Why Senate Should Not Approve Military Action In Niger - Shehu Sani by Penguin2: 10:21pm On Aug 04, 2023 |
Some people are urging Tinubu on, to invade Niger Republic. They call themselves patriots. And accuse every voice of reason that is telling them to abort mission as being unpatriotic. They are so sure that Nigeria will obliterate Niger in few hours. But these same people were so sure that Russia would finish off Ukraine in 72 hours but one year after, and Russia can’t point at one thing it has achieved in Ukraine. I’m sure the only reason Russia is still in Ukraine is because of pride. Those opposing invasion of Niger are not being unpatriotic, we are actually the patriots. We have more pressing issues at home front as already enunciated by Chief Bode George. Let’s face those issues and leave Niger alone. If anything, the people seem to be happy. Let’s leave them to their destiny. A word is enough for the wise. The Nigerian Senate should NOT approve any military action against Niger Republic. This country should not be plunged into war and eventually stuck in war in the Sahel. President Tinubu shouldn’t allow himself to be misled by foreign powers. Saudi in Yemen, America in Afghanistan and now Russia in Ukraine should teach us a lesson that war doesn’t end in days, weeks or months.https://twitter.com/shehusani/status/1687467601637642243?s=46&t=2AB_wrBea-oBYJf5ZCFV-A 82 Likes 6 Shares

This Neejay state should be handled with iron hand. Those criminals from there sneaking into our country would no longer have access. Niger is about to feel the wrath of Nigeria. Too much familiarity breeds contempt. Buhari squandered our resources on them, pampered them and fraternized with them too much. They're about to know what time it is. kettykings:No. I think this might be different. I was just discussing this with a friend. I told him that the Senate might not approve Tinubu’s request and there’s nothing Rubber Stamp Akpabio can do to help him. The calculation is simple. APC has 59 senators or thereabout. The opposition has 50 senators. The northern senators in APC after meeting with northern stakeholders will never support military action in Niger because they will suffer it most. Any war in Niger will see people of Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, etc, becoming displaced because those states will be the flashpoint. Now, add about 20 northern senators in APC to 50 opposition senators, you will get 70. Any bill with 70 senators against it is dead on arrival. 91 Likes 12 Shares |

What points do the pro-war faction make to support their position? I am American so I'm not really familiar with Nigerian politics. The American media is drumming up suport against the junta in Niger by characterizing them as pro-Russia. What are they saying in Nigeria? 17 Likes 3 Shares |

Regional security is key When Hillary Clinton and Obama started in Libya with Gaddafi nobody thought the mess would escalate Now without A leader like Ghadafi Libya became major route for Drugs, Gun and Human trafficking Northern Nigeria still suffers for the instability of Libya, with Boko Haram and ISwap getting weapons Right now Niger Coupist claim they staged coup because of lack of Economic growth Can a Soldier trained for battle guarantee Economic growth?! . 76 Likes 3 Shares |

Curse777:So you have not heard them complain that sometimes they come face to face with insurgents and when they try to engage the terrorists, President Bazoum will ask them to seek the permission of the French forces first? The terrorists don’t need permission to kill them but they needed permission both from the president and French forces before they can engage the terrorists. They were dying in battlefield. In a war that seemed to be sponsored by the imperialists who are not sincere about ending it. That’s their major grouse. 86 Likes 7 Shares |

TemplarLandry:You don't get it. Northern Nigeria is more connected to Niger than the rest of Nigeria. They won't allow any border wall or sanction as they feel Niger is also like them. Buhari pamper them gave them cars , rail way even oil. Military intervention in Niger will break Nigeria I can assure you that. It takes a very wise leader to lead Nigeria. 23 Likes 3 Shares |

Sincerely, I do not get the rationale about the proposed invasion. Though, I understand that action must be swift in order to discourage the 'coup notion' in the minds of other Nations going through hell (Nigeria comes to mind). However, when your home is disorganized and not settled, common sense requires you to fix that before going to fix your neighbor's home. Well, what do I know? TemplarLandry: This small poorly raised child keeps typing rubbish . I dont Blame you, your parents feed you, so you don't understand the concept of consequences yet . You don't even know Russia has been stuck in a war in Ukraine for over one year now . All you watch are cartoons and porn. You think this is a video game? After beating your parents you take drugs and come on the internet to type nonsense as usual. For over 10 years Saudi has been at war in Yemen, A never ending war. Russia a super power invaded Ukraine a none super power and yet one year Russia is struggling. Is it now Nigeria who can't defeat bokoharam that will handle Niger with iron hand ? Ypu kids are just dumb and because of drugs yu take you don't reason well. You If Nigeria invades Niger just know that in no time you would be on the run hiding due to bombs dropping from the sky. Then you would miss this peace you are taking for granted that allows you to Take drugs and type rubbish online 25 Likes 5 Shares |
