It is well o!

Reason they need to train more tradomedicals. Those one aren't going anywhere, and they source their medicine locally

UK maybe but not US. Although there might be subsidies but the health sector is run by the private sector.

The government runs very few hospitals mostly military and veteran hospitals. Like the hospital the US president and his immediate family uses, Bethesda/Walter Reed is a military hospital.

US is very scary.

It is private for the most part, (but there are programms like Medicaid for example, and ex-servicemen get something similar to European hospitals in the army hospitals you mentioned)...but the billing system is very scary.

After the declaration of state of emergency in the agricultural sector, our health sector needs such immediate attention.

I was in a public health center in the federal capital territory and my experience was not good.

First is the attitude of the health workers. These people need to be given orientation on how to relate with people. They insult patients, very rude and lack empathy. you’re 💯 right god bless you

Secondly, my perspective changed when I see the level of work these guys were handling. A single doctor on call attending to 83 patients! The doctors and nurses are obviously worn out, hence their attitude ( not a justification though)

I sheded tears for 3 children brought in but could not get the attention of the doctor because she was clearly tired and completely worn out. She was the only one in the entire Emergency Paediatric Unit (EPU).

I then saw why most of my doctor friends left the country.

If you're healthy, you don't know what God is doing for you.

More health workers are urgently needed but I was informed that no new doctors were employed in the last few years back despite the departure of most consultants from the country.

Pray you don't fall sick!

Normal level in all the government medical facilities nah.

The fact is that anything with Nigeria, federal government, or national government name attachment is disastrous.

But the problem started with quota system and ended with federal character.

Thanks for the clarification. Some people think it's poverty that takes people to public health centers. Some are very very expressive
very expensive and stressful. Can't forget December last year when my wife went under knife. We made enquiry about private hospital, and is like 400k including treatment. We went to general hospital, but they told us 100k. I was happy, not knowing that I made a great mistake. After we registered, we first paid operation money, then bills start coming in. Go buy this, go buy that, do this, do that. To cut a long story short, we later spent close to 500k with stress.

Same thing is happening in the Education sector.

Go to any Government secondary school in Nigeria and u will hail the teachers there.

They are over worked with plenty and I mean "Plenty" students to teach.

The work load is enormous.

You might see a single subject teacher in a senior secondary school almost handling the entire senior secondary division with the enormous number of students.

To mark exam scripts na war.

If you do mistake come give assignment, na ur headache. U go ask yourself, who send me.

Yet GOVERNMENT NEVER EMPLOYS NEW TEACHERS to help the ones there. They are just eating the money.

Yet their teachers are the MOST QUALIFIED IN NIGERIA. All studied Education while holding the Government Teaching License.

How many private school teachers studied Education let alone have a teaching license

The government is not doing things well atall. I see the education sector in Nigeria collapsing very soon.

That's why anytime a government school teacher in Nigeria retires, they jubilate.

We have clueless leaders!! The world needs medical professionals why is no body thinking towards changing our secondary school curriculum so that any child that finish secondary school has basic medical skills, then cut down the number of years they spend in medical school to 4 years! That way we will have more than enough medical personnel to export to the west

It's not about migration. It's about poor renumeration and unwillingness of the government to employ doctors.

Sometimes the issue with our public hospitals doesn't entirely lie on the ground workers, but on top officers of the hospital. When you have a hospital where patients troop in numbers, it doesn't take rocket science to know that more hands are needed to ensure that patients are attended to as soon as they arrive. The top people in the hospital know but they won't employ. Some times they will employ ghost workers and embezzle salary.

In most of our public hospitals, you will see a patient who is almost dying waiting on a very long cue just to see a doctor and sometimes at the end of the day the patient in that state might likely not see the doctor again.

The top management knows and sees this, but no one's cares because people who get the top jobs got there through connection and are sure no one will sack them or query them.

You are very correct. Most Nigerians are just ignorant. If you check the payroll of that hospital, you will see that more than 10 doctors are in that hospital receiving salary for nothing.

How much are these salaries compared to the risks these doctors and health workers are exposed to, the family responsibilities they have, as well as expectations and sacrifices put into their training? 😏🤔🧐

Sure, I know they are exposed to lot of life threatening hazards. Despite that, they should should justify what the government is paying them for by discharging their duties as at when due. That's what we all refer to dignity in labour.

Hold the people at the hospital management board responsible. They pay nurse 50k in Abuja hostiptals and pay doctors 80k. They deceive them that they will regularise their employment and they are left on that salary for up to 8 years, no benefit no salary increment. Go and verify.
U re demn right. My wife got locum with fmc jabi, she was place on salary of 60k with others on the same category with a hope regularising them. For 6 months, no news, she left.
What even pain her most is the stress due to shortage of staff.

The sham*less government don't use the public health, so they don't care about what is going on there.

Too bad. I don't just know why some of these hospitals will not employ. We have many healthcare workers who are willing to to take up jobs in Nigeria. All the government needs is to work on the management system of these hospitals by ensuring that astute and unbiased ADMINISTRATORS manage the hospitals. With good management, these hospitals will generate more than enough funds to pay any number of professionals they employ and still remit large sums to government coffers.
