Since 90s going by what I have read, several attemps have been made to plan towards removing the subsidy.. the time has never been right still and that's why we are still here we are today economically.. Until that strong leadership came via Tinubu, there has never been the right time & there could never have been the right time using the approach suggested by your humble self.. The descision has been made & we will become better for it at the long run

How about the ones in the rural communities how do they benefit…?? Just increasing minimum wages for civil servants & public servants including politicians will not solve the economic problems.

What of those that're not on government payroll? The solution is good governance, curbing wastges in governance, encouraging productivity, curbing insecurity etc.

State and LG workers are not interested in salary increase because even of the whole Nigerian budget is given to govs they can not increase the salary of workers that can reflect reality out of their greediness. A state and LG director is earning less than 100k per month. What we want is to repair our refineries to full capacity so that petrol price can come down otherwise Nigerians will never be happy with tinubu. And I assure you if this situation continues up to 2027, any presidential candidate that promise to bring back subsidy will defeat tinubu. Atiku, obi and tinubu pledged to remove subsidy in their campaigns so we just have to vote the o e with less evil among them the reason I voted for tinubu.

this is the main problem with Nigerians newspapers. they like to quote non-experts all the time. tell this primate to go and fix our economic problems.

Both can be done. Workers are a small part of the population. What happens to majority others who are not workers and can't benefit from an increase in minimum wage?

Same argument for those who say the N500bln should be used to procure buses and distribute across the country to make transportation cheaper. Again both can be done. Short term cash palliatives AND a massive public transportation roll out can be done. Afterall during covid, US, UK and many other developed countries provided cash to vulnerable households to cushion the impact of sit at homes and widespread job losses.
