IbeOkehie: Herbert Wigwe earns a stated salary of less than those on that list. Yet, over the past 6 months, he has added shares worth more than 5Billion to his portfolio. The biggest businesses owned by Nigerians are in Nigeria. You think it's coincidental? There is a reason why your children fight for your gratuity and our children inherit business empires. Slavery is a choice. Your choice, your problem. 2 Likes |

lexy2014: I mean, if you've been able to work and hustle and save up 6M, it shows a certain work ethic and ability. OK, I'm an engineer by training, and I started out repairing radios, etc. If I got 10k in one week it would be my best week! Then I started to repair phones, opened small shop to sell accessories, and money was a little better. Stopped that and started doing solar installations for a small company, small change done dey enter. Then partnered with a friend to sell solar equipment, as well as install, and money is growing. Built a hostel based on solar, and now collecting money from tenants, installation, and selling equipment. We went from 100k annual turnover 10 years ago to 50M nowadays. I don't think we'd be here if I japa'd 10 years ago. I'd probably make 50M in US, then turn around and pay all that back on taxes, rent and bills, with no room for growth. In this same Nigeria, the grit that got me 100k annually is the same that's getting me 50M... same Nigeria. Link to hostel project: https://www.nairaland.com/2583312/building-solar-powered-hostel-learning-experience In this same Nigeria, akara seller is making 50k daily, and a furniture maker is a millionaire in USD, and somebody has a team of people making juice. Opportunities abound - which is why many non-Nigerians come in here to make a fortune. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WGwvruYjlc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2k1X1EKaGg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wraljHk11hI 2 Likes |

6M is not enough to Japa Except you want to go there and be doing fine bara or washing plate. I would 10x that 6m within the next 12 months. Then we can now start talking of Japa As to people saying start a business in Nigeria. You and I know that is utter nonsense. Except your business earns dollars or pounds or Euro. Then you are bulletproof. But if you are making Nairas, my brother, JAPA when you can I wont talk again. I used to be on the boat of no Japa even when I had the chance on a silver platter Now, I wish I had taken the oppourtunity 2 Likes |

Wickedfacts: If business growth was so easy in Nigeria the unemployment or underemployment rate would be a lot lower than 33%. I mean, that's common sense. Expanding businesses employ people. You mentioned glass ceilings in Nigeria. The FACT is that inside Nigeria, Europeans and Asians have better opportunities than Nigerians. You will notice it right from the international airport where these foreigners are given preference over Nigerians. There are estates and restaurants in Nigeria that expressly prohibit Nigerians. A foreigner can maliciously kill any Nigerian in Nigeria and it's likely nothing will happen. The list supplied by Thisday and other business newspapers refute your thesis about opportunities in Nigeria for Nigerians. The highest earning CEO's of quoted companies are all Oyibo or Asian and here you are yarning about glass ceiling. This is your reality check for the day. Have a good night. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Sprints3:I won't say too much u people over there no dey calm down and I know say all this talk wey u dey talk nah sakamanje. Yeah it's better to go in your early 20s u re right but never say its not better to go anytime u re wrong about that. It isn't my fault I went in my late 30s , I went in as a single child of an American citizen which means my dad filed for me and he did late thats why I end up entering there at that age. I wasn't married then but I had a child out of wedlock and my child is presently with me. Now if I had married my status would have changed and it will even take longer time. I don't want to be given too much stories because u people don't know how this things works u just just think Nigeria is better than the USA so if someone sees opportunity he should go. When I was in Nigeria I wasn't working for good six years when I lost my job I went through hell before this opportunity came, I thought I was cursed even went for prayers did some crazy job that i know I can't do just to survive, thank God for my family who supported me even with enough talk and downgrading as an eldest child, now I got to the USA and in less that 2weeks I got my SSN and applied for various jobs and I got job this is less than a month after gotten into the us. I got my own apartment, and a my own car, and my son is with me and even invited my mum what else again, o can eat whatever I want to eat, travel to many states in the USA ah, Bros which time wan come tell me now. I just want to live a good life not flamboyant life that we live in Nigeria. Now all this things I mentioned re all necessity of which we don't find in Nigeria. Nigeria is a good place to live but u see our leaders and some devilish people don't want to make things good over there, and I tell people that our leaders re Intentionally Wicked. Bros u wrote something that even if bread is 4,500 naira u will stay in Nigeria, yeah it's Ur choice, everyone has his or her own choices to make, me I won't tell people not to travel, my advice is do a thorough investigation or findings about the country u re going to and go legally and see if things does not fall In place, as I dey hear now say Nigeria don hard pass buhari regime Hahahahaha, Omo God help Una peace. 4 Likes |

Chidolalar:I can't be precise on how it's cost me because I came to the US as a child of an American citizen, so it was easier for me to integrate to the system. I got my SSN in less than 2weeks after arrival and I applied for a blue collar job At Richmond times dispatch as an inserter machine operator. Why I said am fulfilled is that my son is with me, I ve my own apartment and a car, my mum has been here in the US several times, my siblings re here though the same package, I ve traveled to many states in the US at least 8 and counting sha what else, massive body transformation I mean fresh and clean. Bros just come the legit thats all what I can say. For the cost I can't really ascertain cos I had a dependent who happens to be my son and it gulped millions of naira though on loan sha. 3 Likes |

sammyonal: US is better organized and have better infrastructure and more inclusiveness and they also have problems peculiar to them but Ghana is easier for manufacturing than the US presently and Apple would rather set up in Ghana than in New York. Generally the principles to make it are the same everywhere and if you can not make it in Nigeria, it won't be possible in the US as well. However don't Japa but follow opportunities. If an American gets a good job offer in Nigeria, he or she will relocate one hundred out of one hundred times. It should be the same with Nigerians. American citizens in Nigeria are said to be up to 300k or so. |

lawani:who's is talking about infrastructure right here, am talking about a country's system that works. In Nigeria what is working over there absolutely nothing, corruption have eating up the whole place even a new born baby is infected with corruption, the system is corrupt and it will hard for that kind of country to move forward. America has its own problem too no doubt but for we Nigerians here we don't see it as issues. I have American friends that complaint about there government and am like this people no know Wetin dem they enjoy at all, u have good road, work dey, light constant, u have access to loan and mortgage for where I come from we no get half of this things. Now u talk about apple setting up in Ghana than in New York this is because of cheap labour, Americans don't do that, they prefer taking it to other countries like china because labour is cheap. How many American companies in Nigeria pay peanut to there Nigerian staffs in Nigeria non. Yeah like I said I followed opportunity and am here but if u re here u will see the difference because opportunity abounds here. All this epistles I dey write am tired, this is my advice I won't discourage any one from japaying laye, make ur findings about Ur destination and move there in a legit way. I ve seen Nigerians that came here through school and they didn't even attend the school, they just came to hustle I even adviced them they told they have mission that the school package is for them to get out naija, after hustling like craze there status have changed now and they even okay, so its mind set and the spirit to integrate into the system which they have done. 3 Likes |
