With All The Economic Challenges, Pure Water Still Sells For ₦10 In Kaduna by LocalFARMERS: 10:37am On Aug 11, 2023 |
I left Benin for Kaduna few days ago. I noticed that People still buy pure water for #10. In Benin, pure water is presently 2 for #50. I also noticed in Kaduna that, only #50 has been added to most of the drops of transportation. For instance, Sabo to Central Market is now #200 as against #150 before subsidy removal. Both Bikes and Keke also increased their transport fair by #50 only. However, in Benin the price hike is above 200% in most routes. From Ring Road to bypass used to be #300 before subsidy removal. But it has now been increased to between #500 and #1k. From Ekiosa market at 3rd to Aduwawa used to be #150 before subsidy, it is now between #300 to #400. Same applies to all routes in Benin. All pure water raw materials are the same. I wonder why pure water will be cheaper in Kaduna while the same pure water is 3 times higher in Benin. Note that, fuel cost more here in Kaduna than Benin. Some fuel stations sell above #700 here. While the same fuel goes for between 580 to 620 in Benin. 47 Likes

Price hike also means low sales I took a bike and was chatting with the bike man on why his fares remained the same even with price increase.. He laughed and told me point blank people where no longer taking bikes, they simple trek, his daily take home had reduced . 104 Likes 9 Shares |

When you tell some people Northern Nigeria is the best region in Nigeria some people will be looking for avenue to fight you. An average Northern sellers is not looking for too much profit. 216 Likes 17 Shares |

That's one good thing about northern Nigeria, the transporters are very considerate, was asking one how they manage to meet up, said they aren't making as much profit as before the fuel hike, that before after buying fuel at end of the day you can see at least 5k-7k left for you, but now it's between 2k-3k. 52 Likes 6 Shares |

The average northerner is more productive than their southern counterpart and so can afford to sell same product or service lower. Most of those bike riders also have farms and that reduces the pressure on them to charge too high. They also know moderate increase in price help keep patronage level. It also explains why Benin people are first to hit the streets when thing go south. 118 Likes 10 Shares |

They are still making a lot of profit. Even with the high cost of fuel, production cost of 1 sachet is 3 Naira. Its greed that causes the benin sellers to jack up prices. 48 Likes 7 Shares |

Cost of living in the north is considerably cheaper. You can bang an average girl in Zaria for one pack of hungry man noodles. I'm not kidding. I've done it more than 80 times. 55 Likes 4 Shares |

Here in Lugbe, Abuja we still sell one bag for N200. We converted our gen to LNG, and use Diesel gen to support production... Sometimes, in business you plan for the long term. Maintain quality, don't compete on price. A good product will bring repeat patronage. You sure it's actually "pure" water? Cost of production is virtually constant nationwide, save for maybe labour and rent. 2 Likes |

The people are the problem of Nigeria, but somehow we end up blaming those in power. The major reason why it seems like both previous and existing presidents or governors are not effective. 15 Likes |
