You said 75% of Unilag students have phones and laptops more expensive than the school fees. I'm telling you that is a 1000% inaccurate.

Let's even gloss over the fact that you need these devices to function regardless cos are they suppose to not have at all?

I'm saying an overwhelming majority of these students do not have such expensive phones. Unless they're from rich background or doing illicit stuff. Uni students are typically broke. You be OG wey go Federal uni I don't think I need to explain that to you.

Remember too that Unilag has a very small campus. Majority of the students either stay outside or have to rent pricey BQs either in the premises or close to school

I'm looking at most of the dead on the list and majority of them their cause of death is rifle shots.

I remember me and Ibime having lengthy debates about this matter. What are the odds of the one place soldiers fired shots na him nobody die. At least I've been somewhat vindicated

I have no doubts in my mind that dozens probably scores of people were gunned down that night

A very few handful were gunned down that night. All those rifle shot are in other locations. I saw dozens of people killed during EndSars but tollgate is the only place I saw tens of thousands of people with camera phone with hardly any killing captured. It defies logic.

In line with the new advisory of the National Economic Council (NEC) for states to design their own independent responses to neutralise the effects of recent removal of fuel subsidy, I have approved multibillion naira palliatives cutting across different sectors and demographies of Kwara State.

On top of the palliatives is a cash support of N10,000 for every public sector worker in the state, which will begin this month (July) and last until a new minimum wage is introduced to enable workers cope with the economic shocks created by the subsidy removal.

I have similarly approved the payment of new hazard and skipping allowances, and 100% CONMESS for consultants and medical doctors under our government's payroll. Nurses working for the state government will also enjoy a new regime of allowances. The essence is to check attrition rate in the health sector, and attract and retain medics and specialists to provide improved, qualitative healthcare services for the people of the state.

In the next few days, modalities for occasional distribution of food to poor and most vulnerable households would be activated. This shall be nonpartisan, and would be coordinated by a government team to be supported by respected stakeholders who would get inputs from traditional rulers, religious bodies, market leaders, trade unionists, and community based organisations to generate the lists of beneficiaries and disburse accordingly.

The Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) will also activate a N500m worth of conditional support for petty traders and MSMEs in the state. To boost farming outputs and food security in the state, our government will pay to receive fertilisers and grains from the Federal Government. Modalities for the handling of these will be made available later.

I have also approved the extension of free bus rides for students of tertiary institutions in the state and directed the leadership of the civil service to continue a staggered work schedule — not exceeding three days a week — to reduce transportation expenses for workers.

The whole idea of these interventions is to show empathy and deploy as much resources as the state can afford to support the people at this special time.

Meanwhile, our government will be setting up a committee to interface with marketers on the need to curb extortionist tendencies as seen in arbitrary fixing of prices of food stuffs. This practice imposes hardship on everyone.

I identify with His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his strong commitments to sustainable economic reforms and well-being of the Nigerian people. I believe that the current discomforts are just like the pains that precede the joyful birth of a child.

Napoleon Bonaparte once said, "China is a Sleeping Giant. Let her sleep, for when she wakes, she will shake the world." President Bola Tinubu is poised to redefine the meaning and concept of modern leadership in Nigeria, the Giant of Africa, which had woken up from its slumber and is now poised to move the world.

"Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it," so said Archimedes, "and I shall move the world." Nigeria needs no handouts but real partnerships. We have removed the albatrosses of fuel subsidies and multiple exchange rates from our necks; hence, we are seeking investments for mutually beneficial partnerships, not handouts.

I'm not naive to believe that people died in their hundreds but I'm fairly positive we're talking double digits.

It's on record that soldiers came to carry bodies. That one witnesses dey.

All I'd say is all those rifle shots you see in that list if we divide by 2 even 3 the Lekki toll victims will be there

Are they saying almost 20 prisoners were shot dead?

TROOPS RAID IPOB CAMPS IN ANAMBRA WEST, SOUTH, RECOVER ARMS, ARREST NINE BRIGANDS

In the ongoing clearance operations to ensure peace and security in South East Nigeria, troops of 302 Regiment operating under 82 Division of the Nigerian Army in conjunction with Anambra Vigilante Group have destroyed camps belonging to fighters of the proscribed Indigenous people of Biafra and its Armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network in Oroma and Umuewelum Anam in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State. The troops raided the identified camps on Sunday 23 July 2023, in an effort to curb the illicit activities of the fighters in the communities.

During the raid operation, the troops recovered one AK 47 Rifle, one AKMS Rifle, three Lexus SUVs and two Motorcycles. The troops also arrested eight brigands during the operation.

In a separate operation, troops also raided IPOB camp at Mmiata Anam in Anambra South, where the gallant troops came in contact with the irredentist group and in the encounter, neutralized one IPOB fighter, while another was captured alive. The troops also recovered one AK 47 Rifle, one dane gun and police uniforms.

The Nigerian Army wishes to enjoin all law abiding citizens and particularly the good and enterprising people of the South East to continue to support and cooperate with the troops and other security agencies in their effort to end the menace bedeviling the region.

Almost all of the killing was done by Police at a fight with Area boys in Lekki Ajah later that night. One of the guys who was there with Switch confirmed the same, saying bodies weren't dropping at tollgate but there were bodies being dropped by Police in Ajah later that night. Nobody brought any substantial evidence from Tollgate. The panel said 11 people were killed that night. I can bet at least 8 to 10 were dropped by Police at Ajah, not from soldiers shooting in the air which has been happening since time immemorial.

Somehow indiscriminate killing at tollgate has become accepted wisdom in a case of mass public dissonance, at odds with reality and the evidence on ground. Infact tollgate noise is a symptom of Nigerian elitism. Tollgate people did not face 1/10th of what other areas faced during EndSars, but they made the most noise.

I did not sit on the panel , neither did u. I did not interrogate the witnesses appeared before the panel, neither did u.

If the panel comprising of those nominated by the government and the people after reviewing evidences before it says bodies dropped at the toll gate , why are u so bent on saying otherwise ? What’s in it for u ? Why do u so much want to believe contrary to what the panel of inquiry established to be true ?

Did the gory pictures of people being administered chelsea dry gin on their gunshot wound on DJ Switch’s live video not convince u enough that so much could’ve happened that night not caught on camera ?

Now I’m beginning to think if Dj Switch had not been courageous enough to stream the events of that evening live , we would’ve just heard the government talk about quelling “civil disturbance “ at the toll gate and the world would’ve moved on without even knowing people were shot at with live bullets .

This is what the panel said, bodies dropped in Lekki mostly by Police in the shanties which rhymes with what the witnesses said happened in Lekki-Ajah later that night

What's in it for me is truth devoid of emotion. I saw dozens of videos and only two people bleeding at tollgate in the presence of thousands of cameras and even cameras from adjoining buildings. But other areas of Lagos and Naija, I saw shootings, stabbings etc even when only a few dozen people were gathered, it was captured on camera, something tens of thousands of cameras at tollgate couldn't do.

Wait ! Let me even try to understand u. U post a screenshot that says protesters were shot at by policemen while trying to run into shanties and the lagoon .

What is ur point ? Is it that the army didn’t kill them but the police who came after the soldiers left did or what ?

In case u think it’s all about emotions, it’s actually not. Some of us followed the event not just on social media but on live TV with AriseTV taking the forefront . The next morning of the shooting(21/10/2020) , AriseTv were at the site of the protest and they interviewed people who were around .

I remember a particular coast guard narrated his experience that night as to how the soldiers were shooting at them. He mentioned how he dived into the lagoon and still the soldiers shoot into the lagoon after him with the aim to kill . He was lucky to be a skilled swimmer hence why he could be able to maneuver and swim to the other side. How many people do u know could’ve been not so lucky like him ?

Anybody asking for names , photos and address of those killed at the toll gate is just a troll . The panel already confirmed the soldiers cleaned up after themselves .

Yes, that's my point but more importantly Police was fighting all over Lagos during that time and there was a clash between Area boys and Police that night in Ajah, which is the root of the indiscriminate Police action. In isolation, Ajah is no different from what Surulere. So there are two phases and two different locations to the conflict that night. Army did what I expected them to do which is to bust shots in the air, and Police independently sprayed everything moving in a separate battle where anyone on street is a target. The "massacre" outcry should be directed toward Police away from Tollgate in a separate incident no different from what Police had been doing those weeks, even within the same Lekki. It just happened to fall on the same night as the tollgate incident.
