Counts for nothing. Ecowas and the AU have been beacons of utter uselessness. Same organisations that sit back numbly and allow leaders of respective nations to pillage and abuse democracies to the detriment of their citizens, now feel they possess the moral compass to enforce directives on Niger because their coup offends the interests of their Western puppeteers. Mtchew. See how they contradict emselves. Suspend them from A.U, set standby army in event of invasion, and set up committee to weigh up possible implication in the event of military invasion 1 Like |

Typical of a military government Those in favour Are allowed to rally in favour but Those against are barred. Burkina babe and Malians coup leaders are in favour because they fear that If the coup in Niger fail It is a template for them too. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Henry22: You don't understand, 'Ebola' used his position as ECOWAS chairman as well as Nigeria's military and economic influence to looby both the A.U and ECOWAS to impose trade sanctions on Niger in order to force the coupists to reconsider their actions. Wars are not only fought in the batlle field, trade wars in some cases are also as devastating as an all out military warfare. But you won't understand, since nor be spare parts matter or Akube clothes we dey discuss for here. 1 Like 1 Share |

Why weren't all these sanctions meted out to BurkinaFaso and Mali for their own coups? Why only Niger Republic? Is there something the French and the Americans are not telling us? What is there in Niger Republic that their coup is getting attention from left and right like this? 2 Likes

Niger military rulers should stand their ground gidigba, like Russian President Vladimir Putin did.Nothing else would happen, apart from sanctions and suspension. If it comes to war, don't be surprised that their soldiers would thoroughly thrash the military force of the useless ECOWAS, even more with the backup of the Russian mercenary group Wagner. Nothing flights so ferociously like a being cornered or one defending its territory. Try harrasing a lion cub in the territory while the lioness is around. 5 Likes |

African Union Suspends Niger With Immediate Effect Over Coup Following the continuous refusal of the Niger junta to hand over power to ousted President Mohamed Bazoum, the African Union, AU, said it has suspended Niger until civilian rule in the country is restored, and it would assess the implications of any armed intervention in the troubled West African nation. “The Peace and Security Council requests the AU Commission to undertake an assessment of the economic, social and security implications of deploying a standby force in Niger and report back to Council,” the bloc said. Peppysco:Ok. It's Tinubu that's influencing sanctions now. I hope if it backfires you won't say it's AU and Ecowas o You Tinubu goons are usually quick to attribute every success to Tinubu and divorce him of responsibility when things go south. I'm sure if Buhari had performed well, you lots would have deafened the media space with how he's a product of Tinubu's talent hunting ability 2 Likes |
