Why all these comparism ? Do you mean Government can't make life easier for their citizens. Is it a crime for citizens to appreciate their government in one aspect. |

Lopsided comparison. How many of these countries are struggling with erratic power supply and security, unbalanced infrastructural and poor/development as well as unemployment? |

ebukajay184: I.have said it many times that this man is crazy . The question to ask is ...what is the per capital income in those countries he mentioned. ? What i s the standard of living there ? What is the average salary or income compare to Nigeria. The answer to this question will determine if this man is mad or not ... we have many unemployed Nigerians without any social benefit ...The few that has job , how much are the earning ? If everything us going up and salary remains constant ...where do you want the citizens to get the extra .? Is good to compare ...but the object of comparison most be on the same level . That Nigeria is a country doesn't make her equal to those developed countries where the govt have interest of her citizens at heart ...Everything our govt is doing will further lead to more corruption and crime cos everyone has to meet up by force . 2 Likes |

Throwback:why should Ghana a failing economy too be the standard. 2 I know that the amount foreign students pay in foreign university is different from the fees citizens and residents pay in foreign nations. 3 how many months pay will be equivalent to tuition fees in Britain? According to his statistics an average British student pay 10k pound for tuition going by British minimum wage system I think maybe 2 to 3 month pay will cover tuition, but by Nigeria's standard of 30k minimum wage you would have to work 7months or so to be able to afford tuition in Nigeria, this should be the bone of contention, then after spending that much with Nigeria's unemployment statistics how are they going to get jobs, you keep making bias comparison, in foreign nations almost every Nigerian student work and school the same time to pay their tution fees they do blue collar jobs, and those jobs can fully take care of their tuition, in Nigeria even white collar job earners can barely afford to survive, let alone pay these fees, if the govt wants to increase tuition fees the first thing should have been to undergo economic reform first make Nigeria productive , create jobs revive the economy with economic growth Nigerians would earn enough to pay these fees. |

greggng: Most families in Europe and the US and canada pay for university either by 1.Loans 2. Taxes...high taxes..sometimes up to half your income. 3.Open a bank account when your kid is born (or even before) and start saving money from day one of their life) 4.Take out life insurance on your child at birth, and at 21 years, the child cashes out and pays his or her fees that way. Yes, they earn higher minimum wage, but when you minus utility costs, taxes...local and national, mortgage or rent, associated costs with school, even car costs, and childcare costs....the money is not much to save for university. Add healthcare costs (which in places like the USA are effing high, even with insurance), and you get the picture. To use an extreme example...Obama as soon as he became president, opened a bank account and started putting money for his two children's college education aside. By 2015, the money had swollen to 600000 dollars. Had he not become president, he would have taken a loan like every other American citizen to help pay for the thing (yes, he was not that rich when he ran for president. Even his book was not brining in much cash..). 4 Likes |

ebukajay184: Very daft! Why didn’t you include countries where tuition is free? Education at all levels should be free or very affordable,in developing countries with very high poverty rate,if such countries want to catch up with the rest of the world. Even Ghana has higher per capital income than Nigeria |

Kapeter: All Federal univeristies do not have same fees. I was shocked when I read that the almighty UNILAG school fees was 16k in 2023. I told somebody that south west enjoys free education. I attended Nnamdi Azikiwe University. I got admission in 2004 and my school fees was 23k by the time I was graduating in 2009 I paid almost 50k for achool fees. I was evn telling somebody that If I had known UNILAG school fees is 16k that since 2012 I came to, Lagos, I would have enrolled for another degree. Go and check how, much UNIZIK and other federal universities in the east are paying. Believe me 100k is a reduction in what federal universities in east are paying.. 3 Likes |

JAMO84: I'm sure that you are one of those agbero drop outs who have been paid to make noise on this platform. One of the millenium development goals by the UN is QUALITY AFFORDABLE EDUCATION. Other countries are working towards making their educational systems accessible to all. Nigeria on the other hand is focusing on making Public education exclusive to the few that have. They are not making any effort to significantly improve the educational facilities or infrastructure. The government is talking about student loans in an economy where there are no jobs. How are graduates expected to repay these loans? Are we not just creating a further debt burden for the country? How can our country improve economically when we are making education more exclusive What's going to happen to the drop outs? Won't it lead to an increase in crime rate? People should learn to think before commenting please. 1 Like |

GoodGovernance: Nothing like free education...someone is paying in loans, taxes, etc. Ghana GDP is higher than Nigeria...by 200 dollars...some 2300 compared to our 2100 dollars. That is not much...and their fees are 25 times higher than ours. Any country with free education in Europe pays for it with tax rates that approach half a taxpayer's income. You want that here? 6 Likes 1 Share |

I am one of the administrators of a private Secondary school here in Kebbi state. Our students have been paying on average N54,000 per annum since 2018. Students of universities or colleges of education in our states pay an average of N20,000 to N25,000. God knows the education they receive in those tertiary institution is too poor. They also graduate in huge numbers with nothing to offer, but put more pressure on the government to give them jobs that don't even exist. Truth is our number is very very large relative to our resources. I am a proponent of an expensive education system where one has to pay a fortune to have their child educated, though I got schooled for almost free. I'm very sure the money FG paid me during NYSC is much more than what I spent for school fees and upkeep in my 3 years in the university. I know many will argue that I am hoping to deny many people what I got for almost free. This is what I'd say to you: No public primary or secondary school is properly functioning in my state. Not a single one. We only pride ourselves in lies and deception of what doesn't exist. 4 Likes |

This man called omokry need to visit psychiatric hospital, or is it because all the money he has stolen during Jonathan government has been exhausted, so he is desperately looking for job from government, if not, how would he made such unverified comparison. Those who are charging our children high tuition fees, ask them how much did they pay during their time, government was even feeding them then, many of them were also given scholarship to study abroad. Now they are VC, permanent secretary and director in ministries, they want to take education out the reach of poor masses. It is not their fault, it is the kind of students' union government that we have that allows them, during sowore as union leader, the VC that will increase tuition was not yet born, because it will be resisted to the later. Even students do lent their voice in government policies then, like Ali must go, IMF loan collection during Babangida etc. |

In Ghana, those that earn minimum wages are usually unskilled & uneducated persons. In Nigeria, masters degree holders earn minimum wage. Want to know the real minimum wage in Nigeria? Take a survey of the sales boys & girls, hawkers, farm hands etc. These people earn far less than the national minimum wage. |
