Reno Compares Nigerian Universities' Tuition Cost With That Of Other Countries by ebukajay184: 8:31am On Jul 23, 2023 |
Following the recent rise in cost of Tuition fees of Nigerian public universities, former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has compared Nigerian universities' cost of tuition with cost of tuition of other countries' universities, IGBERETV reports. Taking to his Twitter page, Reno wrote; "Please fact check me. https://twitter.com/renoomokri/status/1682764711039844354?t=0IgblwoUFTp0ec_0Jp5VZA&s=19 98 Likes 19 Shares

OK. We know things are cheap here. Truth is we have become used to paying next to nothing for everything. From house maids and other domestic servants, to fees we pay artisans doing plumbing or carpentary work etc. We should improve the standard of our education, so that Nigerians who are ready to pay thousands of dollars abroad can come back to pay similar amount within the Nigerian education system. The only thing I would plead for is that firstly, loans should be available for those who want a university education but cannot afford it. And I believe that has already been signed into law. Secondly, there should be enough local scholarships to aid very brilliant students who cannot afford it. All the Nigerian entities should stop all foreign scholarships and focus on local scholarships within the soon to be costly tertiary education in Nigeria. Enough of cheap but worthless education. Enough of subsidizing education for Nigerians who want to go work abroad with colleagues who themselves are using their salary to repay loans they took to have an education. We should stop subsidizing the work force of developed countries. 177 Likes 14 Shares |

Despite the inflation, Nigeria remains the most affordable country to live in globally. However, the primary concern lies in the insufficient money circulation within the system. Instead of engaging in business transactions, people tend to opt for safer options like investing in foreign countries through Japa or simply keeping their money in the bank. 99 Likes 12 Shares |

Most Nigerian Parents will complain of 100k in a year school fees, but when it's time for their children to get married, they will spend 2m on a one day wedding. Most Nigerian students will enjoy cheap education, when they finally graduate and get a job outside Nigeria with the certificate, they will curse Nigeria on social media for contributing nothing to their development. EVERYONE SHOULD PAY FOR THE REAL COST OF THEIR TERTIARY EDUCATION, ONLY BASIC EDUCATION SHOULD BE FREE 172 Likes 23 Shares |

This man don't encourage nonsense... I don't know about Ghana but other Universities offer scholarships and loans while depending on Nigerian love for foreign things especially foreign degrees to augment their cost ... Of course Nigeria Government have been generous to it's citizens, we must agree ... Biko don't mind those people that use to call us Zoo or other stupid name na Dem dey born ten pikins without planning, assuming we still maintain our 60 million population we would have been a very strong economy by now. 57 Likes 7 Shares |

JAMO84: Very true. In fact, the parents are ready to cough out millions for that same child to go for Master's abroad and forgo a juicy job offer in Nigeria. Let such parents start coughing out the millions now in the Nigerian education system. Those without rich parents but are brilliant enough, should explore scholarship opportunities that would be available for the brilliant but indigent. Let the rest take up student loans like their colleagues do in the "saner climes". 69 Likes 7 Shares |

The rich should never be allowed to pay for education in Nigeria with money they spend on a sunday family outing to Mega Chicken or Kilimanjaro. Imagine someone earning over N5m per month, paying N6million annual rent or has a N100m home property, but wants to pay N20k per session for university education of a child. 48 Likes 5 Shares |

Education is cheap in Nigeria, Housing is equally cheap in Nigeria, ask those living in the common Bennin Republic how much they pay monthly. Health care is equally cheap, quality health care in Nigeria is scares but cheap when you get it compared with other Nations. Nigerians lack the cohesion to change the dynamics of things, any day we see ourselves as one, the abnormality of governance and citizens will be normalized. No politician can get it right in Nigeria until the mindset of its citizens is changed. We need a proper reorientation of the heart, and do away with tribalism, religious bigotry and a nepotic mindset. These three things are the major problem of the country 75 Likes 9 Shares |

As at 2010, session fees in Unilag for returning students was just N10k. Yabatech that is even a Polytechnic was around N20K. You can imagine how badly Unilag was underfunding itself, despite its students priding themselves as the richest in the public university system. 59 Likes 2 Shares |

Germany is tuition free. Semester contribution in University of Cologne was recently increased to 320€. That covers transportation and cheap food at canteen. If your income is low, you could also get exempted from the fee. Plus the federal government gave 270 euros last semester to help every students, including international students. Reno should be lying to you guys. 91 Likes 13 Shares |

The only part of Nigeria where education is relatively cheap is South West.. They naturally believe cheap or free education is their birthday right maybe because of Awolowo philosophy.. So the only region or people that would be affected greatly by the increase of school fees is the south west region.. Especially their ladies because an average Yoruba man will never pay fees for a lady being it his girlfriend, cousin or sister except the lady is his daughter or wife. Another Tinubu policy that would greatly affect his people which is even anti-Awolowo free education philosophy.. 10 Likes 2 Shares |

Every FG unity school students pay tuition, same as Federal uni, poly and colleges. I know many of you don't undertand the differences between Federal owned and state owned.
