ebixy: As I much as I liked this program, the requirement of having to visit Abuja during the course nullified its usefulness to me. |
Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by mistilink1: 7:08pm On Jul 17, 2023 |
livinsoul:Well, I guess they are trying to give the best. Before now, I used to underrate NOUN not until I applied for masters and informed my friend who is a PhD holder and a lecturer. He said "guy you get mind oh, that school! You must be ready to read to stupor before you made PhD grade and spend also". That was when I know I am in the right place. |

livinsoul: Do you know anyone that has actually passed through the program? When registering, I saw only 3 study centers (Lagos, Abuja, and Kaduna). I sent them an email, and they said the program can be taken from anywhere. |

Good afternoon Please I need advice here It's been 10 years + I have leave secondary school I want to go back to school and I wish to attend NOUN wish Exam can I sit for now |
Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by mistilink1: 1:23pm On Jul 18, 2023 |
ebixy:It doesn't apply to masters. You will start and end it at your study center. But I don't know for project supervisor oh, Because I was told few of them may told you to see them one on one. But my advice for you is to ensure you commit yourself to serious reading, except you don't want to go beyond masters. I don't think NOUN is running M.Phil for those who couldn't meet up with PhD grade. |

5 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA (NOUN) 1. National Open University is a Federal Government School As a Federal Government University; it is believed that NOUN is favored. There is no fear of the credibility or authenticity of the license. The university is NUC approved for graduates, Master, and Ph.D. programmes. NUC approval is the ultimate; it is what makes the university a university in Nigeria. 2. It is a global concept. Open University is a global educational concept that has been around for over 40 years. It did not start in Nigeria. As of today, there are more than 60 open universities in the world, in countries like USA, Canada, Australia, India, Thailand, UK, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Israel, Malaysia, Netherland, Japan, Greece and some more Originally, the concept of Open University was birthed with the belief that communications technology could bring high-quality degree-level learning to people who had not had the opportunity to attend traditional campus universities. 3. There's no such thing as union action or strike in a country like ours where it is common for a year or two to be added to the supposed year of graduation due to certain factors like the ASUU strike and student protest, there’s no such thing at NOUN like that. The record has it that you won’t be spending an extra year or more. You are almost certain of your year of graduation even from the beginning. 4. NYSC Exclusion letter It should be noted here that NYSC was not created to confirm university degrees. NYSC certificate is just saying "you have served your country." Yes, NOUN graduate doesn't get call-up letters for youth service, but NYSC Exclusion letters are made available to them, and it is equivalent to NYSC certificate. As earlier said, NOUN has over seven hundred thousand students and is still growing, equivalent to the population of 10-20 Universities. Should you incorporate that population into NYSC, NYSC will need almost double of its facility to accommodate the numbers. 5. Admission is easy and open. This for me is one of the interesting things about NOUN. You don’t need JAMB or post JAMB to gain admission into its centres. NOUN admits students every semester and forms are continually on sale.
