That is myopic of the author. When Buhari closed the borders and partially opened the Northern states own it wasn't a big problem rt? It was ECOWAS decision not Tinubu decision instead of the Northerners elites to put pressure on the coup plotters they are blaming our President. The northern soldiers can kill the Southerners no problem but can't do the same with foreigners Niger because of the blood related. I now understood the secret behind the Bokoharam better. 2 Likes 1 Share |

I don't believe that we'll attack Niger. It's not just a Northern matter. It will affect all of us. It just doesn't make any sense. The days of ECOMOG are over. We have more than enough problems of our own to tackle. Our sons/ brothers in the military should not be made to carry a burden beyond their limit. Sanctions and diplomacy will work over time. Still, we should remember that Niger will dam River Niger for electricity that we're denying them now. God help us all. |

MASTAkiLLAh: Hogwash from the usual northern hawks.........to them northern arewa interests is the same thing as Nigeria@national? interests.......I may not like the underhand manner Tinubu came ro power but his policies are correct ones ,though I feel he should have prepared the masses better! His defence and security appointments are by and large fair......unlike the clown from Daura ,who thinks and acts like fulanis make up 90% of naija population! The ecowas threat of intervention is hasty and also wrong in the sense that Nigeria will just fritter away subsidy removal savings on an adventure which does not concern us..........whu should our soldiers die for western interests! If france wants to fight Niger...let them go ahead and go fight! Threatening Tinubu solely cos Northern Nigeria interests maybe compromised is careless and arrogant talk, so what if northern interests are affected !........... 3 Likes 1 Share |

If these disagreements intensify, it is not just remote places of worship or deserted night-time motorways in the North that will bear the brunt. The war could very well be at our doorsteps across the country. It will be touching our daily lives, affecting our cities, and spilling over into our living rooms. Targets would not be confined to battlegrounds; they could extend to our crucial infrastructure — dams, airports, bridges, schools, hospitals, and government edifices.A direct threat to escalate persecution of certain worshipper and expand violence. |

Thegamingorca:The empty vessels always make the loudest noise, you think the topic is talking about uncertainty or a six side cube or cubes with numbers 1-6? Playing Die in this topic is going to a war you will obviously get defeated but still you want to be brave enough to go (American English). Obviously the Northern Nigerian will suffer if Nigeria goes to war with Niger as it stands but still The President wants to go ahead. I am sure you will be too dumb to understand. |

Some of these writers paint not as a people that can't stand alone without being favoured by government policies, probably, why they always want to be in power. Why war is not the best option and that our politicians must strive to rule well with sound policies, fairness and justice, we must realize that Nigeria is neither north, south, east and west but an amalgamation of all. |

@MASTAkiLLAh, it's a dilemma Nigeria has to face and deal with squarely. We can't shy away from it. The writer is obviously pro-north. It smacks of his bias for the north. Yesterday, someone posited that a counter coup could happen in Niger. I found it very interesting. Now, if that happens and Niger is plunged into deep political crisis, creating a humanitarian crisis with the movement of refugees, where do we think they would naturally to turn? Nigeria, of course. Can we now see how it concerns us. We cannot simply stay aloof. The comparison he drew with Margaret Thatcher and Tinubu is fundamentally flawed. Thatcher was already on her first term, with waning popularity, while Tinubu is just starting his tenure. Thatcher was trying to save her tenure and win another term. Tinubu is a man getting to work as the head of a regional bloc with zero tolerance for political banditry. People also forget that Africa is the centrepiece of Nigeria's foreign policy. If Nigeria stands aloof, as many ill-educated and ill-informed want, Africa will be seized by internal and external deviants. 1 Like |

No war has been declared so far, and no war would be declared at the end. So war alarmists should sheath their swords. Moreover the North had been having a lively time with Buhari for the last 8 years, with the economic taps switched on towards their direction, and they have fed themselves with bloated tummies. So now that they are facing what the South has been facing all along, they should minimise their complaints. Let us all endure it for some time more, and see how it will ends. |
