Harvestock01:I said it earlier. Those bank legal teams don't know nothing. They have cost banks billions. Its not restricted to Ecobank. I am also of the opinion that Oba can maintain even more legal actions and obtain more damages from Ecobank for all the embarassment they have caused him. 2 Likes |

izzytheo:Investment in Nigerian shares is a wise decision. Nigerian Stock Exchange being one of the largest in Africa offers the potential for financial growth, a way to build wealth over time and securing your financial future. However, like any investment, buying shares also comes with risks, and it's crucial that you do your due diligence very well. 4 Likes |

The three tiers of government are set to share N1.959 trillion in July 2023 — probably a record, TheCable can report. This is nearly triple the N786.161 billion shared in June and more than triple the N655.93 billion in May. Allocations are usually shared from the preceding month’s revenue — meaning June will be shared in July. The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) will meet in Abuja on Wednesday to allocate the revenue to the tiers of government — federal, state and local — based on the sharing metrics. Statutory collections make up N1.7 trillion of the federally collected revenues, followed by N293 billion from VAT and N12 billion from electronic money transfer charges. TheCable is yet to establish if there had been any higher monthly revenue in the history of Nigeria. A snap analysis by TheCableIndex data team suggests that the fall in the official exchange of the naira might have contributed to the seemingly unprecedented rise in revenue. FAAC adopted N436.38/$ as exchange rate for the calculation of the forex component of federally-collected revenues for June 2023 but this has now gone up to at least N750/$. TheCable could not confirm the actual exchange rate used for July. FAAC is made up of the minister of finance as chairman, all state commissioners of finance, state accountants-general, the accountant-general of the federation and the permanent secretary of the federal ministry of finance. |

Mpeace: You remove subsidy and free up more cash. Instead of investing them in critical infrastructure to better the lives of the citizenry, you decide to share the largesse among the tiers of govt where a lot of it will get looted and in turn put more pressure on your FX. It can only get interesting 10 Likes |

If the CRR is reduced for commercial banks, they need to be very prudent in this tough economy to mitigate a new wave of impairment charges and future legal wastages of shareholder funds. Impairment charges in the last 10 years recorded by banks vs their end year 2022 SHF are ETI N1,100b vs 646b FBNH N900b vs 983b Access N450b vs 1,002b Zenith N430b vs 1,378b UBA N180b vs 887b GTCO N180b vs 912b 2 Likes |

debeey87: We have taking the first step to stir the country from a self destructive path which is to generate more revenue. The government at the center has practically been running her affair on borrowed funds. We barely generate enough to service our debt. We definitely can't continue like that. With more money accruing to the FG, my expectations is that we will reduced the rate at which we borrow money to run our budget. If we can generate enough to cover our recurrent expenditure, then we will be on the right path. We can then begin to look for creative and sustainable means to fund our infrastructure. 1 Like |
