Balogun Akin Osuntokun, a prominent southwest politician and leader of the Labour Party, has come out to say that the results presented by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) do not accurately reflect the results of the elections held on February 25.

Nigerians are continuing to pay close attention to the ongoing proceedings of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, which is currently sitting in the country’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In an interview on Channels TV’s “Sunrise Daily” on Friday, July 14, Osuntokun, who served as the Director-General of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council in the run-up to the elections, claimed that the Labour Party did not, in any way, finish third as claimed by the electoral umpire. The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was nowhere near the first position that was given to them by INEC.

Further, the leader of the Labour Party maintained that the Peoples Democratic Party might not have come in second place as the Nigerian people are led to believe.

“Fraudulent results were announced by INEC,” he claimed. And for that reason, we are challenging the outcomes in court. You are citing an outcome that we have never concurred with. The APC did not place first; as for the PDP, I am unsure of their status, but we did not place third. We have results, but I’m afraid to share them for fear of appearing to preempt the court.

However, the fact remains that you cannot hold INEC accountable for what everyone, including Nigerians and non-Nigerians, have said about its lack of credibility and expect that organization to produce trustworthy results.
