I think Tech these days should be learnt with other skills, like accounting/finance, project management, business analysis, system engineering, physical security integration, HR, Marketing, SCM etc. My 2 cent. 2 Likes |

As highlighted by someone above, tech is a means to an end. Example is our online pharmacy consultation platform reaching out to distance clients.

Csami: We're saying the same thing. My point still remains that even if a large majority of unemployed Nigerians had decent tech skills and could compete on with IT folks from advanced countries, the problem of unemployment would still be the same. Tech cannot simply absorb all the unemployed youths we have 5 Likes 1 Share |

Apus: Tech Industry is saturated...lol. By who?? Go and check how many tech jobs are being advertised everyday on LinkedIn. You see this tech ish? The level of commitment needed to even have a taste of it's reward/benefits, most Nigerians are not willing to make that sacrifice. 19 Likes |

Vilgax: Why should tech employ every unemployed Nigerian? Is every unemployed Nigerian/individual interested in a career in tech? What about other industries? There is nothing like the "best of the best" in many careers that provide job opportunities, save for a very few ones in embedded engineering and maybe semiconductors (microchips). Nigeria needs to fix her extremely poor and virtually non-existing infrastructure and that means getting the politics right first. And fixing politics means electing the right people into elective positions and respecting the rules of law. With electricity and road infrastructure fixed, those two alone can help reduce this "humongous unemployment". 13 Likes 1 Share |

Barywhyte: You and i are exactly on the same page. I wrote the article to highlight the unrealistic expectations people place on tech as a solution to Nigeria's unemployment crisis. In my conclusion i suggested that other measures such as what you suggested should be put in place by the government. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Vilgax: There are over 60 Million unemployed and soon to be employed youths in Nigeria... How many of them are in tech that's making you create threads?!! Do you know how many Asians and Americans are into various areas of tech, yet their tech industries are nowhere near saturated?!! It takes more than trends to excel in any field, and as we speak there are more fields springing up... The revolution hasn't even started globally. I agree that Nigerians tend to bullrush anything trending, but the weeds will always get separated from the wheat. Only those truly gifted and passionate about tech will succeed there. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Tapout: How many of those jobs are willing to pay what's due! The IT industry is done already. The good old days are gone and just the crumbs are left! With competent cheap labour littering India, Pakistan and Lebanon, It will only get worse. If you quite aware, even Nigerian and American multinationals have started exporting jobs to those cheap labour destination. 2 Likes |

AllenSpencer: Please, name one area of human capital endeavor that isn't 'saturated'. Name just one. Even Crime is fully saturated! Terrorism, same thing. Yet, people who know what they are doing will keep succeeding online and offline. I hate it when you people demonize everything and discourage everyone... Till date, people are still succeeding in the demonized Cryptocurrency world. Tech will never favor everyone, no matter how they join the bandwagon... Those who are truly called to it will always rise above the crowd. Same thing goes for Carpentry, Tailoring, Car wash, Farming, etc. 9 Likes 1 Share |
