Please if anybody can help me with any little amount to eat I will be very happy. Feeding is a big problem for me and my family please no matter how small. Reversing might be your biggest mistake in this circumstance. Spikes on the road means you're largely expected to stop once you spot them, and attempt to turn around. Don't!

If the road has shoulders, no matter how slim, use either the left or right shoulder and speed through. Even if the shoulders are covered by high rising shrubs, drive through it.

And except you carry a gun in that vehicle or on your person, the one thing you don't want to do is come down to remove the blockade .

I don't think there's a right or wrong answer, just follow ur instincts and hope u are right. It is possible the person that put this expects u to run through it and might be waiting for u about 1-2 kn away when ur tires would have already gone flat. It is also possible that there are more spikes up ahead, in that case u will definitely get immobilized by the other spikes.

Reversing? It is possible the person expects u to stop and reverse, so by the time u are stopped to go into reverse he has already put spikes behind u. So honestly there's no right or wrong answer. Follow ur instincts.

The worst encountered was Headlights turning off without any technical issues, turned on touch light and it went off too.

That was all it took to divert them off

O.P in a situation like this, when you get to the spot, just put off your headlights, throttle the vehicle as if you're zooming off, quietly come down from the car and quickly move away the one that's the main obstacle.
Watch out for either torch light or vehicle light, if you see any torch light, quickly take cover on the bush depending on the direction the light is coming from.
If you see no light, quickly move back to your car, central lock and zoom off.

Easier said than done.
But if your heart is at your back, be rest assured you're free.

As a professional driver, what would you do if this was the only way to your destination?

Me: I will reverse asap, go and look for a hotel nearby to pass the night. Life is so precious, what if they pop out from the bush with Ak-47 riffles. A lot can go wrong. The only option for me is to reverse and never look back. Eni ori yo odi le, Ire ooo

Something similar happened to us in the 1990s when coming from Ondo.

Around Ijebu Ode, our car went over tomatoes and peppers along the road.

One of our tyres got punctured and we were compelled to park and change it. Where we parked, there were 3 other cars too whose typres were being changed. A man from one of those cars came to meet. This man was shaking faster than a ceiling fan and he begged us to act as one

However, once his tyre was fixed, he zoomed off. Another car soon zoomed off. It was now left us and another car, a Vboot that was behind us. Once we changed our tyre, my dad had this fantastic idea. Guess what it was?

He said we should help the vboot family behind us. So, we reversed a bit and we started helping them. Suddenly, we saw boys with machetes coming out from the other side of the road with a frightening war cry.

My dad instantly fled into the bush. The owner of the vboot did likewise, leaving his wife and sister. I was left with my aunt (my dad's older sister) and the driver.

When the robbers got to us, they started attacking the driver, trying to pry the keys of the Mercedes Benz 230 (na 1980s model, I no use am pose) but he refused to let go. My aunty who had laid on the backseat to hide some valuables was pulled out and slammed on the floor. I have to be honest, I'm not sure if they took some money or valuables.

Meanwhile, where was I? I just stupidly stood there saying to myself "Since I have no money, they won't be interested in me." With detached eyes, I watched everything. Funny thing is that they did not bother me.

As for the vboot ladies, the robbers harassed them and stole some valuables. One was a clothing material that I had never heard off at that time.

The robbers disappeared as soon as they came. Once gone, my aunt started wailing, "abuo mi, abuo mi, abuo mi!" As my dad was taken long to come out from the bush. This literally translates as "my younger brother, my younger brother." (In the Ondo dialect, there is no R). My dad was like the pillar of the family. All her children at one time or the other went through our house.

My mom had even seen a letter her daughter wrote to my dad stating if my dad hadn't married, he would have been able to help her. My mom was livid but never voiced it out. This was when they were a struggling couple in England in my dad uni days.

Anyways, my dad eventually came out from the bush and the vboot owner as well. We went to the police station to file a report. The sister of the vboot owner was expressing her rage over her stolen Hollandis and she blamed her sister in law for it. She didn't seem grateful that her life had been spared and with no injuries sustained.

We left the police station and restarted our journey to Lagos together. However, they increased their speed and vanished. Our Mercedez could not catchup with a Vboot.

Bunch of ingrates. People who we sacrificed our lives for.
