My brother, SS was engineered by Alex Ekwueme to give non Ibos in SS a voice at National level.... It's actually geographically wrong as you said

Unfortunately some disgruntled elements in SS region will turn around and tell you that Ibos are not happy about SS, how can they not be happy about what they created ?

I have told SE Ibos on this forum to focus on Ibo nation and leave non Ibos in SS to their fate.. When it comes to Nig break up, only Akwa cross align with SE.. Others are on the fence waiting for where Nigeria is swinging to ..

I only want Ibo nation that comprised SE Ibos and SS Ibos starting from My Anioma to Opobo .. Others should remain where they are.. If they want to join there should be a written agreement..

It's very simple the region was created so that the people will have sense of belonging, the same thing is applicable to NC

South-South is a GeoPolitical zone just as North-Central. This is not a matter of bearing or compass North and South stuff.

In geography as I was taught in CKC then, There's SSE and SSW in the 16 coordinate compass system

they are called geopolitical zones in Nigeria, hence the mapping is adjudged to be wrongly done. It would have made more sense if they had used ethnic names instead, because Akwa cross location as SS makes no sense.

Akwa-Cross is under the zone named SS, not because it's in the South. It's a name.

Not just because it's in the SS rather. These regions were divided based on ethnicity (majorly), but they were not named ethically because their were other minorities living in Nigeria and it wouldn't be fair to do so.

I have not seen anyone from SS complaining about the name, it's always the south east that isn't comfortable with it.
Please let us be, we do not have problem with the SE people but we are comfortable with the name SS name.

The old eastern Nigeria was a British created lumped contraption just as the almagation of 1914.
Why are they the only ones refusing to see to the end of this colonial map?

First the coup of Jan 15 botched the federal parliament from creating COR region out of the eastern region. Then Ojukwu declared Biafra because Gowon created old Rivers and old Cross River out of the eastern region to now bitching over SS as a geopolitical region. Only Ibos continue to berate SS region as a seperate distinct geopolitical entity that has constitutional backing. Not the Fulani. Definitely not the SW. Only Ibos are obsessed in seeing to SS dragged back into the old Ibo dominated Eastern region.

Even their latest Biafra madness isn't complete without dragging SS .

See even what Nnmadi Kanu had to say about SS people and the region as a whole:

it was done according to the four cardinal points, the SE /SS mapping was a deliberate action. It would have even made more sense if it was called East central instead of SE, how can one explain the reason Cross River and Edo states are part of SS?
