Please i have been using Honda Engine Oil 5W-30 for my car and which has been working very fine altoght after 5000Km it short a little. The last time i serviced, the oil was not available so i used Hardex 5W-30, i noticed i hvae not gotten to 1500km and the oil has so short is at the middle of the dip stick which is very unsual. The car is not smoking. What could be wrong? Is the oil bad or not fit for the car.. Any recommendations please |
Re: Tell Us Your Car Fault Lets Assess And Fix Them by kingreign(m): 9:52am On Aug 15, 2023 |
temi4fash: Check for oil leaks around the engine, replace PCV valve, if still oil depletion still occurs, revert back to honda 5W30 |
Re: Tell Us Your Car Fault Lets Assess And Fix Them by dru23(m): 12:35pm On Aug 15, 2023 |
temi4fash: Oga, it could be the oil .. My understanding here is that the car was not shorting much oil until you started using hardex oil .. It could be many factors also...... The recommended oil is supposed to be 5w20. But since u are using a bit of thicker oil 5w30, it shouldn't be shorting like that......... The importation of engine oil or parts now no be beans. Anything importation no be beans naira no get value again and dollar dey hard to get. So be mindful where u get your imported items from....... Even me has stopped importing oil for now until I know were this naira is heading to . As of today $1 = 935 Naira. ........ For your oil need .. We got u cover from 10w40, to 5w40 to 10w30, 5w30, 0w40 etc the list goes on and on.... " importation of quality engine oil will favour me and my family and customers o." 1 Like

Hello evryone, I wish you all a great week ahead. Please permit my grammar if you find any. I have a Toyota corolla 2005 sport which bought earlier this year used. The car was perfect in all sense and was tested by mechanics as I don't know much about cars. After about a week or 2 I decided to put catalyst converter on the car as to reduces emition and improve fuel economy as people told me it helps. After I added the catalyst that is where I believe my issues with the car started. First, I started to noticed excess smoke from the exausht, which I was told its the o2 sensor. I changed it and then it happened again this time I didn't even use the car up to 2 days. I took it back to the mechanic and he said he will fix it which we changed the o2 sensor again. After this smoke and o2 sensor issue started I notice I loose power in acceleration and my car seems to misfire more frequently which I complained to the mechanic who said I should be "managing my car like that" and said corolla are not too powerful. After 2 days pf changing that sensor the car jumped timing which the mechanic told me. Long story short it went from timing to oil pump to cylinder head to slack of timing chain which I fixed everything and the car seemed to be fine again. Now the car still brings black smoke and is still burning o2 sensors and vibrates when I turn on the Ac and in all this is heavily consumes fuel like its nothing. All this happened within 3 months of buying this vehicle and I just tired. A somewhat prominent rewire told me the brainbox is the cause that it's fault and that's what is causing the issue which some other people are telling its not the brainbox that is not possible for the car to keep functioning as it is if its the brainbox. I am seriously tired I don't know what to do I have spent a considerable amount of money on this car yet I am still facing issues with it. Right now I just need a proper diagnosis so I can make the right repair. If you guys can help me I will be grateful I bought this car as to start my business and since I have not been able to even use it for normal use let alone start the business. |

Re: Tell Us Your Car Fault Lets Assess And Fix Them by jceesquare(m): 11:48am On Aug 16, 2023 |
E3d2:Remote diagnosis would be difficult has the car has gone through a lot. 1st I'd suggest you take out whatever contraption you have in your exhaust in the name of catalyst. With the rich condition of your engine, I'm sure your exhaust would be blocked by now. Secondly as suggested, share the codes you have as that's what would help direct you on what to look at. You might have a leaky injector which will always trigger a host of other secondary codes. If within Lagos and would like further proper diagnosis, kindly call 07089030689. |

jceesquare:yes, I understand. The last one I bought for Acura mdx was 8k and used. My scanner read the one on the Acura as inactive. Using live data, I confirmed it was not responsive. However the seller tested my defective sensor with his multimeter and insisted it was good and refused selling to me. I insisted, I will buy a replacement. Told him if his doesn't work, I will return it and forfeit 2k. Installed it and ran a live data on it. It showed activity. Working till today. |

chukel:That's the issue. You can't really tell if all these wide band oxygen sensors are working by just doing a resistance test with a multimeter until it's in the car and you run a live scan on them. |

Parzival001:I just finished changing the oil pump of this car as advised by the mechanic, still I’m still having the oil alert pop up. I personally think it’s the oil sensor but I told the mechanic about this and he said it’s the pump, now I’ve changed the pump but the issue still persists. Please I’m tired of wasting money, someone please help me. It’s a Corolla 2014 for people who are just seeing this for the first time |

Parzival001: Too many things already done on the car, too many things tampered with for one to advise you remotely. Get a highly competent technician to go thru the car be very honest and open with him and do not try to cheap out on any repairs. |

Angrygoat:Long story short, I finally drove it to a mechanic I trust. I was scared of doing this cos his workshop was a bit far from my house so I didn’t want to hurt the engine in anyway, but las las, he cleaned the bottom plate and changed oil and filter but now the engine has a noisy sound while trying to accelerate, he said it’s the crankshaft, the whole overheating issues and oil and water mixing has damaged it. He advised I change the crankshaft and sth bearing , I’ve forgotten the name, if I don’t have money for new engine but he also advised I changed the whole engine for peace of mind because people have worked severally on it. On my way back home, I didn’t enjoy the ride one bit, the car stopped me for about 3 times on the road but the oil alert never came up on the dashboard though. Each time, it shows the battery sign before going off while driving. I have to start it up again to continue, that’s what I kept doing until I got home. They also scanned it, these were the error codes it gave P0031 P1603 P1605 If someone can save me from buying a new engine, I’d truly appreciate |
