Please I need candid advice from seniors and experienced persons in Canada..I have financial background and my partner is business inclined.. I have Gotten ITA but presently confused on which province to target for settlement. My consideration is affordability and ease of settlement.
No family member in Canada just acquaintances.
I have streamlined my searches and enquires to Alberta; Edmonton and Calgary ,and Ontario with focus on Ottawa, Mississauga, Hamilton and Niagara region.

Please seniors and experienced persons in Canada..My enquires are;

✓Which province/city would you suggest my family and I settle.

✓Which province/city supports business persons more in terms of getting customers easily and government supports?

✓Which period/time of the year would you suggest I land?

✓Would you suggest I transition to Tech or continue in the financial sector.

there are people who went to Calgary but couldn’t get the jobs they desired. But got offers in Toronto and they moved. Some came to Toronto but are in BC today. Business in Canada and business in Nigeria are not same. Its better you continue in financial sector first, make some money and get experiences before thinking of tech which is now even saturated these days. Also with high interest rates rents everywhere has gone up , so affordability is an issue everywhere.
If your copr expiry falls in winter you have no choice than to come then. It wont kill you 😅.Ultimately the decision is yours.

Where ever you find job first is your home province. This means that you will have to live on your POF for anything between 1 week and 6 Months. Without job your POF will last twice longer in Alberta than in Ontario or BC. But you will have thrice as much opportunities for Financial roles in Ontario than Alberta. So the choice is yours. Also note that Alberta is more than Calgary & Edmonton. You have other places like Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Cold Lake, Brooks, Red deer etc which even have lesser cost of living than the popular two cities mentioned above, this means settling in any of them will even make your POF to stretch longer while you look for jobs.

Nigerians are never straight.

Always dodgy.

I agree not all Nigerians are straightforward however, I believe a far greater number of Nigerians are straight and wonderful.

Every country has its good, bad and ugly. We should not always generalize.

Yes I know but I don't care about the province so far as long as it is affordable for a starter

I am 31 years and I am in express pool with CRS of 366.
My wife 27 years is also in express entry pool with CRS score 469.

Please I need best advice to get PR in Canada fast.
Target is to get PR before one year in Canada.

I need experience and information that can help this out profile to become permanent residents.

realistically you cannot get pr under one year. When your wife graduates her express entry scores will increase and will also qualifies for BC PNP.

Go to Canada with your wife. Let her apply for express entry without her MSc, keep schooling, while you start to look for work immediately. If you are truly 8 years experience in heavy duty equipment and you know your stuff very well, you will get a job. That's a high demand field in Canada. Make sure to put together a very good resume and seek help with interviewing in Canada. Nothing really special about interviewing in Canada, except don't let yourself be influenced by your Nigerian biases.

When your wife finishes MSc, let her update her profile. Though she may be lucky to get PR before finishing her masters. When she does finish though, she gets post-graduate work visa, if eligible, and she can find work. I don't know why you are rushing to get PR in one year. Why, if I may ask? What's the objective? You can live in Canada without stress without PR. And it's not like it gives you any special advantage in the period your wife is studying. Or correct me if I'm wrong.

Go through the process like several others have done and set your target on getting the PR when you do, however long it takes. It won't take more than three years anyways, and take those three years as time to settle in Canada and know your environment.

Also look into the organisation that verifies and certifies your credentials as you need to be certified before been able to practice as an engineer or trainings required before been able to operate/service an heavy duty equipment. No matter your years of experience, Canada can humble someone, if you don't get the required certifications or training certifications your experience may be useless.

You can get PR before your wife concludes her studies. Look for a company that can give you LMIA once you get to Canada.

Please I need urgent advice from seniors who got their driving extract from Nigeria.
I would like to know if anyone successfully got theirs by applying through the Online portal and paying the 50k naira stated therein.

Or if the best and guaranteed way is to go through FRSC official?

I discussed with an FRSC official, he billed me 80k. I want to know if the online route works so I can save 30k😔.

Need to get the extract before entering Canada next month, so I can easily take the driving test and get my G license

They don’t send the extract to individuals. Only to organizations.

Oh! I didn’t see that part. I’m also going to apply for it next week. I’d advise you do it yourself. My FRSC plug said it can’t be influenced. But then again in Nigeria everything is possible.

just so you are aware.. There's backlog on the whole process. March or April I think. So if you don't use a plug, be ready to wait a very long time

All the western world countries are almost the same except for little variations here and there.

They are all credit societies where large chunk of their economy is driven by consumer spending.

However you have the choice to stay out of loans. For example, If you don't have money to go to school, then you don't have to study courses that would keep you heavily indebted since you will be taking loan to study. You can study in demand courses in colleges with grant rather than go to a high ranking university to study with loans. You can decide to drive a 15 year old car and pay for it in cash rather than going for a brand new or fairly new car with loan.

You can even keep renting instead of buying a house on mortgage if you hate loans so much but that doesn't make sense since houses are assets and not liabilities. Even though you owe money on a house, you can sell it and make profit when the time is right.

Note that an average oyibo doesn't care much about debt the way we do cos that is how they live from beginning and it's part of their lifestyle as built by their system.

You talked about savings but note that these western countries are not built for savings but spending. Like I said before, it is the bedrock of their economy. Besides, the structure of their society coupled with fairly good governance makes savings not to be a big deal.

Why do people need savings? In case of emergency. What are the do or die emergencies? Loss of job, health, accidents, loss of shelter, life etc. The oyibo model is insure instead of savings. This is why insurance is one of the biggest industries in North America.

In this place, your insurance is your savings while in places like Nigeria, your savings is your insurance because of the model our society is run. You see the difference.

Why would an average oyibo be bothered much about savings when he has insured against all possible emergencies? Life, employment, health, home, car, accident and even pet sef dey get insurance. These insurance coverages cost money but because of their mentality, they embrace it but majority of us Africans will see it as a waste and instead save those money in the bank and that would form part of our "savings".

So when you read an average oyibo have little or no savings, that is the truth but it doesn't tell the full story.

You asked a valid question but you need to understand how the society is built in order to properly navigate it. The choice to embrace the oyibo model or our Nigerian model or a little mixture of both is left for you.
