You say??
The few happiness for the movie even makes things more depressing after you've gone past those happy moments. The score sef dey depressing... imagine make animation like this wan make grown man wan cry, the score sef no dey help. If you fixate your mind too much on top the score you fit dey cry on your own sef. šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜
Guy, you no fit pay me to rewatch this movie. One of the most beautiful movies I've seen but e wreck me. Na this movie give me immunity against most tragedy movies.

Okay because the way you were talking about luthor made me think metamorpho was going to be cast as the villain especially seeing his colleagues Mr terrific and plastic man rumored to make appearances. I just hope this cluster of superheroes will not make it bomb like the flash and justice league. Superman legacy failing would probably put a full stop to cbm funding by warner bros.

No mind me jare, na Metallo dey enter my mind any time I see "M" and "O" ending the character's name. šŸ™ƒ

The way I hear it, Lex wouldn't really be the key focus. He'd be present but not main villain or prolly full Supes chief antagonist.
Lol, this movie ain't bombing. It's Superman. At worst it'd underperform.

If there's any CBM director you doubt with an ensemble cast of characters, it shouldn't be James Gunn. Man easily beats out ANY director in the CBM genre for crafting his characters and knowing how to work with a large number of characters as well as great character development.
He can craft his story so you'd care for the most insignificant member of his cast as much as the protagonist. I'm not grandstanding, he has the pedigree. That's why many fans are happy. Especially with his choices of characters and the cast. You'd see signs the man knows his comic book stories to the core.

On WBD funding CBM no more cos of continued failure, I've fought numerous ppl about this notion. And I maintain that ain't happening. DC is a core strategy in WB's theatrical business. The worst, they'd only be pushed to sure bets like Batman. So you go watch Batman part 1-5 tire and numerous reboots for Joker. grin No risky projects.

Just to show you guys the immense scale of the WB company. Everyone knows WB has been undergoing massive losses since last year at the box office. But look closely how much revenue they're still tapping overall even competing with Disney that released way more movies and has many hits.

With WB's disastrous BO they still almost beat out Disney's profit margins. So you see, they know how to cover it up because of their economics of scale.

I liked the suicide squad and his GOTG franchise but you know how volatile the box office is as one issue or person can cause theatre apathy and more people are gradually getting accustomed to wait for some movies to be available on streaming because of costs. I agree with you it won't bomb as superman is one of the most liked characters in Hollywood and it will also have the nostalgia effect of super Mario bros and Barbie but it seriously has to make money cause I'm not sure blue beetle might perform miracles. I felt they revealed too much in the beetle trailer and the cgi looked terrible in some parts making it look like a HBO max series. I just hope it does well.

Yeah, the Blue Beetle trailer felt overly revealing. But j don't have issues with the CGI. It looked great in my eyes. I wasn't looking to nitpick a few things.

I hope it does great too.

I think Disney hasn't also been doing very well this year too but this is okay so far most of the other movies and franchises break even. I just hope with James gunn on board warner bros will soon get a successful profitable movie since the Batman.

Nothing lasts forever. Even difficult and very successful times. Na turn by turn.

In the 80s Disney was a nobody...look at 'em now. In the 2000s WB was King with LOTR and Harry Potter. Sony was a small boy compared to Paramount...how things have changed.

Disney and Pixar was the undisputed Kings of animation since the 90s and you dare not fix your movie in the same period with a Disney animation in the 2010s, but see the destruction Universal is doing to them since 2020.

In the 80s heading to the 90s Marvel was a nonentity with only Blade. DC was King decades before with Reeves Superman till the 2010s. Today na Sapa bien merci.

So you see, na turn by turn. I believe with Gunn's leadership and the establishment of DC Studios and no stupid meddling from execs who only care about the financials running DC, the brand will be back to its former glory.

Err Disney has never been a nobody. Disney INVENTED animation. Steamboat Willie was mickey mouses first incarnation. We are seeing remakes of their hit 2d classics pinnochio, sleeping beauty, the jungle book, dumbo, the little mermaid, petes dragon etal. What we can say inho is Disney goes through cycles. Their down cycles are usually as a result of hubris. They are on a down cycle now because of over saturation.

Also sony was not exactly a nobody as if I recall, they bought over existing successful movie companies Tristar and Columbia. I remember Tristar pictures well because they had a Pegasus theme

A little bit of exaggeration but...
Compared to the traditional big studios of the 20th century Disney was a minnow.

Columbia Pictures was prominent but compared to Paramount which was amongst the "Big 5" in Hollywood's Golden Age, it's smaller. Even MGM back then was bigger than Columbia (now Sony)
Columbia was in the "Little Three" category which Disney wasn't even close to.

Disney had animation so was WB with Hanna Barbera and MGM with Tom and Jerry.
Disney never broke in until the late 80s to early 90s because old Hollywood then never valued animated films. And the success no f Disney's 90s animation films brought it success financially and status.

I'm talking about the size and scale of the studios not their iconic legacy.

Amazon confirmed that DC Studios' The Flash will be available for online purchase on Tuesday, July 18 at 12 a.m. ET, exactly one month after the movie first debuted in theaters worldwide.

This comes after the film had one of the worst theatrical runs of any superhero movie in recent memory, becoming the worst box office flop in Warner Bros.' history.

I am sure I will enjoy the movie. Maybe we will have a batman and batman returns marathon first.

Nice work... But what I'm saying is Disney was never really BIG compared to the Hollywood Studios of the Golden Age.
Disney was never considered amongst the "BIG 5" studios or the "LITTLE THREE" comprising Columbia, Universal and UAR.

Good box office gross or one or two hit films isn't compared to the big studios then that churned out hits aplenty. This is also comparing Disney's highest lifetime grossers. Most of these animated movies of old never grossed those money on their release year. Even still, these numbers are going to pale against biggest movies of its generation.

https://www.umsl.edu/~gradyf/film/STUDIOS.htm

https://www.filmsite.org/boxoffice2.html

Disney was big in the animation zone but it's size and pedigree as a whole was incomparable with the majors.
Even in top movies about old Hollywood, Disney is never mentioned or talked about as a desired studio.

SONY with No Way Home won the box office for 2021, that doesn't equate to SONY being bigger than WB or Disney in terms of pedigree or size.
Universal might possibly win this year but it ain't bigger than these two.

I dey fear of chopping ban sha...

1.) Asteroid City 2023 (-2/10). I meant minus 2 over 10.

Useless movie. Donā€™t waste your data. The French Dispatch - 2021 was way more sensible & interesting.

2.) Point Break 2015 - 9/10. This is the kind of movie I am looking for.

I downloaded more than 22 Hollywood movies within the last 4days, and only 3 of those movies are still in my archive.

Hollywood has become so watery & overrated. It seems every every Tom, Dick & Harry with a little change are competing to bore us to death with their predictable, and in most cases senseless childish movies.

3.) Unfaithful 2002 - 8.5/10. I didnā€™t know I would enjoy this movie because it was a bit boring at the beginning but mehn, I love this movie die! A lot of valuable lessons to be learned.

4.) Darkest Hour 2017 - 9/10. This is the kind of exceptional movie that will leave you completely mesmerized.

ā€œThen out spake brave Horatius, Captain of the Gate: To every man upon this Earth; Death cometh soon or late. And how can man die better; Than facing fearful odds, For the ashes of his fathers, And the temples of his Gods.ā€

I fist came across this beautiful quote in that movie ā€œOblivion - 2013 (My best & most favorite Tom Cruise Movie Ever), until I saw it again in Darkest Hour. See plot, see suspense, see tension, see adrenaline pumping, mehn this movie sweet die!

As for the rest of those overrated movies such as Fast X, Transformers: Rise of the Beast and that nonsensical Guardians of the Galaxy; Fiam, Fiam, Fiam! Na so I just dey delete them commot from my device! Useless movies with wack plots wasting my precious data for nothing.

Great business model by Netflix and especially Paramount. Very efficient.

It's obvious that WB and Disney are just threading water. All that outlay for such returns is a clear sign they need an overhaul.

The Menu (2023) : 6/10

It gets an above average rating because I wasnā€™t expecting the plot (I donā€™t read synopsis before watching movies, to build the suspense). Itā€™s the kind of genre I enjoy, ā€œmind f..u.ckā€, definitely right up my alley.
I am reminded of one of Agatha Christieā€™s novels ā€œand then they were noneā€.

I would have given it an higher rating , if I understood how Margot was able to break the chef , then I needed more background story on her date-Tyler.

Iā€™d definitely rewatch this, maybe next year, because I feel like I missed a few details.

Disney and WB makes way more money than the rest combined both in revenue and profits.
It's clearly stated there that Paramount was basically making losses while the others were profiting.
Netflix has a great business model tho.

My mistake on Paramount. Did not see the negative.

My point still stands though.

This means Netflix is the king of them all. At least for now.

That is when juxtapose Profit against Revenue.

There is a lot of waste with the bigger players.

This is false the guy you quote is right, Disney and Warner are threading water.
WB are in Billions of $$ debt, The parks that are Disney's biggest cash cow are now losing money, the Star Cruiser hotel that they spent Billions to build shut down. Disney are cancelling shows left right and center, Bob Igor has sent out a memo for ANOTHER JOB CUT.

But i dont think the same could be said for Universal, if Nintendo were to work with them on another project, it will be another Billions Box office - easy. I dont see Disney doing any billion dollar movie this Year.

Extraction 2, 5/10,

The high standard set by the First Project gave this movie a hill to climb.
Some of the characters were not well developed and unnecessary, the writing was a bit disjointed, its hard to understand how the same team of writers of the first one could bring so much baggage into this one. I finished the movie with even more questions.
But all in all the Premise was enjoyable, the action is what held it up.

The standard of the first one wasn't that high tbh, and this easily beats it, with more action sequence and less drama.

And you can't actually be looking for quality writing in this, the main emphasis and were the budget went to was the action and it delivered excellently, far better than the many trash out this year with supposed better writing.

What he did to Drax in Guardians of The Galaxy was criminal. Have you read their comics before, thats not the real Guardians.

As the for Outsiders (Metamophor, Kitana, Jerico), they Teamed up with Batman NOT Superman in the comics, there was and entire series about them. and trust me its a banger. Thats why I said the natural thing should be to simple adapt it. But Gunn is about to do what he did to the Gaurdians.

Whos is Tyler's wife? How could she have access to the "Mr Nobody (Idris Alba)" and how did "Mr Nobdy know about Tyler's Location?

What information does her sister have that it was suppose to be so important that they had to send a Crooked Tyler back in?

Why did the Georgian govt allow a prisoner keep his own wife as a prisoner?

perhaps you can point to where these answers where answered in the movie, I must have missed it.

Part one was straight and concise, all the loose ends where tied.
