I absolutely disagree with you that Nigeria is a poor country. We are not poor by the most fundamental standards: Human Resources and Natural Resources. However, I will agree with you that WE ARE A POORLY MANAGED COUNTRY. Even with the decades of waste and stealing, NIGERIA WILL BE A FORCE TO RECKON WITH, WHEN THE LEADERSHIP IMPROVES TO JUST AVERAGE. We need a leadership class that has the good of Nigeria and Nigerians at heart. We've been cursed not only with poor leaders, but wicked leaders, who absolutely do not care about the entity called "Nigeria." Let's not kid ourselves, Nigeria is not a poor country. No matter the mess in our country, serious countries cannot just toss Nigeria away. THE POTENTIALS OF OUR COUNTRY ARE HUUUUUUGE. We need to demand better leadership that is accountable to WE THE PEOPLE. EKONGKING: |

Can people make their minds up or finally accept accountability? One side of the mouth is saying that the US/UK are threaten by Nigeria’s kleptocratic ruling class and the other side of the mouth has said for decades that the US and UK are responsible for the puppet, kleptocratic ruling classes being in power. Which one is it? Whos responsible for voting in and tolerating the evils of Nigeria’s kleptocratic ruling class when neither the US or the UK casts votes in Nigeria? A country suffers from kleptocracy in its ruling class for years after that ruling class leaves and the repercussions are easy to see but why not learn and do different rather than just allowing the same thing to be repeated endlessly? |

/ Blacks are quick to claim equality to Whites... but will ALWAYS depend on them to dig them out from holes. So without USA or UK interventions, Nigerians cannot fight for themselves? The level of cowardice that exists in Nigeria is unexplainable. Only Nigerians can change the trajectory of Nigeria. US and UK couldn't care less about blacks that exist within their boundaries, then one expects them to care about the existence and welfare of negroes that live thousands of kilometers away. I believe US and UK can't help but sit back in awe at the delusion of Nigerians. / 5 Likes 3 Shares |

InvertedHammer: See France. See the UK. See the US. If citizens are striking, protesting, and battling non-stop against those governments and the governments haven’t fixed the things that the citizens are revolting against, how/why will any of those nations intervene when Nigerian citizens are quiet and complacent? Monikers say they hate the West and want Western nations to mind their own business but then expect intervention from those same Western nations. Makes no sense.🫡🫥 |

Penguin2:what a load of crap! If UK and US and by large, the entire West, want to take a stand on corruption, good governance and democracy, they should first start with returning all the money stolen from Nigeria by corrupt politicians. They have their records and they're good at keeping them. They know the politicians who loot this country dry and stash the loot in the vault of the West. I'm not sorry to say whoever wrote this article is still suffering from slave mentality. You really want the people who benefit the most to take a stand on the things that keeps their economy moving? |
Re: US And UK’s Interest Threatened By A Kleptocratic Ruling Class - Chatham House by 1stGenAmerican(f): 9:06pm On Jul 20, 2023 |
Rostikol: You’re saying until the so-called stolen wealth from the past is returned to Nigeria, the ruling class should continue to steal wealth from Nigeria, robbing future generations of what’s rightfully theirs and funnel stolen wealth to the West? What if it’s never returned, will you still turn a deaf ear? Doing that can’t hurt any nation except Nigeria. Nobody outside a country’s borders is going to care about a country more than the citizens in that country. If a child steals money from his mum’s purse and spends it at the market, the mum should blame the sellers at the market that accepted the money in exchange for goods more than she blames her child who will keep stealing more money from her? The mum will stay poor and angry at the sellers, the sellers at the market will keep collecting money and growing rich, and the child will keep stealing money to spend buying goods from the market sellers. 1 Like |

1stGenAmerican: USE YOUR DAMN BRAIN. Why the hell would you believe a SINGLE WORLD of what they wrote in that stupid article? How can somebody be sitting on TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF YOUR STOLEN WEALTH WHICH HE REFUSES TO RETURN, and then writes an article about 'corruption' in your country, and you listen to him, even quoting his article? ARE YOU PEOPLE STUPID OR WHAT? OR DID OYINBO DO JUJU FOR YOU THAT TURNS YOU STUPID WHEN THEY ENTER THE ROOM? I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. It's like somebody comes to your house, kills the gatemen, the people and drives off with your cars and jewelry and money. Then a week later he sees you people fighting over the crumbs left in the house. He sees a couple of folks stealing some crumbs. Then he writes an article to raise a drama about how there are too many thieves in the house, and that they should get their house in order! I mean...... For crying out loud!! If a child steals money from his mum’s purse and spends it at the market, the mum should blame the sellers at the market that accepted the money in exchange for goods more than she blames her child who will keep stealing more money from her? The mum will stay poor and angry at the sellers, the sellers at the market will keep collecting money, and the child will keep stealing money to spend buying goods from the market sellers. Absolute HORSE SHIIT. There is a criminal offence called ACCESSORY AFTER THEFT. RECEIVING STOLEN GOODS. It is treated as harshly as actual theft in criminal courts. Your so called western 'market' has been TOLD that thieves are depositing money there, and they must REJECT stolen goods. So THEIR JOB is to REJECT stolen money, since stolen money needs a place to be stored So take your stupid village man reasoning and GTFOH. The world is not a village market. It is a highly sophisticated, inter-dependent world where you cannot tackle internal crises without external participation. How will corruption end ANYWHERE in the world when NATO-BACKED European banks and Swiss banks, say ''COME HERE AND WE'LL KEEP AND GROW YOUR STOLEN BILLIONS AND NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TO YOU!" How will corruption end?? NONSENSE! 3 Likes |

Re: US And UK’s Interest Threatened By A Kleptocratic Ruling Class - Chatham House by 1stGenAmerican(f): 9:27pm On Jul 20, 2023 |
Rostikol: The question at the end of your analogy should be asking why are there only crumbs to fight over years and years after your house was robbed and your people killed? Why haven’t you managed to replace and accumulate new wealth in the long years after your house was plundered? You realize why colonization was successful right? The Euros were invited and welcomed into Africa by Africans who sold them other Africans—they realized that if people will sell you their people, they’ll do anything. This made the Euros see that Africans didn’t care about Africa or other Africans so if they tried to colonize Africa, they’d probably be successful—and they were correct. I don’t live in your country but nobody has to listen to the guy who wrote this article—we can all damn him and his article to hell but ignoring it, being mad, and pretending it isn’t a problem won’t help Nigeria at all, it’ll just perpetuate the cycle of thievery by the ruling class. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. Cheers. |

To hell with UK's interest! The UK has always looked out only for its interest at the detriment of the life and survival of Biafrans and that of Nigerians in general. It has always supported and foisted corrupt criminals to pilot the affairs of the country so that it can use their criminal and dirty deeds as leverage to get them to do its bidding. The UK as a nation is the godfather of corruption, cunning, and wickedness...always trying to reap where it never sowed! But I am glad that as old as it is with its past rich history, it is quickly losing relevance in the global community in this 21st Century. |
