vacanci:Bro you get his drift. In bet naija you put thousands of naira hoping to be the next dangota very easy. HE won't understand those who bought fbn at Po in millions of naira at #33.00 and have continued to invest millions to build wealth .That part of ways to reap from your investment is via dividend. And that the directors are employee of this public company. In some instances don't even have reasonable quality of that particular company shares. That they could be removed at agm or thr decisions not approved . Imagine money some people have planned on what to do with it at this time.Ask the directors if they have shifted collecting all the monies due to them 5 Likes |

talk2me2: Jobless ƙeh, when you have investments paying your bills. Na so one guy said his landlord was a jobless man, a man with 4 houses, a warehouse and 2 shopping complexes that will be giving him an annual passive income of over N15 million. If you have been investing for 20 years and above and your dividends can pay your bills, what do you need a 9 to 5 job for. To those guys attending AGM, audit committee meetings and investment roadshows are the only jobs they have. Someone sold his UBA shares for good, few years ago because Tony reduced dividends, that shows how important dividends are to some investors 19 Likes |

talk2me2: There are many lawsuits filed by and diligently/persistently followed by shareholders (regardless of how little their stakes are) in markets in many countries where the rule of law and fundamental rights are not taken for granted. Bunge, a company in the USA has finalized talks and works to aquire Viterra (some still call it merger), but farmers who supply the grains that these companies proces and export are the ones protesting against the approval of the acquisition because they believe that it will strengthen the former through monopoly, resulting in the former dictating prices at which farm produce will be sold - farmers would have no control over how much they sell their produce to the giant company(s) anymore. Plug power is another one. Shareholders filed a class action suit because the management shocked them with much below expectation results in the face of obvious growth and positive buisness outlook/environment. These two cases that I cited are just the ones I paid good attention to. If one is to go by your opinion, how would one then explain how suppliers of raw materials identify their rights to block an acquisition, or how shareholders identify their rights to question the financial reports that the management is feeding them? Once we sell ourselves cheap, we can never be listed at our actual value ever! - a popular adage. Those shareholders protesting the First bank AGM matters know their rights. People should not have to sell their shares because the management team is acting funny. 9 Likes |

We are enjoying e-dividends today because of the efforts of some people who knew their rights. The experience keeps getting better with more people who know their rights and won't stop till they get the convenience that they deserve/desire. 12 Likes |

Deadlytruth:I anticipated this reply.. Hence I stated "when the company did not make loss" The company declared profits from my investment so I have a right to vote to determine my dividends.. And if not, they must substantiate with reasons. All these has to happen at the AGM u said I shouldn't care about? 2 Likes |

talk2me2: By being an investor you are technically a part owner of a company(despite less than 0.1% shareholding ) = a stakeholder as well. U guys don't see it that way.. I am not forcing "a" company.. I am doing my legal part in compelling "my" company. 2) Comfortable date The issue at stake is there is an underlying issue which the protesters believe is for FBN to frustrate majority of them from voting against the right issue at the AGM and other decisions of the bank(like new Director approval).. seems before the date, they discovered they(FBN) may not be able to hold the aces and wield decisions in their favour.. You just have to read the full news and article on it not just the image posted on NL. |

talk2me2:You will have to give substantive reason to shareholders.. Especially when u declared profit after tax huge enough to go round shareholders.. If they want to keep all of it as retained earnings.. Why? Is it new investment in an entity all agreed by shareholders.. Or paying off existing debt at once ? instead of servicing same loans quarter by quarter which costs more? Summary is.. There must be a genuine reason that can buy in majority of shareholders.. Otherwise u must pay dividend!!! |
