Your opinion is valid and correct but you're coming at it from an individualistic standpoint. Of course any tech-inclined person who knows his onions cannot complain about lack of jobs (poor pay, maybe; but a lack of jobs? nahh).

I'm just saying that tech (both domestic and foreign roles) cannot absorb the humongous number of unemployed Nigerians.
The entire nature of the tech industry is designed to only favour a select few deemed the "best of the best".

I guess the problem stems from the kind of way Nigerians are programmed. Most Nigerians are programmed to seek knowledge for the sake of seeking jobs. That to me is the wrong way to go. People should seek knowledge for the sake of solving problems. Problem solving is what can make you the money either as an employee or as an entrepreneur. Digital knowledge, or any knowledge at that, is useless if you cannot apply it to solve some kind of problem bedeviling mankind. Whether, digital skills or non-digital skills people should learn to solve problems and make money.

I disagree with everything except the infrastructural gaps and where you’re implying that Naija isn’t big in tech as the west and Asia.
Tech is very wide and there’s no in between. You’re either good enough or not, and you’re not limited to Nigeria. Decent tech guys in naija are not that much. Tech skills take time and resources. The question is this, are you decent enough to land that tech job?!
good point.nigerian think tech is a quick scheme to rich.tech is an a industry dat dont wait for anybody.is a moving train.it takes years to gain.is nt a 3month tins.like me i do driving job in ikoyi dat gives me time to focus on tech.tommorrow nw u wil nw see me am making it. ah

While it is true that the tech industry may not be a panacea for all unemployment challenges in developing economies like Nigeria, arguing that it is merely a bubble and not a long-term solution oversimplifies the significant impact technology can have on job creation and economic growth. There are several reasons why the tech industry should be seen as a crucial player in addressing unemployment challenges:

1. Job Creation and Skills Development: The tech industry is known for creating a wide range of job opportunities, not just limited to highly specialized roles. It encompasses various fields, including software development, digital marketing, customer support, and data analysis, which can cater to individuals with diverse skill sets and educational backgrounds.

2. Ecosystem Development: The growth of the tech industry can stimulate the development of a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem. As startups and tech companies flourish, they create a demand for ancillary services, leading to job opportunities in areas like logistics, marketing, legal, and finance.

3. Global Reach and Remote Work: The digital nature of the tech industry allows for remote work opportunities, enabling individuals from remote areas to access jobs and tap into the global market. This can significantly reduce geographic constraints and create employment prospects for people outside major urban centers.

4. Technological Advancements: As technology continues to evolve, it brings about innovations and efficiencies in various sectors. Embracing tech-driven solutions can revitalize traditional industries and improve productivity, leading to potential job growth.

5. Economic Diversification: Relying on the tech industry can diversify a nation's economy, reducing dependence on a few sectors and providing resilience against economic downturns. A robust tech sector can attract foreign investments and stimulate economic growth in other related industries.

6. Social Impact and Inclusion: Tech solutions can address societal challenges, such as healthcare, education, and financial inclusion, thus creating employment opportunities while serving the broader community.

7. Leapfrogging Development: Developing economies can leapfrog stages of development by embracing technology. The adoption of mobile banking and digital payment solutions, for example, can provide access to financial services for previously unbanked populations and create jobs in the financial technology sector.

In conclusion, while the tech industry is not a standalone solution, dismissing it as a mere bubble undermines its potential to catalyze economic growth, create jobs, and drive positive change in developing economies like Nigeria. Embracing technology and cultivating a supportive ecosystem can complement other measures to tackle unemployment challenges and contribute to a more sustainable and inclusive future. A balanced approach that leverages the advantages of technology while addressing its limitations can pave the way for transformative opportunities in developing economies.

This is it! The summary of all I have been saying, even on another thread.

Nigerians need to quit this bandwagon effect.

Everything is about quick money to them... That's why they keep getting scammed.

Even this Japa syndrome too... Many of them are better off here in Nigeria, but they have chosen to pursue fairy tales.

I disagree with you op tech is not a pyramid scheme that will crash one day, instead tech is growing stronger. I advice everyone who can read and write to learn cyber security today. Note that tech is self regulatory, meaning as a quark you cannot practice. There is no one sector that can employ every body.

You are right.

Tech industry is already saturated as we speak, though I believe there is still space for any one who can persevere and distinguish himself.

Secondly, the industry is fast paced so much that a skill you learnt today can become obsolete tomorrow, no, thanks to AI.

Saturated? If anything we haven't even used half of that capacity yet. No enough Cloud Engineers, AI engineers, cloud security specialists, game developers, conversational builders etc.

See ehn, make una leave all these yans.

If you know what you're doing, tech Jobs will come for you.
Question is, how are you going about it. How much knowledge do you have in the whole tech eco-system.

It's not all about html, css and js or python and golang.

The bottom line is, The Nigerian tech market is not mature atall.
Imagine quoting a project in USD in Nigeria and they complain that why are you quoting in USD, then you try doing it in Naira... the money come plenty...

The next thing the person will call you is theif grin

The problem is not Tech, we the people are the real problems.

Everyone in Naija wants the best services at a mediocre cost. Tech isn't magic.
Tech is GIGO (Garbage in, Garbage out). Na wetin you give am, e go give you.

You do not expect to grow beyond what you see if you don't feed your curiosity đź’Ż

I am not the best, I mean no even sabi anything but then, one thing I know about the knowledge you choose to feed yourself in Tech is you have to diversify.
The only thing I crave is to build out unique ideas and watch it boom.

Na wetin dey my mind. Naija sabi spoil better thing.

Tech isn't going nowhere, it's a journey and for the journey, if you tire, you got sitdon or you give up.

There are over 60 Million unemployed and soon-to-be employed youths in Nigeria... How many of them are in tech that's making you create threads?!!

Do you know how many Asians and Americans are into various areas of tech, yet their tech industries are nowhere near saturated?!!

It takes more than trends to excel in any field, and as we speak there are more fields springing up... The revolution hasn't even started globally.

I agree that Nigerians tend to bullrush anything trending, but the weeds will always get separated from the wheat.

Only those truly gifted and passionate about tech will succeed there.

You have a point concerning the type of people that have success stories in tech.

The nature of the tech industry of any economy is linked to the nature of the economy itself.

Advanced economies such as those of Asian and American countries are really diverse hence they have more areas tech can be applied to, hence less talent saturation.

It's always been very funny to me when people come with pitchforks to attack the tech industry in Nigeria like it's a bubble or other nonsense.

Electrical, mechanical and petroleum engineering jobs that have been seriously bastardized with barely any job openings except being a maths teacher for private secondary schools, where are the articles?

Law as a course where over 70% of the graduates end up selling imported goods from china, where are the articles?

Aside from the healthcare, every field that was once lucrative has little to nothing to offer new graduates and no one talks about it

But for tech every ekuke with internet connection go dey open their silly little mouth dey shout "it is overrated".

Ogbeni shut the fûck up and do whatever it is you want to do. Una body odor dey disturb the environment.

Thanks bro, I'm tired of seeing all these tech is saturated talks, is there really a course or career not saturated? There are fucking billions of people in the world, and millions unemployed, then how else do they expect a career not to be saturated? They can only say tech is gaining attention not saturated, just like every bother courses out there, being good and unique is the only way to make a difference...

Like everything in life, there is always the peak period. Tech is not exempted.

However, the issue in Nigeria is most people go into tech without understanding the fundamentals. They don't know why we use what. They just use it. When the bubble crashes down, they will be the first to be swept off. It also makes them limited in their thought.

Tech is not easy. It is hard. It keeps changing and evolving. Only those who understand the basic will last.

If we'll deployed, tech will create lot of digital jobs that will solve greater percentage of our employment.

3) AI will change job market in 2 years. This is not bubble that will burst. Like. MM Or crypto.
