Deadline For Niger Coup Leaders To Restore Democracy Arrives by realonebizschl: 6:02pm On Aug 06, 2023
Leaders of Niger's military coup face a deadline of 6 August to release and reinstate the democratically elected President Mohamed Bazoum.

The cut-off date was set by the regional bloc known as ECOWAS and if demands are not met it may face foreign military intervention.

Residents in Niamey, like Bachirou Seyni, are hoping that will not happen.

"From my point of view, the [threatened] attack is unfounded and should not take place," he says.

"We're on the road to democracy and in a democracy it's talks that have to take place, so there's no need to take up arms for that."

It was first reported that ECOWAS was refusing to consider military intervention and to focus on sanctions. But later, the bloc's military leaders said they had drawn up a plan for an armed invasion if the coup leaders didn't back down.

Ben Hassane Salha also lives in the capital.

"I don't think that attacking Niger in the near future will be limited to economic sanctions, and the Nigerien people will suffer at first."

Life is already getting harder as economic sanctions have led to price rises for basic products like rice and vegetables.

Farida Ide Zakari has struggled to do her usual shop.

"We're very worried because the banks have been closed, we can no longer withdraw money and there's a rise in food prices.

"Now because of the closure [of borders] and [bank] accounts, subsistence is getting harder and harder in Niamey, really."

Borders are closed and Nigeria has cut its electricity supply to Niger, leading to longer and more frequent power cuts.

NIGER REPUBLIC: Today is the D-day. And just early yesterday, when it appeared all was going according to plans, the head of French military in Niger was quoted as saying the new military regime in Niger should prepare to vacate the government house today, Sunday, for their preferred guy, the ousted Bezoum. Incidentally, the last batch of the Wagner PMC units arriving in Niger, reportedly came in last night aboard an II-76 military transport plane as revealed in a video that some now think is fake, and it’s NOT. So, after their arrival, the Niger military announced a total cancellation of the military pact the country has with France, which is also part of the “pact for the continuation of colonization” that sister Arikana spoke about, that I made videos about, years ago, and you can see the videos below:

Mali and Burkina Faso did the same thing and that’s how they got French soldiers out of their countries for good. This was coming on the heels of French soldiers refusing to leave, even after they had been asked to leave by the new administration. Their thought was that something was going to give. But as it stands right now, even though things are still sketchy, it doesn’t appear ECOWAS is prepared and United enough for the so called military intervention in Niger. Even if it was, having the backing of Wagner PMC/RUSSIA and Algeria/Egypt and Burkina Faso and Mali, Guinea and other secrete supporters is something that if you were in ECOWAS’ shoes, you’d think twice about.

This is why the new Nigerien government has now gone ahead to give French soldiers 30days within which they are to leave the country, after wide consultations with their allies. And if after 30 days they don’t leave voluntarily, they’ll most likely be forced to leave. This is the situation right now.

Also developing, Chad, which was supposed to be on the side of France just announced at the dying minute that it would not take part in any military action against Niger. The French really really banked on Chad’s support, until the announcement by Daoud Yaya Brahim, the Chadian Defense Minister, a short while ago. That’s a huge hole in France’s so called broad alliance against Niger. Not looking good for them at all.

Also, the Algerian president, Abdelmadjid Taboun, speaking Saturday on Enahar TV network, was quoted as saying that “The possibility of foreign military intervention in Niger is an immediate threat to Algeria. We categorically reject any military intervention.” He also said, “Algeria has a border of a thousand kilometers with Niger. There will be no solution without us, as we are the main stakeholders.”

He then went ahead to ask the supporters of military intervention, “What is the state of countries where there have been military interventions? Look at what is happening in Libya, Syria. Possible military intervention could ignite the entire Sahel region,” he added.

Given the foregoing, I have serious doubts that the much talked about military intervention will ever happen. And if that is the case, it’s fair to say at this point that France has technically, potentially, officially lost another hugely, massively and strategically important colony in Africa. A massive blow if you ask me. And the blow here isn’t even that France and the EU will lose access to cheap uranium and gold in large quantities, but the fact that this Niger thing will immediately embolden and activate sleeper cells of anti-French elements in the remaining pro-France colonies on the continent and give them the impetus to try. And in a matter of a few years, there may be not one pro-France or Pro-colonial Europe regime left anywhere on the continent. And like I’ve said in previous posts, I think AFRICA and Africans are ready!

Africa my AFRICA!

It's so unfortunate, that Ecowas under the leadership of Tinubu will not be able to do anything tangible, because Tinubu himself knows he was not constituted legally, and most Ecowas countries know this.

He is not in a position to condemn a cope in another country when he himself was forcefully imposed on the people of Nigeria. That's more of a civilian cope and besides Niger citizens are happy about the cope so I see no reason why anyone should complain except for their own selfish hidden agenda.

Am telling you, making Tinubu the Ecowas head was a big mistake, there are other Ecowas countries president that would have fill that sit at as this point in time, see the disgrace he is going through now, someone that never won an election in his own country wants to go and lead Ecowas.

ECOWAS & AU should know by now that their failure to promote good governance, Prosperity and rule of law in Africa has made them obsolete and irrelevant in contemporary global Politics.

The popular wind of Military leadership is blowing across the continent. Military Government of West Africa State (MIGWAS) & African Military Government Union (AMGU) is taking over the fomers for corruption-free
good governance.

I just don't know why politicians are so corrupt, African countries have adequate resources to cater to their citizens yet most West African Countries are like dumping grounds.

Since france left mali and Burkina Faso and are now with Russia tell us now are they better than before? Is half the population no longer poor? From one chain to another and your here rejoicing.. Why mot stand on their own? Why facing Russia? Before they followed Russia didn't they look at the condition of Russians themselves? Are Russian happy with their own government? Blind people everywhere
