Julietogelekac: The PGCert may be 1 + 1 programs, while the MBA is a straight 2 year program. Please choose the one you like most, but if I were you, I would choose MBA. |

ShowYoung: Kindly help with this profile my lovely people: Primary applicant: Father (45 years old) OND & HND in media studies (journalism; upper credit) year of graduation: 2009 intend year of study: 2024 (any intake) work experience: Sales rep in a pharmacy: 3 years 2010 - 2013 Personal Business(trading in building materials) 2013 to 2023 (10years) Preferred Courses of study(flexible and open for change or suggestions): desired course of study: 1st choice- Post graduate certificate or Post graduate diploma in Project management (1 year duration) 2nd choice of course- Health care assistant or Personal support worker or care giver (1 year certificate program NOT PGDiploma) Desired course of study: 1st choice: Project management which of these program choices will guarantee visa and admissions in Canada? any recommended school as a Nigerian applicant? Relocating with wife and 5 children. 2 of the children are under 5 while the other three are above 5 years old, none is up to 18years old. (will the children apply for same study permit or visiting visa??) What is the best way to go about the study permit application for a higher chance of securing the study permit for the entire family?? Proof of funds is not an issue though: 75m naira in the corporate account and 25m in personal account. But he does not pay himself from the business monthly......he runs the business with few staff (3 workers). Home ties: 6 duplexes in different locations and over 10 undeveloped plots of land in choice locations in Nigeria, key leader of his church, his company. Kindly look into this profile and give your professional advice on how to go about the admission and study permit for the main applicant and his family. I appreciate you all for your priceless contributions. Many thanks! |

Pesbest: Firstly, kindly note that my posts are not professional advice. They are my thoughts. They may not be good for you. Your second choice will be difficult to prove with respect to career progression. For the first choice, you will also need to relate project management with your career. Although PGCert or PGDip will be the best. Visa application success is not dependent on one factor but many. Some of these factors are: 1. Home Ties. 2. Financial Sufficiency. 3. Career/Academic Progression. 4. Presentation. 5. Purpose of Visit among many others. This is not a professional advice but my thought only. |

Good analysis @ShowYoung. I could say easily your data could be correct for US and UK but from your writeup, you aren't giving so much abt Canada. Now let me say this, Canada see your OND, HND as 3 years post secondary Diploma. & PGD as 1year graduate Certificate. This is according to IQAS which is a recognized body for evaluation in Canada. The attached document is from IQAS evaluation. If its okay by you, drop names of schools and courses that admits HND for Masters in Canada. ShowYoung:

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by ShowYoung: 9:14pm On Jul 14, 2023 |
HonourableJoe: Thank you very much for attesting that HND is assessed to be equivalent of Canadian PGD. I only didn't want to show credential assessment because of privacy reason. At least I have seen 3 from WES, IQAS, ICES that belong to people that I know. I will like if you can assist post the picture where it is stated that HND is equal to PGD too aside the 3 year diploma so it will be clearer and there won't be unnecessary argument on that again. I agree with you HND = 3 year diploma + PGD. For Canada, HND (distinction) was accepted for Master of Social Work by Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. Also attached is another credential assessment from WES which assessed HND to be equivalent of Canadian PostGrad Cert. 1 Like

Hello gurus in the house, I need help ASAP!!! I am having issues paying for my study permit application. Since the fee (for study permit and biometric) is $CAD235 equivalent to $USD178 and I have $USD 185 in my dollar card, I thought I should be able to pay without stress using my GTB dollar card. Yet the transaction was declined. (See screenshot below) What's the way forward please?

Luada: You can do the application yourself. You can get help with the sop if you can't do that yourself then use information here to actually do the application yourself. Though the sop will guide you on supporting documents to attach to your application. |

Pesbest: Best bet is to go for PGD in Project or even business management. The second choice has almost zero chance to fly as he has Been in business of building materials sales for over 10 years. Since you said POF isn't a challenge, hope he picks a school with reasonable tuition. He has to have a very solid economical and home ties to convince the VO why they will all come Back after the program. So the SOP must be very solid covering all areas of purpose of travel/career progression, pof, economical and home ties. As for school, it depends on budget basically and he should watch out for schools and their initial deposit after admission seat has been secured. |

I mean to say HND is 3years post secondary while PGD was said to be 1 year Cert. This is according to IQAS In Alberta for example, you can't use your HND or PGD for Masters. Up till now, none. Nigeria PGD is almost useless there as u can't use for Masters. If you got evidence of any school taking HND for Masters or even PGD, drop it here. ShowYoung: |

bros, saying you have evidence of some thing doesn't necessary make the evidence real. You can go ahead and publish the names and the documents of the people you have referred here who got all those PhD admission with Nigerian HND. The evidence I will refer you to is the masters admission requirements of Canadian universities. Pick any Canadian university, go to the country specific requirements, select Nigeria then come back and tell me which ones has Nigerian HND as equivalent to PGCert. You are taking HND as a generalized certificate which means different things in different countries. I want to note that the subject of discussion here is the Nigerian HND, not a generalized HND because some countries have HND certificates too which are three year program just as some B.Sc you can finish in 3 years. the Nigerian HND is two years and is rated below bachelors degree. Check the country specific requirements and tell us the ones that accept Nigerian HND for masters not to talk of PhD. Yes for PGcert because PGCert admission requirements accept 2 year post secondary diploma. Meanwhile HND is not accepted for post graduate diploma. yes it is accepted for post grad cert. Most Canadian Universities dont offer Post grad cert which is very popular with Ontario colleges. I am writing as someone who has gone to both Nigerian and Canadian schools. When u read about HND, try to ascertain which country's HND cus some countries have it as a 3 year program unlike Nigeria. If you are applying from Nigeria, the requirements for Canadian masters is a 4 year post secondary degree and I dont see a Canadian university taking any PhD application with an HND qualification serious regardless of the grade. Check the country specific requirements, not the general requirements. ShowYoung: |

Please I have this issue from Visa officer, how do I resolve it. I submitted Investment bound and my commercial account statement for my application and this is the response i got from the Visa officer Specifically, I have concerns that you have sufficient finances readily available to cover your tuition and living costs while studying in Canada because have provided proof of funds (investments, bank statement) from a microfinance institution and not from a commercial bank. As per the Central Bank of Nigeria, “microfinance is about providing financial services to the poor who are traditionally not served by the conventional financial institutions”. Furthermore, Nigerian laws governing microfinance banks (MFBs) are restricted from engaging in foreign currency transactions/overseas transfers. Please provide proof of funds/bank statements from a commercial bank. Please note that if it is found that you have engaged in misrepresentation in submitting your application, you would be inadmissible to Canada for a period of five years according to subsection 40(2)(a): |
