So Toks2008, now that Tinubu has done all these things what do you want to do now?
Toks2008:
The current report from statista.com shows that an estimated population of 88.4 million people in Nigeria lived in extreme poverty and this was before subsidy removal.

No amount of intervention can atone for his hasty unguided totalitarian decision of removing subsidy in one swoop.

You can never put the cart before the horse and expect progress.

It is one thing to be intelligent to rig elections and another thing to have the intelligence to lead a country.

This was Tinubu's own very words in 2012 when Jonathan wanted to remove subsidy...

"It must be on calibrated phases, on which the promised gains are measured and confirmed before moving to the next phase of removal.

Government must modify the sudden and complete removal of the subsidy. Either we restore the subsidy or use the funds for other social purposes, If we are to use the funds for other programmes, these programmes shall be placed on parallel track with the subsidy."

So what happened? did he lose his sense of reasoning ,could it be old age or was he suddenly possessed with the evil spirit of a dictator so much that what was written in that inaugural speech was ''We shall remove subsidy in phases'' But he went ahead to say ''SUBSIDY IS GONE''

You never spend one day for office, you never get meeting as the president with stake holders you Don dey announce policies of unification of exchange rate and subsidy removal... Now a dollar may soon hit N1000, many people will. Definitely lose their jobs and even those who have money can't afford a normal meal cos of increase in food prices.

I have never seen a Govt inflict so much pains on Nigerians in a very short space of time.

You must be ready to criticize the list as usual even though your criticism wouldn't change anything.

It is one thing to read and another to comprehend.

Go back and read again and this time do it slowly.

Nobody is against subsidy removal even when it is the responsibility of a Govt to subsidise as it is done in many other countries...

BUT IF IT MUST BE REMOVED IT SHOULD BE DONE IN PHASES.

Simply English.

Why phases in the face of dwindling national income. Understand the magnitude of the problem before you spit rubbish. Don't just type, abeg think it helps.

The biggest question is did subsidy ever reduce poverty at any point in time in Nigeria.
Subsidy is just a measure of relieve NOT CURE, so don't get it twisted.

Going from Low Productivity to lower productivity is why Poverty keeps rising ... we see subsidy as "our Messiah" becos we fail to optimize our productivity, with the world situation Nigeria should be making so much revenue from crude oil but overtime we have are below the given quota
With Optimize farming and production from NOrth central we can so much food flooding the nation but INSECURITY won't let that happen.

At these stage it is myopic for anyone to still opine subsidy should be removed gradually, what were the previous administrations be doing ?? you can't keep doing things the same way and expect different result what must go as to go ..
Speaking of cushion effect pre or post subsidy removal there is no fast way out, no policy can bring desired change on a short run, the fastest relieve that can get to Nigerians on time is Govt subsidized mass transit buses spread across the nation.

Let call a spade a spade, all the steps Tinubu tooks were long over due, We need to work on productivity cos optimized production we
Will necessiate creation of job
when local production floods the market prices will fall, affordability will set in
With optimized production Nigeria we upscale her export generating better revenue

Subsidy is just like paracetamol, stop seeing it as food, with optimize local production cost of living will drop and with time poverty will dwindle

Let me answer that bolded question by sharing the obvious truth that man grapples with accepting

No human can solve man's problems. I repeat no man. It is a global issues

Reuben Abati said there are evil spirits in Aso Rock

Prof. Wole Soyinka said what happens to them in office is what he can't explain because they don't do what they said they will do before getting in there.

Former UK prime minister said it is a global challenge.

It is simply beyond a man to care for himself talk more of millions. Jeremiah 10:23

These idiots don't understand what is going on. Declaring a state of emmergency on food is not enough. Farmer are not going to farm again cos of insecurity of lives and property. Those willing to go into farming are afraid of those blood thirst herdsmen. Now you're saying that you're going to pump money into agriculture for some unscrupulous elements to pocket.

Displaying your lack of good upbringing and manners calling your father's age mates idiots. You cannot make your point without insults and curses, imagine you are on the receiving end of what you dish out, do you think leadership is rice and beans? So annoying

To declare a state of emergency on food prices or to ensure that farmers are able to go to their farms without fear of Fulani herdsmen, which one is more effective?

Both. While the first one is announced loudly, the second on is done silently because there are groups in the North protecting those criminals.

Declaring state of emergency on food can be done simultaneously with enforcing protection. There is no need for the government to announce the latter. There is no use alerting the North since insecurity is their most ingenious invention in this country.

You people didn’t even read the state of emergency pronouncement.
Fighting terrorism and providing security of farmers is one of the targets mentioned in the 12 targets (check no4).
In fact in his explanation on twitter the 1st point was that food availability has been added to the National Security Council agenda. The national security council is a meeting of all military heads, the police head and intelligence agencies.

Did you copy this from Tinubu's declaration of food insecurity? Because he also mentioned this as a solution.
