The Oyo State Government has declared Monday as a maiden public holiday to celebrate Isese Day.

The day is celebrated annually by traditionalists across the state.

The announcement was contained in a circular titled, “Declaration of holiday to mark traditional religious festivity in Oyo State” and signed by the Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo, on Friday.

It read, “The Oyo State Governor, Governor Seyi Makinde has graciously approved August 20, 2023 of every year as “Isese day” in Oyo State, to commemorate the celebration of Traditional Religious festivity.

“Towards this end, Monday, August 21, 2023, has been declared as the maiden Public Holiday to commemorate this year’s festivity in the state.

“His Excellency has therefore requested that the occasion be used to pray for the peace, unity and stability of the State in particular, and the Country in general.

“Kindly give His Excellency’s approval, as conveyed, the widest publicity it deserves,” the circular added.

This followed the resolution of the Oyo State House of Assembly that earmarked August 20 for the celebration of Isese Day.

Makinde further urged traditional worshippers in the state to use the occasion to pray for the peace, unity, and stability of the state in particular and the country in general.

Okay, I heard that isese worshipers are called pagans in Illorin. The fulani emir in Illorin even banned the activity there.

A Yoruba man who insulted the emir in Ibadan over it was picked up and sent to Illorin to serve his due punishment.

Even Soyinka was humbled when he tried to question the authority of the fulani emir of Illorin. Since then, the old man kept quiet.

Slave and master relationship 😂😂😂

Lol, na today. Illorin has forever become fulani heritage. And if the capital is theirs, it means the entire state is too because the emir's authority is higher than any other traditional ruler there!

As for Lagos, it's only a matter of how soon. Emir of Lagos already exists and even Sanwo olu pays him official visits. It's really a thing of shame that those who cry ronu over businessmen and investors in their midst would go silent when the real landgrabbers are seizing control of their territories one after another.

Cowards 😂😂😂

Nice one.

That's what we're saying. Practice your festival in your domain. Kwara Emirate does not permit Isese. Respect your host.

May God continue to bless Emir of Kwara and his subjects for protecting their land.

I pray Nigeria shouldn't split up o. If it does peren, Ilorin people (Yoruba) should just follow the fulani. At least, nobody will stop them from being slave to the fulanis forever.

The most annnoying thing is some Yorubas are fighting to claim back ilorin while some (omo ale yoruba) are supporting the emir.

Very pathetic

Lol. grin The owners of Ilorin banned the cowards from practicing their stooopid religion in Ilorin. They even threatened to pelt the same cowards if they dared to. What did the cowards do? Your guess is as good as mine.

You honor Arab god with a public holiday

Jewish god with a public holiday

And disregard your own African God

The Gods are angry

It’s time Africans worship their own God
