When I see some comments here I just laugh. Some people comment as if presidential campaign is still ongoing. Some comments here will make you wonder if Nigeria has got a president yet. Lol. |
Nigeria should focus on its problems , We should not get dragged into other people problems . The world is divided between westerners and others .Niger as a country should not and must not be a proxy war between NATO and Russia . Nigeria as a country should play larger sized role in diplomacy ,we should send Buhari for diplomatic talks and peace deals , War is not at an option for Nigeria at this critical time . Just like Buhari made Goodluck a peace ambassador , Tinubu should think along the same lines .
You get sense. Infact, Nigeria should do all in its lower to avoid any form of military intervention in Niger which my lead to another civil war. We cannot handle the refugee crisis that will result from such crisis, Moreover, flooding Niger with weapons like they did in Libya will seriously destroy the precarious security in neighbouring countries. Since the coup is already successful, the best action is to negotiate with the coup leaders and ensure stability first before further actions. Tinubu should avoid being used by the west oh |

Bad governance and failures of democratically elected presidents to fulfill promises made during elections are the rationale behind coups that are being witnessed in some African countries. The smiles on the faces of the Niger people say it all. Military administration in Africa has brought more development to the people than the Westernized copied and paste democracy. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Niger is not a socialist country, they don't dress anyhow or watch BBN or flex party etc. they are not even social media enthusiasm so military regime won't affect them much. Nah u go shout pass. |

GreatrAnalyst: Nigeria is not the only nation leading this campaign, we have ECOWAS, AU, US, France etc all in support and mobilizing to achieve the aim of neutralizing military rule in Niger. However, with Mali and Burkina Faso entry, it's a welcome development to demonstrate once again that no military coup will be allowed in Africa. If the coup succeeds in Niger, it will definitely spread to all Africa. That's the beginning of regression. We can't afford it. 4 Likes |

favor914:I lived under military governments and I can tell you that military governments achieved more in terms of infrastructure, national cohesion and economic discipline than civilian administrations. The main problem with military regimes were human rights abuses, political instability due to lack of adequate means of succession of power and dictatorship as there was no means to control the head of state outside a coup. The irony is that military governments obeyed court orders than civilian governments. |

waveman2: Exactly. We have bad leaders in Democracy. That is why the people support and prefer military government. Check all the six west African countries that have had military take over recently(Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso, Sudan,Chad and our neighbour Niger). Their people appear happy with the military takeover. See the jubilation and looting in Niger. Why? Because the people are not happy with the bad leaders they had. I pray Nigeria doesn't get to the level where people loose hope in Democracy and clamour for military government because I know military regime is bad. Abacha's regime is still fresh in most people's mind! |

This wave will enter Cameroon next. Paul Biya has over stayed. He is the second-longest-ruling president in Africa, the longest consecutively serving current non-royal national leader in the world and the oldest head of state in the world. No country in the world is immuned of coup....either military or civilian coup. 1 Like |

forgiveness: I agree with you. We must find a way of removing (or rather negotiating) these military regimes from power without breaking the China shop. I do not not want West Africa to the the next theatre in proxy war between Russia, China and the West. Having said that, we also need a way to curtail the excesses of our civilian governments, particularly in terms of election manipulations and corruption. |

tsdarkside: Show me someone who only sees things with tribal glasses and I'll show you a compound fool. If you're representing your tribe, then foolery must be very prevalent amongst you, that you don't realize a proxy war will have economic and security consequences for Nigeria. Why not advise your scalar-quantity of a president to sit his ass down and use diplomacy. As rugged as PMB was, what was ECOWAS able to do when same situation played out in Mali, B/F and others? He simply knew the limits of his power, he used diplomacy more (GEJ), because he's pan-African not pro-west. Your druggie presido wants legitimacy by all means, but he may lose his base (Nigeria). |
