1- how about your ALX course, are you certified and are you using it to work?
2- you're studying law, taking time consuming course, practice your course, working with 3 or 4 different companies, reading your books and interacting with people. Please summarized how you do it.

I took a break from ALX on my 6th month. I will finish it later, though I'm not sure of the "when".

My lifestyle is quite simple. I don't really have a social life for now (I pretty much avoided all my faculty parties). I am usually in my apartment sleeping or most times; I am in the Computer department working (They have free Wi-Fi, table and chair for working).

I interact with people only when I am in the CS department and I just finished my exams, so I am currently free to work and learn.
It is currently 3 jobs - One frontend role and two Technical writing roles.

For the technical writing,the process involves sending a topic and outline to the companies. If they like it, I will write on the topic and get paid (They pay per article).

For the developer role, I work daily and have meetings only when necessary. For the fourth one, I have done the interview, the next step is passing a test before salary negotiation.

I got another offer this afternoon with a foreign company where someone referred me. The reason I still post here is to inspire developers out there.

I also wanted to note out something, some people would probably say I'm lucky because of my gender. Gender has nothing to do with this. Or maybe it does but not entirely.

The two companies I write for, I had to apply and show them samples of my work before receiving a response.

The Frontend developer job I got, I had to show them projects NOT list out I can do this, I can do that, no one is buying that.

The fourth job is from a mobile gaming company, the person referred me because I showed him my zeal to work and passion to learn from others.

Meanwhile, I intend to write an article title "Introduction To Technical Writing". It will explain the steps and process in getting into Technical Writing. I will also include materials and links to Technical Writing for free and where to apply for Technical Writing jobs. Since I have a lot on my hands, I will to post it between this week and next week.

1. No but it depends on what you want to write about. Most people write about their stack. You can write out Tech news, mindset and all that. But having knowing the basics of programming will help you


I don't only write about frontend but also DevOps, Cloud, Database. I write on topics which I know companies sought after.

So I'm glad to announce that I was referred to a foreign company that deals with game and crypto.

Did their interview and got hired. I received the message this morning. It came with monthly salary, the company token worth money (I won't state the amount, sorry) and other benefits.

Also, although I write for two companies, they both recently approved of the topics I sent. So I'm currently writing two articles for both companies. And finally, I have pending tasks from the company I currently work for.

I couldn't think of a unique name for this thread but I hope it serve its purpose.

I already have a thread in the diary section where I document about my journey as a developer but the essence of creating this one is because, there are times where I require the opinions or feedback of other devs, and I do receive mails with questions a little late, so think here as a safe space.

So... About my stack
I'm a front-end developer and a software engineer. Initially wanted to go for backend but due to certain reasons, I realize I enjoyed frontend more. My plan is to do MERN but I will get there while working as a front-end dev - Money must be made to encourage progress.

I took quite some time creating my roadmap because that way I can stay focused without being in doubt if there's more. I will be dropping the link I used and my personal roadmap.

I also have projects I have listed down, some of which I'm current building and some, in the future. Regarding my roadmap, I did state it is my personal roadmap which means you can create yours depending on your research.

Least I forget, I also write in the form of documenting my project, the problems I encountered and also solutions. It honestly hasn't been easy considering the fact that I'm a law student but It hasn't been easy for anyone going into programming.

Current Progress
I'm currently learning react and building projects. It hasn't been long since I started learning React and the reason I had to rush it is because I was referred to a company for internship and the take-home project given to me requires I know React. Though they were understanding enough to give me time but I know if I take too long, It is good as gone.

The aim of this thread is to continue documenting my journey and connect with developers because replying people's mail late is not polite. I also recently created a YouTube channel but still setting it up. I intend to post projects I build there. There are many benefits of having a YouTube channel but the most important one is that it improves one's skill as a developer. This is because you can't record some half-ass video and post there. Making research helps the quality of the content.

That's enough for now, back to work. I'm currently in the Computer Science department watching tutorials and I have plans to do overnight but I'm still contemplating it because of tomorrow's election.

We can properly communicate here Tobedated and I will check out the Twitter clone, also check out the latest project I posted.

So I found this thread on Nairaland two days back and it was a godsend for me. I'm crazily motivated and impressed with your journey and I'm glad you continued to document things here as they evolved. You are really amazing.

I've also been looking through the blog posts and other resources you shared, and they've helped oriented me to a degree, as I am a beginner technical writer; passionate about this and trying to learn where and when I can, but with no prior developer experience.

I recently completed Google's technical writing course and I'm currently learning about the basic structures of Markdown, CLI and Git/Github (not too foreign because I used to play with CMD on my family PC back in the day). I'm also working on starting a Hashnode blog to document the things I learn.

What I'd love to know now, however, are tips/advice from you on things/concepts/languages/etc. that` you think I should be focusing on now; that would really help.
