing for CIMA.

For someone who does not require sponsorship(he is already in the uk) and has up 8 years of experience in Nigeria, what are his chances of securing an Accounting or Audit role as an ICAEW member?

Are employers so particular about UK work experience ?

That's not true.

You only need your normal driving license.

If you are caught with international license, you will be asked to produce the normal license.

I don't think this is true. The FRSC issued license carries more weight that the "international driving license".

Hello, can one drive in the uk with a Nigerian temporary paper for renewal of a driver’s license. The drivers license is on process no plastic car yet.

Will this be regarded as a valid license?
