It would apply during transits, so you are fine.

You will need a transit visa if you fly through Dublin as Ireland not part of the UK. You are best flying into Edinburgh (So, Lagos-Istanbul-Edinburgh), there are direct Turkish airline flights from Istanbul to Edinburgh and you can travel to whatever Scottish city(Glasgow, Aberdeen etc) you are heading to by train/coach from Edinburgh. You can get the tram straight from Edinburgh airport to city center where you can take a train from Edinburgh Waverley station or bus from the bus station. You will need to book all these in advance, else might be a bit expensive.

You will definitely need one even if you are staying in the airport. This became compulsory since Brexit, otherwise you would not have needed one. Better still, contact Turkish airline for more info, also you may not need one if you will not disembark form the aircraft at Dublin.

No, you don't. Even if you are sleeping over, the airline should take charge. Just follow instructions. The airport staff will be there directing you to the connecting flight route. Just present your passport and tickets and you will be directed to where to board the next flight. For stopovers that require sleeping over, you will need to get the hotel details from the first Airport.

Check your flight ticket you will see everything it's written there, like me when I was traveling to India, i budded in Enugu international airport,then i transit in Adis Ababa Ethiopia, to new Delhi

Errr.. not quite, even inside airport he needs a transit visa, Dublin airport is still in Ireland just co's you are inside airport doesn't mean no transit visa, you still need transit visa to land in Ireland.

If you intend to spend time touring the city during layover you will require a transit visa .
If not just stay in the airport for your connecting flight to avoid story that touches.
