it's easier for the west to turn against their government then for Russian citizen. Because they know that the west is their enemy...
The Wagner situation is one good example, all the citizen was against prigozin and immediately rallied with putin and what the west thought would break russia further united it. we can't really say the same for France tho where several government building were destroyed and burnt, same with USA.
