This thread is all about bringing out the best of your steam deck, play Xbox, PS3 ' PS2, PS1 and other platform games on your steam deck and also how to install PC games on your steam deck.

You would need a keyboard, a type USB dock and a mouse.

Using emulators like rpcs3 , emdudeck can make playing and installing games on the SD easier, plus a configuration is needed for the settings to run smoothly

If u need more help quote me, if you have any inputs or experience kindly say them

Have you installed cryoutilities and decky loader?

Nope I haven't, I only use the direct emulators , as I know where all files are loaded
Re: Tutorial On How To Play PS3, PC, Nintendo Switch, PSP, Retroarch On Steam Deck by jeff1607(m): 6:09pm On Aug 08, 2023
Common issues with the steam deck and solutions

1. Game not resuming after putting in sleep mode, solution is to go to settings - customization -, toggle shuffle startup movie and use as wake movie off

2. Mouse or track pad not working when in desktop mode , solution; restart steam or reconfigure buttons in settings

3.game lagging, increase or pur frame limit off and update proton especially for non steam deck games and emulators

4.SD card not showing as primary, solution; make sure the SD card was or os formatted by the steam deck , switch to desktop mode, go to storage and select SD to primary

5. Games and Files not installing on SD card, go to settings in game mode and select SD primary, tap X to set as default, you should see a star sign on the SD card

6. Steam deck getting too hot, solution; redo the thermal paste

7. RPCS3 games lagging, check the configuration on the wiki list for the game , update rpcs3, remove all ppu. Compilations and reinstall.

Oh, alright. But these ain't emulators. Cryoutilities tools boosts overall performance and decky loader is a plugin that brings in lots of features.

I would give this a try

Did you change ur default VRAM settings in the bios to 4gb before using cryo utility?

Another one, did you by any chance undervolt or overclock your steam deck?

Yes, I increased the VRAM for cryoutilities.

I've neither undervolted or overlocked. I'm okay with the performance and power consumption at the moment.

Wow! It totally feels good to know that there's a thread for steam deck owners. I just got a SD, 512GB variant. I've only been getting games from the Steam store, which can be expensive.

I haven't bought any game via the steam store and all games run smoothly, you just have to customize the album art to make it look official

Wow! Could you please walk me through how to do this? I tried getting a memory card, but I'm not sure I've seen anyone that'll work well with the console, or even if that's the next step I'm supposed to take

I've bought some games, but most of my games are cracked. There are a lot of fun tweaks to install to get the most of your deck. Check out decky loader, cryoutilities, and Lutris.

You should probably look into upgrading your ssd as well.
And it's a handled, don't expect it to run like an Rtx 4090 wink

Enjoy!

I'm playing Starfield at the moment.

Isn't 26 fps too low? I capped mine at 40 and its very stable.

Thanks man! I have cryoutilities and emu deck installed. I bought some games too, but they aren't cracked. I guess there's still a lot to learn.

Yeah, a lot to learn! The only reason why I buy some games is because of steam achievement and displaying play time.
