Aquila99:If there's a runoff, it will be between two candidates. When two people are running, it's impossible for the person with simple majority not to be able to gather at least 25% in Abuja because votes will be less splitted. |

Chidibe212: Una sef.. All these your rice and beans analogies sef just dey crack me up. There is no food like rice and beans. There is rice, there is beans. Rice and beans is a mixture. Nigeria is not known as 36 States, Nigeria is not known as 37 States. Nigeria is known as 36 States and The FCT. "36 States and The FCT" was, is and will always be a collective. So 25 percent in 2/3 of 36 States and The FCT, As a statement is very very very two sided in my opinion. You people should just stop trying to be English Gurus and call for that clause to be written to specifically mean what they intend to mean. As for me, both interpretations are valid. To agree with your second paragraph, there is no absurdity in mandating a President to meet the 25 percent in the FCT, since FCT has no governor and it's residents are under the direct rulership of the President. It is also absurd in the sense that a candidate could win the entire 36 States by making more Ethan 25 percent but be disqualified simply because they got only 20 percent in The FCT. |

OredoPikin: The letter of the law and the spirit of the law are two possible ways to regard rules, or laws. To obey the letter of the law is to follow the literal reading of the words of the law, whereas following the spirit of the law means enacting the intent behind the law. That's where the courts come in |

Aquila99: You said two different things but need an answer to number 2. And the answer is the 1st candidate failed. Why because there's a mandatory on FCT which is not a state but a Federal Capital. Now lets Put it this way with a different assumption that you will understand using A and B. (A) Let's assume FCT was just set aside in this election and the 36 states was shared to 3 different candidates meaning each candidate will have 12 states to themselves which is a Tag right? Then the Federal territory capital (FCT) which is not a state will be brought in so as to get a winner between the 3 candidates. (B) Candidate (a) secured 13 states, candidate (b) secured 12states and candidate (c) secured 11 states totalling 36 states and the rules of the game is that for a candidate to be declared a winner he MUST have 25% in 24 states out of 36 states including (AND) the FCT to be declared winner. Now do a little work. Go back to the election and find out each candidate that got 25% in 24 states out of 36 states including (AND) FCT and tell me who won. |

Guestlander: it is what the law says bro they are not special rather the law made abuja so. after the current case in court, u can go to ur representative at the national assembly to move the emotion for its amendment. as it stands now, abuja is considered special because its the FCT and its expected u get at least 25% there |

OredoPikin: Please sir, help me ask the guy you quoted that IF FCT is moved to Lagos will Lagos be called a State? I will see his response if he/she replies you. Lol |
Re: 25% In FCT Is A Must by Guestlander: 11:19am On Jul 18, 2023 |
OredoPikin: Pure nonsense, the constitution doesn't grant any special privileges to residents of Abuja especially in terms of voting. Abuja is only giving the status of a state to protect the rights of the residents to participate in the voting process just like other Nigerians. Obi is considered to have won 12 states even though he won 11 states and the FCT for this reason. 1 Like |

Guestlander: Please sir, Abuja is not a state. FCT is not a state. Let's assume you are from Benue state and FCT (which I believe you know the full meaning) is moved to Benue State, kindly note that Benue will no longer be regarded as a State but a Federal Capital Territory. Obi won 11 states AND Abuja (which is not a state but FCT) |

Chidibe212: Ur answer is not straightforward. Explain in layman terms. From dis election. Only BAT passed dat 25% threshold. My earlier question is again. If dis election is canceled because BAT didn't get 25% in FCT. Wat will happen if a rerun is done and maybe Atiku is in dat position tomorrow without the 25% in FCT. So now are u in support of mandatory 25% in FCT or Not? 1 Like |
Re: 25% In FCT Is A Must by Guestlander: 11:32am On Jul 18, 2023 |
Chidibe212: Who said Abuja is a state? In a previous Supreme Court ruling, Abuja FCT has been for the purpose of elections only regarded as a state. Like I said earlier, this is the reason why Obi is considered to have won 12 states when in fact he won in 11 states and Abuja. 1 Like |

Aquila99:People who are talking about rerun actually meant runoff. You know English is not our mate in Nigeria. Whatever makes the tribunal cancel the election will also make Tinubu ineligible to recontest in the runoff. |
Re: 25% In FCT Is A Must by OredoPikin: 12:07pm On Jul 18, 2023 |
Guestlander:That is ur own make up On INEC report It was clearly stated Tinubu won 12 states even if we all know he didnt win RIVERS Atiku won 12 states Obi won 11 states and FCT That was how it was written everywhere including INEC report I wondered where u see Obi won 12 states 🤔 Again u guys can assume Anything in your head, it will not change what was written Abuja people are not special but the status of Abuja as the seat of power offered that uniqueness to it. |

The conjunction "And" is not necessary abi? Ode, I'm not a supporter of any politician, but when something is written in black and white, say it as it is,no politician will pay u even if u defend them here till d end if ur life. Re: 25% In FCT Is A Must by Throwback: 11:01pm On Jul 20, 2023 |
samuel051: Why is it so hard for you lots to accept that the totality of Nigeria is all the states which happen to be 36 and FCT. Even a primary school child know that Nigeria since 1996 is composed of 36 States and FCT. States and FCT is a description for Nigeria beyond electoral matters. The AND has always been there to describe the FCT in conjuction with the 36 states. So concerning the issue of national spread in elections where the totality of Nigeria is concerned, it must refer to all the states and FCT. That is because FCT is not a state for Nigeria to be referred to as 37 States. So it must always have the conjunction AND between the 36 states and FCT as the totality of Nigeria. For the purpose of the national spread, the winner of the majority or highest votes, must secure 25% in 2/3 of Nigeria, which is 2/3 of all the states and FCT. If the electoral condition of 25% was to be applied individually to only all the 36 states, and individually to the FCT, there would be a comma before the AND (all the states, and FCT), or it would be stated as a separate sentence. That is not the case. So the AND represents the togetherness of all the 36 States and the FCT, just as every child knows that is the total composition of Nigeria. 1 Like |
