Please I don't understand this laughing gas thing.

Can someone kindly explain to me without insult.? Thank you.

Laughing gas is Nitrous Oxide (N2O), traditionally it is used as a local anaesthetic by dentists, when there is need to operate on teeth so that you dont feel any pain during the operation.
Since a few decades it is being used abusively as a hard drug in the western world, though the popularity varies from country to country. It can be bought over the counter legally. In the UK where it is popularly known as hippie cracks or balloons it was being widely used and abused before it got banned. Every city centre you go on weekend you see heaps of caninsters of used hippie cracks litter the streets. There was the need to get it banned in the UK because of the escalating levels of usage and the deteorataing level of anti-social behaviour. It got banned in the UK this year.
In Germany and Austria it is very uncomon even though it is legal.

Those who are still sitting for JAMB, should be smart enough to choose Psychology as their course of study......very soon, rehabilitation centres would be springing up across Nigeria. cheesy cheesy cheesy

When we are still lacking the financial capacity to build , equip and maintain conventional hospitals, i wonder, where we will get the resource to start building REHAB centres.

This is very stupid.

The gas(Nitrous oxide) has been in use for centuries for medical purposes. For the fact that some people abuse it doesn't mean it should become a contraband.

So if some morons find out that inhaling oxygen from a tank with salt in their mouth make them high, should the NDLEA raid outlets that sell oxygen tanks and salt? What if fire extinguisher has other uses? Will it become illegal? People use house paints to get high. Should they raid every outlet selling paints? When there is a will, there is a way. Up until last week, most Nigerians are not aware of other uses of this gas. People will continue to get high one way or the other.

As long as they are not hurting anyone else, let them keep killing themselves slowly.

Just as those in the private are setting up conventional hospitals, so will it be same for Rehabs. Businesswise, residential rehabs are money spinners, you can ask around how much most charge for a 3 months stay.

No, Psychology.

In treatment of substance addiction, the best approach is the biopsychosocial model.

The bio angle of it is handled by the Psychiatrist where assessment and medication is prescribed and administered by the mental health nurse.

The psycho angle of it is handled by the Psychotherapist who is certified to offer therapy sessions where the recovery addict, gets to pour out his/her heart, discuss triggers, set goals on recovery, get to be psycho-educated etc.

The social angle of it, is where the addict's family, friends etc supports his/her journey. Here the Psychotherapist offers family therapy which involves the addict and his/her family as it gives a better understanding of the history of the addiction and there may be some grey areas shared by the addict, that may need clarification from the family because most addicts' can lie for Africa!

Ok I get ur points.
Just that for naija, psychiatric hospitals carry all the job

Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas or happy gas, is a colorless, non-flammable gas. This gas is used in medical and dental procedures as a sedative. It helps to relieve anxiety before the procedure and allow the patient to relax.

How Is Laughing Gas Used?
Laughing gas is an anesthetic used by medical professionals to help you remain calm before a procedure. It’s not meant to put you fully to sleep.

In layman explanation, it's medical tools using before doctor start operation of tooth removal or surgery in order for the patients not to feel the pain while pulling or cutting going on.

It was never approved for recreational use anywhere in the world.
Laughing gas, as taught in chemistry, is used medically as an anesthetic during surgery.

What are they going to do with the canisters of laughing gas? Use them in the hospital?
Anyway, the Ibo people are too much. And you could have no choice other than to love them each time you think of hating them. It won't help you either, wasting much effort, travelling to Antarctica, just to hide a secret. Don't be shocked to see them there, because like anywhere you go, everywhere is where you'll get to see them. And they'll diligently search out your secret and ultimately teach you how to use it.
