You are in South America?

Always thought you were in asia or so?

Not in South America. But if I am migrate today, I will do as Tensa. It is a faster route to achieve what I want. Spanish is easier to learn.

Boss, sorry to ask o. I guess you were (or are) working remotely with a foreign firm as a developer. Why didn't you consider the digital nomad route instead of going with studies?

Not all countries have a digital nomad visa. I have a very specific reason for coming to Chile though and the study route was the easiest way to access that also I need the degree for something else too. I might as well just get it grin

Did you take your flight from Nigeria?

Considering how expensive flight is in Nigeria, is it advisable to go from say, Ghana? Is it even possible?

I'm guessing you are doing Computer Science?

If yes, did you have any challenge gaining admission to study it since you didn't do computer science in your bsc?

I am actually doing data science. Data science is much more professional so they let me in once they knew I had experience in software engineering. Flight was from Nigeria. It's cheaper in Ghana by like a 100k naira so wasn't worth it going from there.

The airport I posted was the local airport o. One thing I noticed about Chile is how accessibility is taken into account in everything. In every building in Chile both government and private, there's access for disabled folks. In the airport, there's support for those who are disabled.

True. Chile is a bit expensive to study in but so much cheaper than Europe. Brazil is free and if one has 2 to 3 million that's still accessible. Brazil is also a very good country. Like very good.

Nice one Tensa,
One thing I learned is to always walk a path less threaded. It always pays off.

I left Naija early this year and keep blessing God every second for the opportunity and experience.

See you at the top man.

Yeah it's always funny to me when I see people killing themselves over the popular destinations when a lot of unknown places still gives you everything and are a solid stepping stone to your final destination.

Lol been working on this Chile matter since like 2020 na. Had to save money and learn the language. I had cold feet initially cause I was trying other options but they didn't work out so I just went head in last year and intensified everything.

Oh people should research more. There's solid options out there though blocked off by language barrier. I have been to Europe precisely Italy. Was in la spezia and went all the way to Milan and explored a few border towns close to Switzerland and Chile is a very much more developed country than Italy. I am not even in the capital city of Santiago. These guys have built a paradise for themselves here cheesy cheesy

Well to be honest I wont blame them. I used to think African and south american countries were the same level until I got into tech and started looking into jobs in other countries. Africans are at the bottom of the human race. You can't even compare the most developed country in Africa to even Peru. We don't know how finished we are. We don't even have roads. What did Nigeria do with the first 20 years of independence. No roads o. I am going out today and will put in more pictures

Internet infrastructure in Chile is very developed. Honestly if not for making calls you can live without getting a sim card. There's literally internet everywhere. From the airport to taxis to trains to buses to restaurants. Just putting up your wifi on any streets brings like 3 free wifi networks and this isn't even the capital city. The capital is Santiago and that's like 7 hours from here. Internet here is also very very fast. Screenshot is from the wifi at the Airbnb I am staying at
Congrats smiley

Bants aside, OP has been consistent and persistent in this journey. He did his research really hard and persevered. He applied delayed gratification, saved, curtailed lifestyle inflation etc. He prepared for the worst while in Nigeria because one never loses betting against Nigeria. He deserves it, and I am extremely happy for him.

He has succeeded, and together, we would run things. Expect to see us partying in Brazil, Barbados, Bahamas, Chile, Panama etc.

We would paint Nairaland redddddddddddd grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

God has finally done it for me grin. 3 years worth of work came to fruition and I was able to japa to Chile tongue tongue tongue. Sharing some pics from my trip and my everyday life on this thread. This is for those who think that south america is hell. Theres a lot of amazing countries in the world. You need to research and figure out what works for you. My flight was from Lagos to doha to Brazil and then finally to Chile. I didn't really start taking any pics until I got into Chile. I am sure you can find thousands of pictures about Brazil, Qatar or Lagos online but hardly anyone has posted anything about Chile.

The first pic is me In the plane crossing the Andes mountains. The light in the distance is the city of santiago.

Second is the airport in concepcion.

Third is my Uber ride from the airport to my Airbnb

Omo, Tensa don port. grin
