This England team are beatable.China were giving them to much spaces, that's why they are receiving this much goals.I think falcons can handle them. They are way taller than the Chinese also. |

2 things Nigeria should do before Monday. 1. Improve significantly on our forward transition. We must deal with the lose passes and take better care of the ball. 2. Randy needs to work in the psych of the players. They must not let today's result let them gitter or lose confidence. The first 10 minutes of the game will be crucial. We typically grow into games and settle thereafter. 5 Likes 1 Share |

lovewins: At least our Ladies are currently watching this game and seeing everything going on… Enough time to recover and plan our way out.. This time we have to go extra mile to go past the English side.. 4 Likes 1 Share

Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lovewins: 1:59pm On Aug 01, 2023 |
Deltamani: Not "extra mile" per se. They are not extraordinary. We just need to keep our defensive posture and take our chances. Go watch England against Haiti and you'll see what I'm saying. The English team were so useless. The beauty of knockout stages is that we both have something to lose. It will affect both teams game plan. My hope is that they underestimate us. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Look at the way England women are playing like men while our girls are still struggling to pass the ball between themselves Is there hope like this? |
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lovewins: 2:02pm On Aug 01, 2023 |
I'm not even surprised at the pessimism of some people. Most never even gave the girls any chance. Most opined that we were going to lose 3 games and come home, we however qualified from the group unbeaten conceding only 2 goals with 2 clean sheets. Monday is almost here, and really hoping you're surprised again. 8 Likes 1 Share |

lovewins: Are you minding them, even waldrum said no-one gave them a chance of qualifying. Now that we've succeeded instead of being at least happy but No we want to reach the quarter and semis all of a sudden.. lol 2 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Curtisaxel10: 2:17pm On Aug 01, 2023 |
That game against Ireland was very winnable. Waldrum really forked up by having his team sit back even when we could qualify even with a 1-0 loss. Ireland was comfortable only when we allowed them to be. We really should have maintained an intense attack in the second half and gotten the win. Now, it's England for us. 1 Like |

kheny12: When I saw that Ireland was ranked TWENTY places above the Super Falcons despite the fact that the Irish have never been to the World Cup or any other major tournament before this one if I am not mistaken.......that was when I realized what a joke the FIFA ranking is. 1 Like 1 Share |

Well, England's backline looked slightly suspect when they moved high up the pitch and were faced with counterattacks. That could well prove to be their Achilles' heel when they meet us. But we need x3 of our defensive discipline that day. Any small mistake, otilo o! 1 Like |

Curtisaxel10: You can only talk like this if you've never managed a team. We went into the game against a team that had nothing to lose and were playing for pride. We also went into the game with the possibility of not qualifying if we lost by 2 goals and Canada also lost by just 1 goal. These were all possibilities. As a manager, you job is to manage the situation. The first goal is to qualify, and that meant playing cautiously. That obviously affected the girls too as they played with a lost of nerves cause that was our worst first half since the competition began. We didn't even play that badly against better teams. The girls got I to the dressing room, and realized that Canada was down by 2 goals. What that meant was that Ireland needed to score 3 goals for us not to qualify. When they realized we were better positioned, they came all out in the second half and we were the better side. We were just unfortunate not to have scored. Even when we played badly in the first half, we had chances but unfortunately couldn't bury them. To the bolded. There's a situation where we would have lost 1-0 and Canada could also have lost 3-2 and we would be out. This only showed you didn't consider every situation possible which I believe Randy did. 7 Likes 1 Share |

PDPGuy: Not sure Gift will start, but really hope Kanu doesn't. We need someone who can play with Alozie on the right and Gift did better, even though I felt she also had her own issue. There was one run Alozie made and she beat her man, and Kanu just stayed back looking. Not sure if anyone saw that but I was so furious. If Randy can drill gift to play improve significantly defensively and also to not hold in to the ball to much, I won't mind him starting her. 6 Likes |

With Rose Lavelle out of the US’s game against Sweden (let’s face it, no miracle will prevent Sweden from winning the group😁), the Swedes will have bear free reign in the midfield |
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by PDPGuy: 2:39pm On Aug 01, 2023 |
lovewins: Yeah, I agree Gift doesn’t work as much defensively as Kanu. Aside from her goal and attempt vs Ireland that produced the save of the tournament, Kanu has been underwhelming at this WC. If Oparanozie is fully fit, I wouldn’t mind if she starts on Monday, most especially if Waldrum goes with a 3-5-2. With that formation, Oparanozie would, among other things, be tasked with holding up the ball to bring in Ajibade/Alozie 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by lovewins: 2:51pm On Aug 01, 2023 |
PDPGuy: I disagree with your first statement o. Gift is a thousand times better than Kanu defensively. While it's true Kanu has been underwhelming, I also won't fault her too much as she's primarily a 9. She does better in the box and excels when her only responsibility is to score goals. Not sure about Oparanozie sha. It will be experimenting with someone who is battling with fitness and is yet to kick a ball. That's too much gamble. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

lovewins: Gift jelled better with Alozie. I wouldn't mind her starting over Kanu. The other alternative is Ordega who at this point is worse than Kanu and Gift. 1 Like 1 Share |
