It's cos of threads like these that I try to be as civil as possible on here. It's also why I haven't left nairaland. Even though say na small children plenty pass for here now, at least some matured people still remain.

Wow. This certainly brought back memories and made me feel one type of way... there was something magical about early morning radio back then... used to love sitting in d car with my Dad every morning while he drops me off at school as he drives to work on the island. Even back then, lagos traffic was crazy and Dad had to leave home like 5am in order to get to work before 8. I would sometimes arrive at school between 5.30 and 6am when the school security guards will just be getting prepared for the day, in their singlets and shorts and all that and they always used to look at me funny. I eventually bought a small Walkman in order to continue to listening to the radio even after Dad dropped me off. Thanks OP for this delightful post.

Actually, the original version of that song was by Brian Hyland and it came out in the year1960. He was 17 years old when he released Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini in 1960. Funny enough he's alive and still performing at the age of 80☺️

I learnt that Mr Erastus Akingbola owns Inspiration FM. In fact, only part of the top floor where the radio station is was not sealed by EFCC.

Always slept with my radio on every Saturday nights to listen to HNIC Dr Gee on club train on raypower. Prior to that Sule Sulazoo Ellams 4pm starts his program with a prayer by DMX and ends it some minutes to 10pm with another DMX prayer. Djs like FX2, Xsmart, Xchris. On Rhythm FM Kemistry was amazing with Wild child and the rest I can't remember their names.Dj Humility, Snoop da damager, Star FM too rocked with Teddy if I am right. I shuffled between raypower, rhythm, star fm and cool. Top radio was good too and RN which later became metro fm. Man don dey old oo.

The 2000's.

RayPower, Lagos

- Tito da Fire
- Tolu Alatise
- Slim Steve.

They also used to host the DAAR Communications Christmas and Easter Fiesta at former Gateway Hotels which has now been renamed.

Fun memories as a child.

Top Radio, Lagos
- Tosyn Bucknor
- Stranger (who I recently found out is Chris Ehindero).

She used to write for the Guardian Sunday Magazine before the Top Radio job came

Naptu, God bless you.
I have not listened to that tune in over 10yrs. There was a track by Sadao Watanabe released same year or around same time as Cocoloco. I heard it once over radio, by chance, never heard it again and could never find in store. It had same high stacco as this one by Herb. Do you know the one?

Jazz is therapeutic, ought to be prescribed.

This JAJ guy na real fossil. I started listening to him in the late 90//early 00s on Rhythm FMs Top 7 Jamz at 7!

In addition to all you mentioned other notable radio influencers for me over the years

Dr. Flavour - A DJ on Eko FM who cranked out the badest HipHop hits in the early 2000s

Bimbo Stalwart Obiesan on because Ibadan also cranked out HipHop hits on Saturday nights in the early 2000s

There was a Lanre Kool on Ondo State Radio Corporation.

Biodun “Double B “ Current Affairs host on OGBC on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. One of the programms was called Total Mood Turnover. Never missed an episode. I wonder what he will make of our affairs today.

and of recent Sandra Ezekwesili of Nigeria Info’s “Hard Facts”

That said Dan Foster was the GOAT!

That lady Sandra Ezekwesili is now the real gee. Sadly she's leaving the station. Also Joyce Onyema
