Got A New Job In Bauchi, I Need Your Advice Please by Emmanuel555(m): 7:20pm On Aug 21, 2023 |
Hello Everyone! I applied for an internship job as an Optometrist in one of the reputable hospitals in Bauchi, I summoned the courage to go for the interview last month when they called, it was my first time going to Bauchi although I have been to Kaduna in 2012, so I already knew that it was going to be a long distant journey going from the eastern region. I went through Onitsha and it was about 15 hours journey both going and coming back. The interview was successful and today I was called to resume work next week. I really love the atmosphere there since it's in Bauchi capital and I spent only 3 days. But I'm much concerned about the security challenges, language barrier, religious view (I'm a Christian), foods and cost of living. Please what are the precautions I need to take in order to work and survive there in a period of one year? Are there things I should know before going and are there other challenges I'm likely to encounter. NB: I also applied in different hospitals especially in Eastern region but non has called me so far. Thanks. [ Admin please move to front page, I need opinions. 2 Likes |

It's okay to be scared about so many factors but you can also consider that no place is safe in Nigeria generally, people live in Bauchi now so, stay low, focus on your reason for going to Bauchi and set goals for period of years you want to be there. A bird at hand is worth two in the bush. If you have a good accommodation and salary. I see nothing wrong with this. 4 Likes |

Bauchi is not a state I feel you should be afraid off In terms of security nowhere is safe In Bauchi u are assured of a lower cost of living, transportation, feeding e.t.c But the downside is the high social life, flexes and norms in the east is not too available in Bauchi Apart from that if the pay is good U are good to go 5 Likes |

When I was about going for my schooling in Zaria, I had same fear of insecurity, but what happened at the end, everything went successful and, I never regretted any bit of the experience I had while schooling in the North. Insecurity is more in the east as of today. We have diverse of tribes already in bauchi, doing very well. And you have also felt the environment for the 3days u spent over there, so there is no cause for alarm. The only advice I have for you is, be focused. Make sure in your dealings to critize or involve in any argument that has to do with religion. Pray and commit your journey and duration of stay in Bauchi into the hands of Almighty God. Then believe and trust in God that at the end of your stay in Bauchi, testimonies shall overwhelm you in Jesus 2 Likes |

I think Bauchi is one of the safe states in the north. I have never been there but I don't hear attacks happening over there. 1 Like |

In the university there, you will find plenty of southerners. You can always go there to mix up and unwind. Likewise the polytechnic. 2 Likes |

Emmanuel555:First of all congratulations. Can you tell us the name of this reputable hospital in Bauchi? Is it private? Well back to your question, Bauchi is one of the most safest states in the North, very cheap, I mean very cheap, you only spend not more than 6k highest on TP to work. About places you can stay, it depends on where you hospital is located, most big private hospitals Bauchi are situated in GRA. You can stay in places like, Awala roundabout, Gidan mai, opposite barracks or Yelwa, close to the University and polytechnic. Bauchi state is a Hausa speaking states, although there are a lot of Igbo's at Tudun Wada Dan iya popularly called Bayan gari. But bro, Bayan gari don cast, ashawo and cultist full am now, police raid that place every day. Generally, you will enjoy Bauchi state, cheap, very cheap. Least I forget, you can get a decent one bed room and parlour for 80 to 100k, depending on location. 1 Like |
