Good good.
Thanks for pointing it out.
Lets assume we have a population of 60-70m people who are employable, are you saying inside that number we have only 4% that is unemployed?

You are asking the wrong question again.

The right question is who is unemployed in the global context.

Do you have an issue against answering simple questions?
You know it's not a big deal if you also say that definition doesn't apply to the Nigerian context

Because we are not looking at unemployment again from a Nigerian perspective but from a global perspective.

If you ask a Nigerian Graduate that is still staying in his/her parent house posting cloth to sell on WhatsApp if he/she has a job she will tell you no, because to her employment means doing office work with her certificate and this person would have been classified as unemployed in the old methodology.

With the new methodology the Graduate will now be classified as being underemployed and not unemployed.

Which means Nigeria Underemployment rate will rise and Unemployment rate will fall.

Who born Lucio papa well to be there instead of Pasarella? If you remove Beckenbaeur, Baresi, Maldini then the next name is probably Pasarella and Figueroa is not far behind.

For Goalkeeper Fillol, Dida, Taffarel, Chilavert, Gilmar etc. Choosing any of the others over Dida is not a crime. For instance Chilavert who played in the same generation as Dida but was a few years older was obviously a better keeper.

Let me start with Dida.

Doctor, none of those keepers you mentioned is on Dida's level. Are you kidding me? E be like say you dey wear your rose-tinted nostalgic glasses egbon. Chilavert to Dida?! Chilavert's whole shtick was that he was very shouty and used to play freekick. Well boo hoo, so did Rogerio Ceni. Even Vincent Enyeama dey play Penalty.

Dida won 2 UCL and was a Balon Dor nominee. Dida was only dragging accolades with Buffon during their era. Nobody else.

The Lucio to Pasarella comparison is even more straightforward
Just look at all the things Lucio won. Compare to Passarella winning Interhouse sports in Argentina and then come back to me.

Big bro, I no fit ever agree with you on these two things. I'm sorry.

Thanks. I will check them out on YouTube to see if any of them can rekindle a list passion.

Kiss is old school. Just like Nas, you can't count them no more cos their wave is waned too low.

It's the new cats with their laughable off the beat flows that are making the wave now. Raps evolved.

You don't have to agree na. It is all opinion.

Let us start with Dida vs Chilavert.

Dida came 2nd once and 3rd once as IFFHS World Goalkeeper of the Year. Chilavert came 1st THREE times. Football historians and statisticians said he was the best keeper in the world three times but Dida never got that honour.

Dida never made the FIFA World Cup All-Star team. Chilavert did. It is only in team accolades that Dida has say. In terms individual accolades he has no mouth. Buffon, Cech, Kahn, Casillas were there during his time at AC Milan and they were better.

When football historians voted the best keepers of the whole 20th century (1901-2000) Chilavert placed No 6 and was the 1st South American keeper.
When the same football historians and statisticians voted for the best keepers only of the 1st decade of the 21th century (the era in which you said Dida was No 2 only to Buffon), Dida was No 6 behind Buffon, Casillas, Cech, VDS, Kahn.

Pasarella vs Lucio is even more straightforward.

Passarella was a World Cup winning captain. Widely regarded as possibly the best central defender in the world in the era between Beckenbauer and Baresi.

2nd highest scoring CB in football history.

IFFHS say he is on the South American All-time Team. Lucio is not there.

FIFA said he is one the 100 greatest footballers ever. World Soccer said he is one of the 100 greatest footballers ever.

Lucio? Well he has a bunch of Bundesliga Team of the Year accolades. He spent 11 years in Europe and didn't make a single UEFA team of the year.

So FIFA, World Soccer, IFFHS (Football historians and statisticians), and even Afrodoc1 to Afrodoc 1000 all rate Passarella higher than Lucio.

2. Exactly!!! Your second point is what we should be debating on, and I echoed that yesterday when the report came out.

It stated that clearly in the report “ The rate of informal employment among the employed Nigerians was 93.5% in Q4 2022 and 92.6% in Q1 2023.

Below is a link to the report you can check it out

https://nigerianstat.gov.ng/download/1241365

Noted.

This shows the true scale of unemployment problem better than the 30+ percent we were declaring earlier

If Nigeria has 96% employment but with 93% of those 96% employed informally, we can hazard a broad guess that 80% of that 93% have no meaningful employment

So 0.8 X 0.93 X 0.96 = 71%

71% unemployment is roughly what we have in a colloquial way of speaking.

That's roughly the true scale of unemployment and the work we have to do in this country

What we are dealing with is structural underemployment.

Consider this two scenario.

A graduate that is driving korope/Moruwa but is also looking for better job is described as employed but underemployed.

A graduate that is driving Korope/Moruwa but is not actively looking for other job is described as fully employed.

So if you are informally employed but you are not actively seeking for another job, that means you are fully employed and not underemployed.

So your percentage should fall more in the range f 55-60%

Lucio went to and scored in UCL final with Leverkusen, and won UCL as part of a treble with Inter. In-between he won a couple of Bundesliga titles, a World Cup, and 2 Confederations cups....and that's who you want to compare with Passarella that *checks notes* won NOTHING whilst playing 5 full seasons in the same Europe that Lucio dominated so thoroughly?

Because he won 2 world cups? In an era where world cup had only 16 teams? And one of those World Cups was the hand of God World Cup?

Chilavert won that joke Ifhss playing for Velez Sarfield in Argentina in 1998 over Fabian Barthez who won the world cup as a starter, was the ligue1 keeper of the year, was the FIFA World Cup keeper of the year, and that's the award you want us to take serious cheesy

My Big Brother in Christ who I love very much...NO. hell fücking NO.

You are focused on team victories. I am focused on individual honours. Where are the INDIVIDUAL honours that Lucio won. Imagine you are in a team winning titles and you never get an individual honour?

Not only IFFHS. FIFA and World Soccer and also agree with me. Lucio was a bandwagoner. Despite winning all those TEAM titles he didn't make a single UEFA Team of the Year. He was the Boateng of his time. Lucio dominated NOTHING. When Terry, Nesta, Cannavaro, Puyol dem were packing Team of the Year appearances Lucio was nowhere to be found.

Comparing Lucio to Passarella is sacrilegious. Passarella was the best defender in the world at a time. Lucio was never the best defender either in South America or Europe. He actually never made team of the year.

The Dida you said was 2nd only to Buffon was sitting at home when Buffon, Cech, Casillas, and co were receiving INDIVIDUAL awards from UEFA, IFFHS and other bodies.

You chose 2 bandwagoners. No individual accolades but hiding behind team accolades won by others.
Guti has more champions league titles and more league titles than Lampard but everybody knows who the better player was.

So if you are informally employed but you are not actively seeking for another job, that means you are fully employed and not underemployed.

So your percentage should fall more in the range f 55-60%

This is why our comparators against developed countries should not be taken at face value

I can argue for both of those scenarios being unemployed or both being employed
.
The benefit system in developed countries is what separates the employed from the unemployed

You essentially have to work over 16 hours a week in developed countries for you to earn a premium better than the benefit system can offer you

So if you have employment that pays less than you would get for 16 hours a week work at minimum wage, you will drop out of your job and claim unemployment benefits

So there is a defined line that separates employed from unemployed which the statisticians can reference against. Anyone working 1 hour per week is doing so voluntarily because they have options via the benefit system. That's why those who work few hours a week in USA constitute less than a percentage point of their labour force.

Now applied to Nigeria, I think a good metric to delineate employed from unemployed should be the minimum wage. If you earn less than minimum wage, you should be classed as unemployed so we can know the true nature of things.
