BAZ001:I was waiting for you to fall headfirst into that trap. Look how orgasmic your replies are sounding. Singing praises of an Uber driver abroad. That just shows that all the noise about getting a job in Nigeria, all the noise about former salary earners whining about losing their former jobs are nothing but a distracting NOISE. The same people chatting nonsense about not being able to sit on a table in Nigeria with a group of people because they drive Uber in Nigeria and look down on themselves will suddenly embrace that same table in Nigeria with those same people if they were based abroad driving the same Uber. Low self esteem is the problem of the "have been's" on this thread. That you have a low self-esteem doesn't mean you have to rub it off on the next driver. Just as a Nigerian Uber driver in Chicago has realized that driving is just a noble source of income is the way a lot of us here see it. I'll like any of these "I have been a former this and that" on this thread, and the "salary work in Nigeria 2023 is best" crooners to categorically SWEAR that they will reject any opportunity to move to Chicago to drive this Uber they're looking down on in Nigeria. If they cannot, just know that all their comments on this thread are just nonsense. Which is why no serious person takes them serious anymore. 11 Likes |

pope191: No offence, my eldest brother, but this comment is full of ego and pride. Like i said, again, no vex. If you sit at any table and you can't boldly talk about your source of income, kindly walk away from it. Your circle is not there. In life, we change circles. Circles would never change because of you, and I think that's some people here are missing it. You were a manager, engineer, etc, and today you are driving Uber, so therefore, you expect that prestige and respect in the past to be there. Sadly, it doesn't work that way. Even Jesus that left heaven for earth, recognised that his circle has changed, and he wasn't expecting the same submission from men as he had from above. Anybody that wants to pay 2 million a month school fees or buy 80 million apartment in Lekki should not be here, and that's the truth. This hustle cannot give you that money, and at the same time, cannot provide the circle that has such. 12 Likes 1 Share |

izzou: Nah, we are just talking boss. You say it is ego and pride, but I see the inability as being naive. Sure I understand accepting reality as well as I understand what we do or where do we go from here. If you take a look at all these peeps at PWC or Kpmg they barely last 5 years on the job. Simple because they know the values of acquiring more knowledge. One of the worst thing that can happen to a man in his prime is to say I have gotten to my place of comfort. Policies like what we are seeing can shift one off balance. What do one have to do then to keep staying afloat. Keep reevaluating your tots. You were once a driver and I want to believe you have your reasons for switching on the hustle. I am not demanding respect from anyone and you can’t even demand one. That sh*t is earn. All I think Barbit is just saying is on wish and I can honestly flow with it. Almost got beaten by 3 girls on December 28th I think. Short one… they put destination from Tbs to off Alfred R. For 2800 and I was set to go home around 9. Getting close to the place, they air the where are you going too? Is this not where you put on the map? Yes it is but it is at wole olateju (Kingfisher). I say to them the kingfisher you selected is at ikoyi and not on Wole. They heap the blame on the map and us (indrive). One offer to add 500, 2 were blabbering they won’t add kobo. Damn, 500 or penny I don’t have interest again. You girls should look for another car. They get down and one said it’s my lost. My head rang as I drove away. Had to make a turn and ask them to pay me my money. They refused nd I won’t lay hands on them obviously. Their new ride come and the stupid driver was telling me 2800 is too small for me to stress. Now this is what I call ego tripping. Block them from having access to his car. Omo the bounced on me, as I try to get them off me. 3 big girls and I only had bigi nd gala for the day. I don’t want to touch them so I was just avoiding them hitting me. Until passerby saw what happen and ask questions. The slap the guy gave one on my behalf. Omo deh vomit the money. I was the one that reported to indrive, I was the one they blocked for 3 weeks. My point : is this what I really want to be doing with my life? Imagine locking Elumelu tie nah. They may be locking him sha, I no deh em office. Now circle… I’ll help you with that in 2 ways There’s a reason people don’t go to reunion. You went for your university reunion. Stand and address yourself. I am Davit, work as an astronaut. I am Felicity, chief hoodlums. I am Tojahh, now a medical doctor, presently researching on so so. I am Pearl, work at the downstream with shell. Then one goes like I am Uber driver moving Lagos nd you will sit back so comfortably. That’s that Another circle. After 4 years of hustle, we all come together for jollification. Pearl came with 5 cars with his drivers. And you have a driver they both started out coming with a rental car. They are in same circle, but at difference frequencies. One succeed the other is a failure regardless. They are some circles you can’t wash yourself away from. Years from now, people will ask about you. Friends will be concern about what you are up too. Being proud about it is not a personal thing. I think between 45 to 50 a man starts accepting his reality and take solace in whatever gave him comfort. Edit later 7 Likes |

pope191: I stopped driving and switched to selling spare parts for trailers (Oh yes, i am a graduate). This year, i started a procurement firm and the person mentoring me is my classmate from school that is doing much better than me. I hope to establish 3 more streams of income, and by 50, I should be hustling much more less. I have ruled out Japa for me. So, when people advise people to Japa, I just listen nowadays. Na me know wetin I want I do not think anybody has advised anyone not to acquire knowledge. Uber circle will always remain the same. Because you were a Bank ED in the past doesn't change it. The criterion to be an Uber driver is to know how to drive. It is us that brought BSC, LLM, PHd into it. If anyone feels he isnt achieving his goal or his recognition, walk away, rather than expecting a change from something that cannot. If you don't go to reunions because of what you do, you can stay at home..but if you want to be confident enough to talk, the hustle must be changed. Sadly, everybody talking about how the hustle isn't befitting for their status, is still driving. Quite ironic. 11 Likes |

izzou: I think you are hitting off point. It is not today I’ve been saying if the hustle doesn’t work for you drop you keys. Just as I also say situation determines a lot out here. Im broke I need 20k. Men you have to get the ignition to get the 20. Fashion designer (Yomi casuals) nd tailor (obioma) no be the same. Uber drivers should stop comparing themselves to GIG. There’s distance between the eyes and the noise. I am honestly less concern with what you do or what you want to be with due respect. They are honestly not my business. We all got our trials and goes on our wars. Your perception is yours, but each man knows what they are up against. So it’s up to them to decide what’s most important. I don’t make calls for people, so I see no reason why someone should make one for me. I could careless about a graduate or not, to me it is what you were able to make with it that matters. Certificate on paper is never a true test of anyone. And no matter what, where you are coming from will always have an impact on how you reason and view things. ED in a bank or a palm wine tipper from a rural settings may found themselves in same zone. One feel blessed and the other feels backward. Yea! We acknowledge, but it’s in no one’s place to tell them get the F off if they don’t feel complete within. We didn’t set out with same hopes from cradle. Note: I don’t think anyone is demanding for illusionary respect. We are just blowing things out of proportion. Riders and drivers are both strangers trying to help each other. You don’t know me and I don’t know you, so let’s keep it mutual. You act right will stay right. Distort my peace, I load double of it. Damn respect, I’m cool with peace of mind. 3 Likes |

pope191: I am not hitting any thing off point. This is the comment i decided to start commenting from. Please take note of the bolded. I did not want to quote him because he has ended his submission You're actually not getting my point and you're not realistic! I guess you just want accolades here! 1) If you cannot say you are an Uber driver in a circle, it means you need to leave the hustle. A driver is a job and legitimate profession. If you are ashamed to say it, because you know you are better than it, walk away 2) Drivers will always be below the job hierarchy in any country. Is it every Nigerian that insults or looks down on drivers? Which respect do they give Uber drivers abroad rather than "Hello, Hi, Thank you, Have a nice day"?. Which kind respect person dey find, wey e wan prefer driving for abroad than Nigeria? If he said money, I would agree...But respect....? Funny 3) People will look down on drivers because he is a driver. Even the person that typed this will look down on a Danfo driver. A driver is a driver. You cannot have PHd and be a driver, then expect to be highly respected, or respected differently. You are a driver. So, if driving does not give you the recognition or respect you think you deserve, just walk away, or go abroad where they adore drivers. I have not said anything off point. That's the quote i decided to respond from 5 Likes |

Hello bosses, I just got a tokunbo Camry 2014 3 months ago from US for personal use. Please, can I use my new car for this hustle? Kindly note that I'm a 9 to 5 person. I intend using it for hustle in the evening after work and weekend. What platform (Bolt/Uber/Indriver/Rida/others) is best for a part time driver like me)? I intend driving within the Island alone as I stay in Lekki Phase 1. Is it worth it? Please, advise me appropriately. Thank you everyone 1 Like |

izzou: Your off point starts from your previous post about what you do or where you are doing now. I want to believe everyone has goals or wish on the pipeline. If we all start putting it out here it will add to the already boring posts. We are getting dirty doing things because we have no options does not mean we should be proud of it. I am not complaining about the hustle as I careless about anyone respect. I don’t know how much I have to hammer this respect is earn. It has nothing to do with qualifications. As your appearance will be the first thing to take note off. Barbit points are valid and I still stand firm by it. He is only speaking from his own angle and where you stand might be different from his. It is still not your call to tell him to walk away, I didn’t think anyone asked you to when you did. Lot of people over there do a lot of sh*t to get by. From washing bodies to plate, you don’t expect them to come home and start telling you all these. You don’t expect them to be proud of it or ask them to walk away as if you will foot their bills. 4 Likes |

Zeal2rhyme:Yes, you can use your car. Since you want to stay within the Island, Indrive is the best App for that....but you may struggle to get rides as the app is meant for Intermediate/Professional drivers. You can start with Bolt, it will give you the experience needed. Is it worth it? That's left for you to decide. You need to hit the road to be able to make that decision, whether it's worth your time or not. Personally, I would not use a 2014 Camry for this hustle, with the current price of fuel and spare parts. 7 Likes |

pope191: You are misunderstanding me, sir. Every hustle has the level of respect it can command or get. If I am not proud of the hustle i am doing, because of the respect it gives, I'll walk away. A cleaner will always get the respect of a cleaner A conductor will always get the respect of a conductor A security man will always get the respect of a security man. Someone cleaning shiit of old people will always get the respect of shiit cleaner. I entered a public bus today, and i didn't not greet the conductor or driver. He delayed my 200 naira change, and i asked him to give me without adding "please" or "sir". Now, assume i did this to an uber driver here, he will come and lament on how Nigerians don't respect Drivers. People who are complaining about respect are actually bigger than the hustle. The solution is to leave. 3 Likes |

If you fee balance is 6k pounds....naira devaluation didn't increase or decrease it....it only affected them because they are trying to pay it through naira back home (using formA) you earn in pounds and can afford to pay it directly through pounds....you fee no increase or decrease...what government did was remove the subsidy (formA) and it's affecting everyone not just student in the UK....abeg talk another thing 5 Likes |

IFSHR: Lolz I guess you no be Engineering student that's why or studying a STEM Course that's why. Pls which University in UK particularly less than 18,000 thousand pounds excluding survival money for the year which is 10,000 pounds . You used 5M cos I know you had to source balance from other sources to complete the cost implication. If you know the current price of flight ticket alone you no go follow me argue . I don't know why you arguing sef I too had plans to travel sold part of my property I raised up to 15M from the sales of the property and another source I had done my calculation I needed 14M to travel to Uk then one week later Tinubu implemented this his useless policy I felt so bad I was regretting selling part of my property I asked myself should I sell more of my property to raise the money to 24-28M then I now ask myself it's not worth it. Currently am looking to buy a land so that money doesn't keep depreciating imagine putting my money in access bank and I got 40k interest when Dem lie give me for bank say na 6percent monthly . You used 5M not that the total cost implication was 5m Maybe you should open that punch newspaper and see someone lamenting that he was doing PhD for 24M with this current policy it is costing him 40M Like a said earlier the only cheapest school in UK where tuition is 10,000 pounds is teeside university and Sheffield hallam university If I want to use 5M to get there I know how to do it but no be say person go reach there start to they suffer because he has to start paying debts Try to understand my arguments here am not saying 5M can't get you there . I'm saying the total cost implication is not 5M in reality |

CheerfulGiver: I will rather drive Uber abroad than in Nigeria because whether you drive Uber, plumber, banker, lecturer , care givers you will all be able to access basic standards of living foods, health, good road , lights… same You can all buy brand new cars, buy house on credit and pay for next 50 years. The difference is not so much unlike Nigeria that Uber drivers may never be able to buy ordinary tokunbo car of 2018 while paying house rents & children school fees not to talk of landed properties in Lagos. However I never talked down on Uber driving in Nigeria, I only disagree with you, pearl and your followers that your earnings in this hustle can’t be predicted & consistent. Either you or car breakdown at some point, if u don’t drive u don’t make money. Well Well I give it you, you have tried to be consistent over time except that October 1M target but na only mouth pearl and your followers get. Lastly I will rather drive Uber in Nigeria than stay home jobless begging uncles for urgent 2k or doing fraud. 12 Likes
